Concert Review: Paul McCartney And Sun Kil Moon

A review of two concerts I've attended from a week or 2 ago.
1The Beatles
Abbey Road

I went to the Paul McCartney concert at the Fargo Dome and I was definitely
satisfied by the show. I've heard great things about Paul live and he didn't
disappoint but he didn't surprise me either. His setlist was fantastic with over 20
Beatles songs and almost 40 songs total.
2The Beatles
Let It Be

And while the setlist had a ton of classics from the Beatles and the Wings, there
was still a few ok songs from his recent albums that made the set. Also even
though I knew the crowd would be much older than me, I'm still disappointed by
their energy. I mean they did scream inbetween songs, but they were never raising
the roof. That's why the Wonder Years concert I went to earlier this year has been
my favorite concert experience. The crowd was just insane, and I had a ton of fun
screaming the lyrics along with audience, but that didn't happen with this concert.
The crowd was pretty mediocre until Live and Let Die and then they finally started
to get into it.
3The Beatles
Revolver

But really I'm nitpicking since Paul was fantastic. His voice was great, he played so
many good Beatles songs, and he played for an extremely long time for a man of his
age. Even though he played almost 40 songs, it felt like it lasted for only a few
seconds. His stage setup at the Fargo Dome was also pretty neat and entertaining
visually with monitors on all sides of the stage

Band on the Run

The only bad thing about the concert was the meh crowd, everything thing else
was wonderful so I'd give this concert an A-.

I also got an awesome shirt

and I regret nothing
6Sun Kil Moon
Among the Leaves

The only reason I went to Sun Kil Moon was because I love Benji. It's my AOTY
2014 and it really resonates with me but I couldn't get into Mark's other albums
before the concert so this was all I really knew. This concert was pretty
disappointing it might be even worse than the Avenged Sevenfold concert I went to
and that's saying a lot.
7 Actual Wolf

The only opening act for Sun Kil Moon. An average local band. That is all.
8Sun Kil Moon
Benji

the Sun Kil Moon concert was held at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis and they
have apparently one of the nicest bathrooms in all of the US. That might be the
best part about this concert honestly. It was pretty cool.
9 Mark Kozelek & Jimmy Lavalle
Perils from the Sea

The audio was terrible. I couldn't even tell what he was singing when he was
playing songs off of Benji, and I love that album. Also Sun Kil Moon has no stage
presence or energy, they sat the whole set doing as little movement as possible.
10Sun Kil Moon
April

Mark's banter inbetween each song was very entertaining though. He told this story
about a 25 year old girl coming up to him and saying that he's made a masterpiece
with Benji, and then he said that he has been making masterpieces since the early
90's I had a hard time telling whether he was being sarcastic or if he was an
condescending asshole but either way I found it enjoyable. My favorite part was
when a drunk girl in the front yelled about her birthday being today, and then Mark said he
would play any song for her if she should could name at least 3 Sun Kil Moon songs. Her
and her friends only came up with 2. Then Mark said 2 was better than other drunk girls at the front of his concerts. I
probably described that moment awfully, but long story short it was pretty funny. Besides Mark's interactions with the
crowd and the bathrooms this concert was a dud. They didn't even sell any merch,
or I couldn't find it but either way that was pretty shitty as well. For being my first
18+ show Sun Kil Moon was a disappointment and I wouldn't recommend seeing
them live. I'd give the concert a C
