Unpopular opinion I’m sure, but I tried watching Mr. Robot and couldn’t get into it by episode 5 and stopped, seemed like a rip off of ideas from Fight Club, The Matrix, and American Beauty to me. That stylish but also lowlife late ‘90s take down the system kinds of thrillers. Maybe it gets better tho who knows.

Any sort of pager joke, likely just tied into the idea of there being payphones around. I know Jerry had a computer in his apartment, but I don't ever remember anything really involving that. Maybe he had some NYC dial up, but he's a standup comedian so he was out a alot. When he was home he probably would rather watch television and talk on the phone than post on some BBS.

I watched it a several times as an adult and I was like wow this show was actually low key edgy. But that's all I'll say about the boomer shows. Burn Notice was pretty good. And it's second season is perfect. Perfect!

Not his best era, cause I love the episode that concludes the Palmer storyline, and he left to make Wild at Heart which is easily his worst movie besides Dune. Still haven’t watched a show this decade better than Severance.

Ryus 06.02.23	"not even a contest as in sopranos is better than breaking bad?" ya "i think sopranos has higher highs but more filler." i suppose i get it, but being so character-based, there's very little that i would personally call filler except maybe an episode or two. even if they don't advance the plot much there's usually interesting stuff there. breaking bad is honestly just way less substantive, which was super apparent when i tried to rewatch it. there's basically nothing you get the second time that you would've missed the first time. in terms of characters, its really not even close. breaking bad has maybe three decently interesting characters (walt, gus, mike). the sopranos has like 30 lol. in terms of tony vs. walter, the second time you watch "breaking bad" walter is just an unlikable miserable bitch. tony is wayy more multifaceted
90m80s 06.02.23	sopranos is one of those character development experiences where you gradually learn more about each character and wind up disliking them all by the end. that said, sop offers more artfulness making it open for interpretation. tony is terrifying esp in dreams he looks practically demonic in his mannerisms and attitude. great show and the ending obvs offers opportunity to go deeper. bb doesnt really give a deeper moment. bcs was pretty good but the end was just sad and felt rushed plus pulled in some bb crap to wrap it all up prettily.

TalonsOfFire 06.02.23	I’ve only seen the first two seasons of The Sopranos, and heard each season is weaker than the previous, which I don’t know for sure cause I haven’t watched more but BB and BCS are both way better imo. Also Game of Thrones is one of the best shows ever, they just fumbled the landing. Community is solid and I like Modern Fanily a lot, until the last few seasons. Friends and The Big Bang Theory do nothing for me.

TalonsOfFire 06.02.23	First two seasons of Baskets were great and so funny. Zach was by far the best part of the Hangover movies. Everyone on here has said it’s not true that Sopranos gets worse as it goes on so maybe I’ll keep watching. I just remember the characters got repetitive and came across one dimensional with how slimy and immoral they always were and not much was progressing. Was watching with a parent tho who wasn’t into that after a while so maybe that colored my outlook. It was good but don’t get why it’s considered so amazing, forgive my heresy. I thought The Wire was a bit more impressive from what I saw, tho I don’t think that’s one of the all time greatest shows either.

TalonsOfFire 06.02.23	Twin Peaks is one of the goat too, especially if you include s3/The Return. And FWWM is essential to The Return btw, and some of the scenes in The Missing Pieces are pretty important too. Succession ended really strong, that last season was quite impressive.
