beefshoes 09.27.14	16 GB Zune HD. I was planning on upgrading to something like the iPod Classic with expanded memory, but then they discontinued it. If anyone has any recs for something with more memory that won't break the bank, I'd love some feedback.

ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	I recommend my sansa clip+, beef. It's up there if you want a brief look on it. You can have up to 40gb or 72gb on it, not sure which one, but it's still a lot more than what you have now i guess

Archelirion 09.27.14	4 of the Clip+'s and 2 of the Clip Zip's. The first two were my fault as I used to wind my headphones round the mp3 when not in use while still plugged in. The third (a Zip) decided to just not work one day and never did again, and then the fourth did the same as well. The fifth would loop the starting cycle like a corrupt computer, and the 6th, and most recent, decided to corrupt the FAT files, and then my computer refused to acknowledge it's existence when I tried to rectify it. Basically, I probably won't use one of those again. Annoyingly, I like having the SD space too much to get an iPod.
Gwyn. 09.27.14	My phone broke and I dunno when I'm gonna get to repair it, it's been weeks now in the meantime I have this old ass sony walkman of 6gb, which I use all the time whenever I'm outside I just use my laptop when in my home

ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	I suppose, but you'll never understand the convenience of drag and drop. A mini SD card will supplement memory requirements fine, unless you need a 160gb memory store or something
ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	@futures not really. Mine has a clip, for sports usage. it also has a radio player, audiobooks and voice recorder. You wouldn't want a shit tonne of memory without good sound quality too, you'd want managing your files to be easy and simple. Memory really isn't everything

bakkermaarten007 09.27.14	I started out with an iPod nano first gen. Then I used my cellphone for a while (one of these Nokia Xpress Music series) and finally switched for good to a Sony Walkman (built-in amps are top notch in these devices).

ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	@futures well not all devices has a clip, and from what i've read and heard from reviews, apple products really don't have the best sound quality. Also, itunes sucks and drag and drop is the way forward. @Bakk looks good man. How much memory is that rocking?
TMobotron 09.27.14	I WAS using a sansa clip + w/ 128gb microSD, but I started having so many problems with that thing. It worked fine for awhile, browsing the DB was a little laggy I'm assuming because it's not meant to handle 128gb (have to install rockbox to make it work). But it just got slower and slower and now it's like unusably slow for some reason. BTW, talking about drag and drop like it's a convenient feature makes me sad. Drag and drop should be the norm, iTunes is maybe the worst piece of software currently in use. I'm not sure what I'm gonna get next because I absolutely cannot stand to use iTunes but I've lost my faith in the clip. I can't believe there isn't just an obvious MP3 player out there that functions basically like a portable HD with a music player. That's all I want. Large capacity, drag and drop, play my music.

I just quickly remove those I don't listen to as frequently anymore and add new ones. Superquick. Though I'm planning on upgrading to one that'll hold up to 192 gb (with memory card).

ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	@TMobtron pretty sure the clip+ is only supposed a handle a 32gb sd card. A clip Sport and Clip Zip can both handle a 128gb sd card, but i strongly don't recommend the clip zip because browsing is frustratingly slow as i highlighted above

bakkermaarten007 09.27.14	All that matters in a music player is: quick sync --> drag and drop (fuck iTunes) sound quality (are we music enthussiasts or what? iPods are very average in sound reproduction) built-in amp ('cause I want to drive some decent headphones without the need to carry an external amp with me) And large memory is convenient, but subordinate to all the above.

TMobotron 09.27.14	@Choccy yeah it only can handle 32gb unless you jailbreak it, but the 32 cap is just a software limitation, I don't think there's any reason why 128 should've given it problems (and it worked fine for awhile). Maybe I'll try a clip sport. I'm also tempted to buy another clip and see if maybe mine had a problem because they're so damn cheap (the SD card was the real expense).

ChoccyPhilly 09.27.14	@TMobtron The best thing about Sansa is that it's very affordable. You can get a Clip+ off eBay for about 25 quid now, which is a great price for what it is. I've seen Clip Sports go for around 25-35 or around $50 on the official websites if you're interested
bakkermaarten007 09.27.14	'what do you even mean by that? lol" That iTunes can't retrieve album art for music that is not in its database. Which happens a lot. Music Bee however has a very reliable database and can be used with my Walkman as well (works with all software, even iTunes)
TMobotron 09.27.14	I have problems syncing in iTunes fairly often, and it's just a bloated piece of software that takes way longer than it should to do anything. I add/remove music a lot and I just can't stand to deal with iTunes to do it. I also think that my rockboxed clip when it worked had better functionality as a music player, not to mention its size is a huge plus.

TMobotron 09.27.14	I've had the headphone jack on my ipod come loose twice where it loses one of the channels. The guy in the apple store told me it happens when you plug and unplug your headphones too much, but also told me it can happen from leaving it in your pocket with the headphones plugged in. It's relatively cheap to have fixed but come on, what? I might get an iPod 160 next TBH but I really feel like there should be something better than that out there these days.
