Vinyls So Far

Been collecting them since the start of this year and have a decent collection so far. Adding more pretty much every week
1Alt-J
An Awesome Wave

Great debut from a great band. Not really sure where they are headed now that Gwil's
left.
2The Beatles
Revolver

Favorite Beatles record, good mixture of accessibility and experimentation.
3The Beatles
Magical Mystery Tour

I Am the Walrus. That's pretty much the entire reason I purchased this.
4Between the Buried and Me
The Silent Circus

This album used to really do something for me. Not as big of a fan now, but the platter
is a blue marble that is sick.
5Between the Buried and Me
Colors

I throw this one on a bit more than Silent Circus. Better songwriting and I actually
love the concept somewhat as a joke.
6 Cursive
Mama I'm Swollen

Picked this one up in high school. Probably my favorite Cursive record for nostalgia's
sake. "What have I done?" is boss.
7Depeche Mode
Violator

Picked this up randomly and fell in love with it. Lots of depth with the lyrics and the
synths are at peak form.
8Death Grips
The Money Store

Goes hard. Pretty much the closest thing to insanity in rap music and I love the
experimentation. MC Ride's lyrics are sporadic but work well for the style. Like if DEP
went rapping
9Flying Lotus
Los Angeles

Really gritty industrial beats. Fly Lo has a sound all his own, and it gets a lot better on
record.
10Flying Lotus
Until the Quiet Comes

Flying Lotus gets more tribal and the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed. This release
caught me off guard after listening to cosmogramma a bit first. After a while the style
grew a lot on me.
11Frank Sinatra
In the Wee Small Hours

Really wanted to have Sinatra on vinyl. Just as good as I thought it would be.
12Johnny Cash
Hello, I'm Johnny Cash

Another "because it's vinyl" buy. Has a couple of great tracks and reminds me of what
a huge influence he is.
13Mastodon
The Hunter

I actually really enjoy this one compared to CTS and Leviathan. Its a pretty straight
forward metal record with bits of experimentation. Awesome metal record and I'm
looking forward to what they do next.
14Miles Davis
Kind of Blue

Like jazz a lot, and this is just a standard I thought I would pick up early. Classic
record that's great to listen to any time.
15Nas
Illmatic

Nas has a way with his words. And its pretty good. The beats are what shine to me on
a record. I'd heard this thing a lot, but having it on vinyl makes the boom bap style
sound great.
16The National
High Violet

My favorite National Record. Something about the upbeat nature of the music mixed
with Berninger's always great vocals makes this one better for me. The abstract lyrics
that are on this record also resonate a bit more with me.
17The National
Trouble Will Find Me

If each National record represents a period of Matt Berninger's life, I'm not sure I
want to make it to 40. Pink Rabbits has become a favorite.
18Nick Drake
Five Leaves Left

Couldn't miss out on this opportunity. I like the arrangements (or lack thereof) a lot
more on FLL rather than Pink Moon. An incredibly talented guy, I feel like his influence
has become a bit more noticeable in recent albums.
19Propaghandi
Failed States

Progressive Punk. Those two don't normally go together well for me, but this album is
heavy. Very heavy.
20Radiohead
Ok Computer

I've had Kid A for about five years. It took a while to set in, which is most likely why I
never picked this up. I made myself not listen to this until I found it in town. Not
disappointed in the slightest. Gotta say I prefer the more experimental nature of Kid A
but this album is fantastic.
21Sigur Ros
Kveikur

Saw this at the store and had to pick it up. Hadn't heard Sigur Ros' "new style" yet but
became a fan pretty quickly. Still not as good as some of their earlier work, but that is
hard to beat.
22Silversun Pickups
Carnavas

Nostalgia Ultra. I saw these guys live a long time ago and they put on a hell of a
show. I know there are people who have done it better, but for me as a kid this was
pretty revolutionary.
23 The Who
Who's Next

Classic record with a lot of classic songs. Keith Moon's bangin shit all day.
24Wilco
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

I know that I like this album a lot, but I'm pretty late to the bandwagon. It's going to
take me a little bit to get all of the subtleties of this record down but so far I'm lovin it.
