InfernalOarsman
01.27.15 | Gotta show my local Denver scene some love. IMHO, Time Is Up is a modern classic. Just like Black Future. |
Totengott
01.27.15 | Nice list, but hmm 30, there's still a Thrash influence on that, but I would call it prog metal. |
InfernalOarsman
01.27.15 | Yeah, Grin is definitely a more progressive album. Still love it though. My personal 2nd favorite from Coroner. |
Parallels
01.27.15 | 1 sucks [2]
Needs more Believer and Voivod |
Totengott
01.27.15 | ''Yeah, Grin is definitely a more progressive album. Still love it though. My personal 2nd favorite from Coroner.''
Yeah, I love that album as well, probably my second favorite Coroner, but then I have three albums of them 5'd, haha. |
Totengott
01.27.15 | Oh and I prefer 20 over 1 by quite a bit. |
InfernalOarsman
01.27.15 | I've always kinda flip-flopped between preferring Ride or Master, but Master usually takes the cake. I mean, Master has Orion, Disposable Heroes, and Leper Messiah. Doesn't get much better than that. |

01.27.15 | See 34.
Was never much of an Anthrax fan. I tried to like them, but it never clicked with me. Spreading the Disease is undoubtedly my favorite from them tho. |

Kill Em All, Among The Living, Blood Fire Death, Illusions...where are they.
Otherwise, good list. Props for 3 8 9 12 17 19 39 45.

01.27.15 | Everyone knows MoP is fantastic. Regardless of where they are now, Metallica made something rather impeccable. Twice. In a row. |
TheSonomaDude
01.27.15 | "Twice. In a row."
I think they made four classic albums in a row. Fuck the poser "ehhh they sold out so all of their albums are GAYYY lulz :p" losers!!! Yah METAL |
TalonsOfFire
01.27.15 | "I like that there's no Anthrax"
lol Just because they're inferior to the other big 4 doesn't mean they don't belong among a list called "Top 50 thrash albums" |
InfernalOarsman
01.28.15 | Kill 'em All is definitely an awesome album, and obviously extremely influential, but it never quite struck the personal note with me to the same degree that Ride and Master did. |
facupm
01.28.15 | nice but 27 is definitely 1 |

thacoconut94
01.28.15 | Being a huge fan of black and death I'm surprised I just cannot get into thrash. I do like my Metallica, megadeath and occasional slayer though |
InfernalOarsman
01.28.15 | I've never heard anyone call Show No Mercy "definitive". It was kinda forgettable actually, without nearly the same speed, intensity, or memorability that albums like Seasons or Reign in Blood had. |
TalonsOfFire
01.28.15 | Slayer's first two are beginning to be my favorites of theirs, everything they did afterwards doesn't sound as interesting or inspired overall |
NeroCorleone80
01.28.15 | Reign in Blood sounds very inspired to me |
TalonsOfFire
01.28.15 | Of course, as is everything in their classic era, but their first two seem the most inspired. That's what I've been finding at least with recent relistens. Many of their best individual songs are on Seasons and Reign though. |
InfernalOarsman
01.28.15 | I'm definitely not knocking Show No Mercy, but to me it seemed like they were still tweaking their sound and giving hints about what was to come. They developed a much darker sound on Hell Awaits, which is also a great album, but they weren't quite there yet. Then Reign in Blood came along and delivered a relentless stream of neck-breaking riffs from start to finish. It was here that they really nailed it. Just my 2 cents. |
InfernalOarsman
01.29.15 | Okay |
adamleyl
02.04.15 | Well it has to be Master Of Puppets whatever anyone says, it's still Master Of Puppets. Nice to see some new additions like Time is Up by Havok. Would put Reign In Blood third though because it's so influential to so many bands after it.
Anyway what everyone forgets is that stuff like Master Of Puppets was revolutionary at it's time and set the bar for thrash. I've also heard people say Black Sabbath is boring now. Well yeah now but if not for Black Sabbath all these bands wouldn't exist. Got to mention Black Sabbath and Diamond Head because without them Thrash wouldn't exist. On that same thought tangent it's like when people say Jimi Hendrix is boring, well yeah but he was one of the first. People always forget that and when the next guy comes along they slag the originator. Honour the architects and Keep Thrashin fuckers :) |
tempest--
02.04.15 | by that logic all music ever created is good and the only thing that could ever be criticised is the first music ever which was prob some caveman hitting rocks with other rocks
"Black Sabbath is boring now. Well yeah now"
lol no |
facupm
02.04.15 | "Black Sabbath is boring now. Well yeah now"
what |
InfernalOarsman
02.06.15 | I love Sabbath as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't call them thrash. I wanted to make this list exclusively devoted to thrash metal. Not thrash and the inspiration for thrash. Keep it metal tho, always keep it metal m/ |
