Warped Tour 2016

Girlfriend and I drove up to Houston for Warped yesterday. The weather was absolutely horrendous, but it was a good time.
1Crown the Empire
The Fallout

There was nothing we really cared about for the first hour so we walked over to see these guys. My God, I have never seen a worse live band in my life. Their guitar tone sounded like absolute garbage and both vocalists were abysmal. Just an awful, awful set.
2Every Time I Die
New Junk Aesthetic

This was a lot of fun. They focused a little bit too much on loudness for my liking and it kind of took away from the melody, but other than that they were pretty great. Pretty solid pit, too.
3Chelsea Grin
Desolation of Eden

4Ice Nine Kills
Every Trick in the Book

Was blown away by how good these guys sound live; Spencer's highs were insane. Best crowd and best pit all day, too. I'd venture to say they actually sound better live than on record; definitely more of an edge. Awesome set.
5Sleeping With Sirens
Feel

Only caught the end of their show but yeah it was pretty bad. Vocalist was annoying and not particularly impressive. Not even sure why we bothered.
6Less Than Jake
Hello Rockview

These guys were so much fun. Great stage presence, funny banter, and just an all-around immensely enjoyable experience. The crowd was all happy and super into it and probably incredibly intoxicated. Ska punk for life, baby!
7Motionless In White
Reincarnate

They were nothing special, but this wasn't a bad set. Some asshat in front of us vaped the entire time and probably gave us all cancer, but the music was pretty solid. Weak pit, though.
8Whitechapel
Mark of the Blade

Was really impressed by how tight and cohesive these guys sounded live. Their bass tone was sick, too. The pit was super intense but largely consisted of a bunch of assholes who seemed keen on murdering each other, so we just jammed instead. Really solid set.
9Issues
Headspace

Only caught the second half of their set, but it wasn't bad. Songwriting is clearly not their strongest suit, but they were good fun so I didn't really mind. Not great, but a solid enough way to end the day. They get props for the Pokemon-themed amps and drum kit as well. Falling in Reverse was gonna play last but we left because fuck that shit.
