07.27.16 | 4 is probably the only one that doesn't really fit this list but it's so overlooked had to include it. most of these are pretty sugary indie pop |
Relinquished
07.27.16 | people definitely remember a lot of these cmon. I know lots of people irl and in their circles, and still online, that still love these and/or were influenced by them |
LotusFlower
07.27.16 | 'forgotten' |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | yeah people still love these obv but no one talks about them anymore. maybe 13 is a stretch or even 5 but most of these people don't mention enough IMO |
DoofusWainwright
07.27.16 | the march of the middle hitters right here |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | sure |
StarlessCore
07.27.16 | horrific list |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | not m/ enough for you dude? |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | 4 is amazing, 6 is a great jam but inferior to the first two Shins albums. |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | Also I hate to admit it but I have some nostalgia for 13. |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | need to fully check the first 2 shins albums
and same dude, 13 is nostalgia ridden |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | Def check the first two Shins
Idk if I've ever listened to 13 as an album of my own accord but my dad used to play it when I was like 9 and super impressionable
Also if you want a *real* forgotten 2000s indie gem check ee - Ramadan |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | only way something can be forgotten is if people remembered it at one point. which is why these are all real forgotten albums because they were all pretty popular during their time
but ill check those Boney thanks |
NastyCrab
07.27.16 | I honestly don't feel like most of these albums really fit the bill as being "forgotten" |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | True I guess Ramadan is more overlooked than forgotten. Either way it's great |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | most people KNOW these
not a lot of people listen to these a ton anymore
that's how it goes with Indie-Pop though, just a bunch of fad genres every year but this list shows some great albums that might be overlooked today |
SandwichBubble
07.27.16 | most of these albums really fit the bill as being "forgotten" [2]
Most of these have over 100 votes. |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | i feel like a broken record but I give up trying to explain it to all of you
forgotten doesnt = obscure |
WellFedWhiteMale
07.27.16 | I definitely remember Gossamer more than the last Passion Pit record? I mean, they did put out a record last year or something, right? Maybe they didn't? |
NastyCrab
07.27.16 | I promise I'm not trying to be contrarian but I still hear a lot of songs from these albums on the radio/in stores etc. 1 3 5 6, 11, 12, and even 13 still get a lot of airplay I think |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | I would argue that 12 isn't really "forgotten", Vampire Weekend are still a very popular band and even though that album isn't their highest rated it's definitely their most popular and has many of their best-known songs. :-] |
rabidfish
07.27.16 | that phoenix album is pretty well known, at least I thought so... |
StarlessCore
07.27.16 | "not a lot of people listen to these a ton anymore"
yes, because they suck
|
rabidfish
07.27.16 | lol tru
the kooks one has some tunes, tho |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | where do you hear songs from 1 and 6? I would argue 12 is forgotten because of Modern Vampires/Diane Young taking a lot of it's thunder although I will admit I hear A-Punk every once in awhile. Gossamer is really good but the only song I ever hear is Take a Walk which was a single anyways. maybe 11 is a stretch as well but idk opinions are opinions
also Starless you obv don't like these so you can gtfo of my list |
TVC15
07.27.16 | Maroon 5 was indie? |
wtferrothorn
07.27.16 | No, they're not. They've never been indie. |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | indie pop maybe
that album is more pop though I guess but it was before they blew up |
Typhoon24
07.27.16 | songs about jane was so popular tho. sunday morning was great |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | Sunday Morning is too good. put it on this list because of that song alone tbh |
wtferrothorn
07.27.16 | Before they blew up? That album went 5 times platinum in the US and had multiple Top 10 hits. They've been big since their debut. |
NastyCrab
07.27.16 | @con just the radio for those two I think. Jacksonville has two alt/rock stations so there's a fair amount of variety (and a shit-ton of terrible reggae-rock) |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | you're probably right
but it's my list so they stay |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | impressive @NastyCrab ive literally never heard anything off of 6 on the radio. 1 I used to but never in the past 2 years to my knowledge. I will admit I hear 3 and 10-13 on the radio every once in awhile though |
Drifter
07.27.16 | 10 is the only one I really like from this list |
Conmaniac
07.27.16 | hmm interesting pick |
SandwichBubble
07.27.16 | "forgotten doesn't = obscure"
But all of these have very recent ratings (June-July 2016), so... not forgotten. Sorry if I'm arguing though, I'll stop. |
theBoneyKing
07.27.16 | I gotta say I'm kind of inclined out of morbid curiosity to jam 13 just to see how I would rate it. |
Sinternet
07.27.16 | the kooks are awful sorry |
Sinternet
07.27.16 | 11 is bae |
DoofusWainwright
07.28.16 | 11 is best album on the list
11 is a 3/3.5 at best |
Artuma
07.28.16 | "no one talks about them anymore"
dude the flowery hipster indie pop train is far gone by now |
Conmaniac
07.29.16 | lol fixed |
