| The Soilwork Ranked (2022)
I haven't done a single band ranking in a while. I do love these. | 1 | | Soilwork Natural Born Chaos
It's really hard for me to knock this album, and even though it's not perfect I can't move it from 1. Been with it too long.
Too many classic melodies and choruses with a whole lot of punchy shit. We ain't even going to talk about Song of the Damned. It's almost criminally too good. 4.5/5.0 | 2 | | Soilwork A Predator's Portrait
Like the Average Stalker was an earrrly favorite Soilwork song, but it took me awhile to warm up to the whole album.
Like An Average Stalker and The Analyst are mainly what put this at two, along with Structure Divine and a couple of other solid supporting tracks.
Oh, edit: Anyone put off about the 3.8 average on this? Almost the same amount of votes as Chainheart, but I feel like it's too low since most of their discog is between 3.5 and 3.9 anyway, including NBC, with the exception of Living Infinite w/ a massive amount of votes and a 4.1.
4.5 | 3 | | Soilwork Sworn to a Great Divide
I have listened to this album- A LOT. NBC was my first album I heard of theirs (jesus was I not expecting that), but this was the first one I bought when it came out. As such, I'll always be able to spin it fondly. | 4 | | Soilwork The Living Infinite
It would have been Chainheart here, but, this does carry itself rather well. I don't come back to this much, but I can't snub e'rything | 5 | | Soilwork The Chainheart Machine
Another that took me a minute to get into.
Room No. 99, Generation Speedkill, Neon Rebels, Spirits of the Future Sun, Room No. 99, Possessing the Angels, Room No. 99, you get it. | 6 | | Soilwork The Ride Majestic
I've really slept on the newer stuff but to it's credit, I really don't listen to all that much melodic dm | 7 | | Soilwork The Panic Broadcast
Didn't really like this all that much when it came out, because I was too into Ulcerate and other dm, and my favorite tracks then are still the ones I only really dig, and it's just a few. I don't know what it is about Sworn that's got it's tenderhooks in me, but I didn't feel like this was a sequel to that album even though many thought it was the better, more mature of the siblings.
Basically we're talking Two Lives Worth Of Reckoning, Enter Dog of Pavlov, Sweet Demise and Late for the Kill.
3.5 | 8 | | Soilwork Stabbing the Drama
I used to think this was really pretty good, and underrated, but it's just not a long-lasting substantive album. | 9 | | Soilwork Steelbath Suicide
A little neat. | 10 | | Soilwork Verkligheten
This was going to be 1 higher, but at at the last minute I dropped it a .5 and gave the spot to Steelbath. I'm probably in the wrong on this one because people dig the new Soil output, but this didn't have much for me. | 11 | | Soilwork Figure Number Five
On the respins test, this just appeared to be the most-obviously weakest. Still a couple of good songs, one great one. If I was going to include their demo EP on here, it honestly would probably go above this. | 12 | | Soilwork Underworld
Ill just rank the EPs here, starting with Underworld at 1. | 13 | | Soilwork The Feverish Trinity | 14 | | Soilwork In Dreams We Fall into the Eternal Lake (Demo) | 15 | | Soilwork Beyond the Infinite | 16 | | Soilwork A Whisp Of The Atlantic | 17 | | Soilwork The Early Chapters | |

03.28.22 | With this ranking, I might be ready to do my alternative IF ranking I've been sitting on for a while, since these bands are bros.
To the ranking that got bumped off my profile because of this one, I give thee the link to my Incantation Ranked list.

| Pikazilla
03.28.22 | 6 wins the pleb choice award.
2 is their best imo. | Pikazilla
03.28.22 | Chainheart and Steelbath should be higher as well! | Assemblage
03.28.22 | Those two are kind of in the middle in terms of listens but overall have a low amount of listens compared to my top. I can see those moving up though.
Well, Chainheart might be difficult, because it feels like the top four is locked, it would basically be between debating whether or not Living Infinite is too overly long or not.
| CottonSalad
03.28.22 | 10 and 11 are their worst, agreed. Really love Stabbing the Drama, it'd easily make my top 5 somewhere.
Their discog really filled out a lot of my listening gaps getting in to metal. | Pikazilla
03.28.22 | Stabbing the Drama is easily their worst, agreed. THE mallcore album from the Swedes. | advancedwarfighter
03.28.22 | 2 is 1 | CottonSalad
03.28.22 | Nah fam, love you tho | trilo
03.28.22 | 4 is best and 3 is worst | Assemblage
03.28.22 | Thanks Cotton! There a couple of *great* hits on just about every album. It is consistently surprising. I was just thinking about how crazy (and difficult) it would be ranking every song of theirs. There's going to be some major quality from like slots 40 or 50, and up. I haven't heard anything from any of their EP's though. I was thinking of throwing a list up of those once I do though. Keep it separate from the LP's. | CottonSalad
03.28.22 | Haha, yeah - that is something I would not do :]
Never considered their EP's either, although the newest one was like a film or something? The whole NFO-thing is getting to be less of a side project and more the face of this band every release haha | trilo
03.28.22 | yeah the increasingly blurred distinction between Soilwork and NFO has basically been the reason this band is back on a downturn. if STAGD wasn’t so bad Verkligheten would be their worst | Assemblage
03.28.22 | Any Speed fans should check the new Gizmachi album that he did. He goes considerably hard on it. I've been wanting to spin that again. | JDubb
03.28.22 | 4 is my 1 - also am a huge fan of AWOTA, likely my 2 | Dewinged
03.29.22 | How can u have NBC as first and then FNF as last if they are practically brother albums? lol Agree with #1 though, it's my favorite too. | Muzz79
03.29.22 | Exactly what Dewinged said | BallsToTheWall
03.29.22 | 8 and 9 need to be higher. | Assemblage
03.29.22 | I really don't see how related they are to each other, tbh. They don't sound the same at all to me, so not sure how "exactly" something like that is, lol.
To me A Predator's Portrait sounds closer to NBC then NBC does to FN5. FN5 has a lot that just goes over flat to me. I'd even say it's closer to Stabbing than NBC. | CottonSalad
03.29.22 | Totally agree. Figure Number Five feels like an attempt to change lanes in a way that wasn't anywhere close to successful until Stabbing the Drama, but they knocked it out of the park the second time - Speedcore. | Dewinged
03.29.22 | nah, can't agree, both albums share the same formula, maybe FNF it's a bit softer but it has some of Bjorn's best vocal melodies. I get now that you prefer the heavier side of it, so no surprise you have Predator as #2.
Honestly I love that 3 album run, from Predator to FNF they were absolute fire, I lost interest in them after that. | StormChaser
03.29.22 | can't remember a list i disagreed with more than this one tbh | Muzz79
03.29.22 | It was the big chorus 3 album run of NBC, FN5 and STD that I fell for att. I lost interest after that | gravityswitch
03.29.22 | Best Speed album is the second Disarmonia Mundi album obv.
I discovered Soilwork with NBC so it'll always be in the first place but Predator's Portrait is a very close second. Needlefeast best song. | MonumentsOfParalysis
03.29.22 | Nice list! StaGD would be more widely enjoyed if it weren't for that god-awful production and guitar tone. But they have some excellent songwriting on it. I especially love the bonus track Martyr.
My top 5 are probably:
1. The Living Infinite
2. A Predator's Portrait
3. Natural Born Chaos
4. The Chainheart Machine
5. Figure Number Five | Assemblage
03.29.22 | Yeah I love some of the bonus track Soilwork like Martyr and Wherever Thorns May Grow. When I was a teen I always bought those special editions XD. | CottonSalad
03.29.22 | Wherever thorns may grow still makes me teary | StormChaser
03.29.22 | To me they peaked at The Ride Majestic and a somewhat close second would be The Living Infinite | Assemblage
03.30.22 | Where would you put Natural Born Chaos and A Predator's Portrait, Storm? |
