My Favorite Records/Artwork Combos
Only albums having a great album artwork among my 30 or 40 favorite records (updated - order not defined by preference). |
1 | | Tool Lateralus
Check out picture disc double LP and CD with translucent booklet versions to understand why I love this. Plus my favorite music ever. "Parabola" music video is a good sum up of Lateralus music and art. |
2 | | Rage Against The Machine Rage Against The Machine
Can't get tired of such a great album. The artwork is a famous photo of a self-immolating monk and it's so greatly appropriate to the ideas involved by the band. |
3 | | King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King
Certainly one of the best paintings to me. It has that jazz/prog/power recalled in "21st Century Schizoid Man". |
4 | | A Perfect Circle Mer de Noms
That logo is definitely genious, plus my favorite APC album for sure, no bad songs in this. Can't get tired of that album. |
5 | | Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
Not my favorite album but the most iconic album pic among pink floyd discography. |
6 | | Pink Floyd Animals
My favorite PF album, plus I love the theme idea of Orwell's "Animal Farm" behind the tracks titles and the flying pig on the cover... |
7 | | Tool Aenima
My 2nd favorite Tool album with a really classy artwork : the special holographic CD version and artworks by Cam de Leon are great too. |
8 | | Isis Oceanic
Oceanic holds one my favorite Isis track : "Weight". Plus the artwork is splendid. |
9 | | Blues Pills Blues Pills
Love that 70's retro cover and music powered up by modern material. |
10 | | Primus Sailing the Seas of Cheese
The album name, artwork add to that circus/crazy metal/funky coalescence music. I love Les Claypool and Primus work. |
11 | | Colour Haze Colour Haze
That cover is deeply haunting. Check out "Mountain" and "Love" songs to get into their great music. |
12 | | The Jimi Hendrix Experience Axis: Bold as Love
Classic album with great psych artwork. |
13 | | Riverside Second Life Syndrome
Dark and artistic music and cover. The talented singer/bass player of this band is really underrated. |
14 | | Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy
I really love this album (especially "No Quarter" and "The Ocean" tracks), plus that great coloured pic reminds my trip to the wonderful Giant's Causeway on the irish coast. |
15 | | Rammstein Mutter
Wonderful pic of a dead fetus (RIP). Epic songs here. |
16 | | Deftones Around The Fur
A perfect sexy frame for this heavy album. |
17 | | Om Conference of the Birds
Discovered Om with "At Giza" and it's still my favorite song. Classy photo artwork. |
18 | | Mastodon Blood Mountain
The artwork with this 3-head beast is splendid and the perfect opening track announce the heaviness of the record. |
19 | | Witchcraft Legend
Great rock music, great clear vocals. A superb lined eagle and logo is a simple but really smart cover. |
20 | | Year Of No Light Ausserwelt
The darker and intriguing cover I know but I love it, plus it fits their slow/dark/heavy music perfectly. See them live if you have the opportunity, such a great experiment... |
21 | | Nirvana Nevermind
Cult album with a great artwork idea. |
22 | | The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
Great pic for such a powerful and energic album. |
23 | | Marriages Salome
Instant love for the artwork and pretty solid songs to me all along this album. |
24 | | Jeff Buckley Grace
Most of the songs on Grace are masterpieces and Buckley's pic fits really well. |
25 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
What a frame ! Black dog, Stairway and When the levee will be forever hits imo... |
26 | | Porcupine Tree In Absentia
My favorite album (and artwork) by such an excellent band. |
27 | | Shora Malval
Too bad this band didn't go on... Malval is one of the greatest EP. Listen to the drums, wow. |
28 | | The Broken Circle Breakdown Bluegrass Band The Broken Circle Breakdown
The tatooed back of the singer (and movie actress) should attract you to one of my favorite O.S.T. |
