hmm generally can see a lot of this
i rate sheffield utd to go straight back up though, they have a talented squad who just lost their way last season and should certainly challenge at a championship level
my money's on watford being bottom straight back down (my apologies to ben foster), and i'd probably say this is finally the year burnley don't quite have enough. hard to pick another but brentford are a bit of an unknown quantity so i'd opt for them.
think you've nailed prem top 10 though, should be a 3 way battle between us and the two manchester's, with liverpool slightly off the pace as they ease back to normality
i'd say everton are going to have a mare this season but every time they look shite they do alright and when they have a great summer they fuck it up in the league somehow so don't wanna speak too soon |

08.08.21 | It's between those top 4 of course. Considering how bad we were second half of the season yet still finished 3rd when we had a settled ,if average, central defence and midfielders back in midfield is unbelievable really. Henderson, fabinio and thiago have played ONCE together. A lot depends on Gomez and VVD (and matip) staying fit but with Konate in there now even if all 3 went again we're better off. My biggest concern is Gini leaving who played every week and relying on Keita or even Ox who are both made of crisps. Although any signing wouldbtop the progression on Jones and Elliot into the first team who are both ready. WeCan't carry Firminio for another season either so I'd like to see us buy one more but we still have the most settled 11 and settled system with City when fit and without debilitating injuries again in a single position we'll challenge of course. Klopp and Peps teams are machines at this point. Although we have to show last year WAS the injuries and not a downward slope. The numbers Klopps out up every season shows well be there but sooner or later the lack of spending from the board will allow others to surpass us. If city get Kane I think they'll win it. Chelsea still in honeymoon period with Tuchel so see how that goes when a bad spell comes. Expect Werner to to get 20 this year though and their squad is fantastic. Utd will bottle it when they're got 30000 people calling them cunts again.
City,Chelsea,Liverpool,Utd, Leicester, spurs, villa, Leeds, West ham, arsenal top 10
Norwich , Watford,Newcastle down
Everton in a relegation battle.
Think villa will have great season and spurs maybe above Leicester if they replace Kane with martinez

08.08.21 | I think Man City will ace it. Their squad depth is insane. However, Chelsea could potentially be a dark horse for the league based on Tuchel's impact and the fact Lukaku will be coming in and will definitely bag with the supply of Werner, Havertz and Ziyech |

rabidfish
02.21.22 | Lukaku is a great striker, but damn the serie A really brought out his best form. He should've stayed in italy. if not Inter, then Milan or Juve. |
Sinternet
02.21.22 | the problem is he's a striker who relies on direct service into him on the counter whereas the rest of the team is built for a more possession-based total control system. i think he'll come good eventually, he's still got the strength and finishing ability we bought him for, but in games where we're stuck on the edge of the box trying to pass it round looking for a gap in the defence his biggest weakness (his first touch) more often than not comes into play. but hey drogba was underwhelming his first season here too and he's the best striker we've ever had and who lukaku models himself on from what i remember in interviews, so i'll at least give him a season and a half to either adapt or have the team adapt around him.
more pressing problem is that pulisic has been utter wank this season and if not for injuries and very busy schedules should really barely feature, every time he hits a decent run of form he gets injured. i really would like to see him go out on loan to another club at a high level where he could be a dead-on starter in his proper position, he needs the confidence and development still. think half the reason we bought and are holding on to him has to be for marketing in the US.
we're still in all cup comps though and james should be coming back in the next week or so. so once the schedule clears a little i think we might have a bit more rhythm in the team |
DoofDoof
02.21.22 | I thought Pulisic was a typical (annoyingly) astute signing to replace Hazard…but he’s really dropped off (mainly thanks to injuries)
Big surprise, thought he was guaranteed to be a success at Chelsea |
Deez
02.22.22 | Serie A is nowhere near the Prem quality is also the Problem. Our B team turned over Milan on their park in a game they had to win. Madness. Inter were every bit as good if not better than us last week even though we won 2-0 and can see why Lukaku would back a load in that league. Ibra still doing it at like 51 or whatever.
Exactly what you said sin. When he was Everton and the like on the counter hes superb but when you have to face low blocks (urgh) against teams who are happy with a point against the european champions hes fking useless. It is indeed mad how bad Drogba was that first season hahah what a player and of coure NICE ONE SPURS!! I still think CIty win the league but its mad how people were saying its over when it still would have been only 6 points if we won games in hand and CIty to play.
They did it with us last year after we went 5 clear in december. Said there was no stopping us, look what happend.

02.22.22 | 'the problem is he's a striker who relies on direct service into him on the counter whereas the rest of the team is built for a more possession-based total control system'
whilst this is undoubtedly true, you have to ask why are we signing players that don't suit the manager's system. Sure, Tuchel could've said no, but coaches don't tend to reject proven commodities when offered to them when the alternatives are of lesser rep. We've been here before and I'm concerned the club will once again choose the big money signing over the coach. Fortunately Tuchel had enough about him to put the whole interview fiasco to bed without much fuss and appears to be trying to play Rom into some form/make this work somehow.
The service hasn't been great, but honestly I'm struggling to see how any striker can have 7 touches in a full 90 minutes. At least when Timo plays he makes the runs consistently, regardless of whether the ball ever looks like arriving. Rom often doesn't even attempt anything other than his one basic move in-behind. Otherwise he's a statue. It's like playing with 10 men.
We're a better team without him in the side. |

Demon of the Fall
04.28.22 | fair enough, the whole concept of a 'big club' is at least somewhat subjective because there isn't exactly a set criteria, where's the line?
easiest one is weekly attendances I suppose, but even that's outdated due to the modern 'global' era and some clubs having logistical issues with regards to stadium redevelopment etc. You could use yearly revenue. What about trophies won? Then how far back do you go? All a bit silly really. |

05.17.22 | I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea turn into what Manchester United have been post-fergie under this new ownership |

05.29.22 | please i have suffered enough all i ask is not to find out tomorrow morning that Huddersfield won the playoff |

05.29.22 | Been a hell of a week. The last game of the season was incredible. Was meant to come on here to say that but couldn’t remember any of these random as fuck albums to find the list. |

05.29.22 | just anyone but liverpool or city next year please
maybe notts to win the league |
Shemson
05.29.22 | Yeah Zak, I really enjoyed watching that drama unfold knowing we were safe
Don’t think I could’ve taken it without our massive comeback against Palace 🤣 |
Egarran
05.29.22 | Poor Liverpool. They deserved a goal. But I understand that everyone else in England is very happy with the result. |
Deez
05.29.22 | Weve had Alisson save us many times
Read had Courtious save them.
Its how it goes. |

05.31.22 | Happy that Spurs beat Arsenal for 4th, that the Toffies are safe, and to see Nottingham in the top flight for the first time in my sentient life. |

Demon of the Fall
05.31.22 | 'I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea turn into what Manchester United have been post-fergie under this new ownership'
It could happen, but any comparison at this stage is incredibly lazy. Liverpool also have American owners and they have a completely different (better) approach to Utd. In fact I've read more inside sources likening Boehly & cos approach to that of Liverpool's ownership than Utd's. i.e. heavy use of analytics based scouting rather than over-paying for 'names', sticking to a coach and building around their needs rather than chopping and changing etc.
I guess we'll see. |

05.31.22 | Yank and Arab ownership
Dead game |
Demon of the Fall
05.31.22 | I don't actually care where the owners of any club are from, but the politics can fuck right off
It's always been there under the surface to an extent, just not on this scale. You have entire nations (or at least their 'representatives' trying to one-up each other via a game of bloody footy). Swear I remember simpler times, or maybe I was just naive? Either way sport should be an escape from all this crap. |
zakalwe
05.31.22 | If you go to any lower league game the soul is there because the club still presides as a massive part of the local community and all the money, greed, business acumen and bollocks hasn’t seeped in.
It’s just football which is all any of us want.

Demon of the Fall
05.31.22 | true zak, true
Unfortunately when you've been following the same club for 25+ years you can't just quit. I actually think my love for the 'game' at the top level died some time ago. I'm just a fan who made a decision as a kid and didn't realise the lifetime of consequences. I got lucky to be fair (in success terms), but my club also became a big part of the problem.
I could follow the lower leagues, but honestly I don't really care outside of some very general curiosity. I guess most people probably just end up being interested in whatever level their own team currently participates in. |

06.01.22 | I feel the same Demon in that I’ll always love Everton but I’m not sure I love the game the same way anymore.
Fortunately Everton In The Community do fantastic work so we do still have a lot more of that communal vibe than some of the soulless super powers do. Just a shame we’re crap at football 🤣 |
zakalwe
06.01.22 | Unfortunately it’s coming Everton’s way once the new ground is built.

06.01.22 | do not kid yourselves evertonians that you aren't fucking loaded and soulless too, you just have feckless owners unlike us on the red side |

06.01.22 | nah was soulless then too, where my Clapham Rovers fans at? |
Shemson
06.01.22 | I never said we weren’t loaded, we’re a premier league mainstay owned by an Iranian billionaire ffs, I said we do a lot of good work in the community and I don’t think you can be soulless if you have that presence. |
Jasdevi087
06.01.22 | souln't |

10.29.22 | Thoughts on the season so far?
It really sucks seeing the midlands clubs struggle with so much instability across divisions. Villa should be fine with Emery on board (no excuses honestly), but it'd be shocking if Wolves and Forest somehow manage an escape from relegation, and talk about a plunge for Leicester.
And Fulham...what a solid outing. Still above Liverpool in the table, churning out some genuinely exciting performances |

10.29.22 | things are going to get way worse in wolverhampton before they get better |
beefshoes
10.29.22 | Absolutely stupid situation. They should have replaced Lage over the summer break, given how poor their run was at the end of the last season. Assuming they find a suitable fit to take over after the World Cup, maybe they have a chance at avoiding relegation. Shame really, given how talented their squad is, and how strong they've generally been since having been promoted. |
Deez
10.29.22 | Seasons pretty much how expected tbh apart from maybe Arsenal for now and yeah likes of Fulham and Bournmouth too since O neil took over. Of course Liverpool would be the main one but Klopp can only churn so much out of an ageing squad without freshening up that midfield. Utd/Spurs hit and miss as usual. City will have it won by March. |
Egarran
10.29.22 | Noo Haaland not even on the bench. It will be another sad round for my fpl team. |

10.29.22 | Since ESPN+ picked up the rights to the championship here in the states, I've honestly had as much fun, if not more following it than the prem (at least the top six). |
beefshoes
10.29.22 | About Liverpool, I feel like they'll come back in better form after the world cup, and especially if they can land a couple of good midfielders in the next transfer window. Given TAA's strengths as a playmaker, I'm surprised that Klopp hasn't tried him there, and especially given how spotty his defending has been this season. That match against City a couple of weeks ago (and that screamer from Salah) was definitely a highlight. |
Deez
10.29.22 | Yeah the championships fun, but extremely hard to get out of
Problem is with Liverpool is they tend top have a list of 1/2/3 and if theyre not available we wait and can leave us lacking (as it has again in the middle) this team would have won everything if it wasnt for a FFP skirting Man City and their fake Sponsorships but here they are at the end of that cycle and need a refresh. |
beefshoes
10.29.22 | It's gotta be demoralizing too having two seasons coming just a point short of the title, and losing two UCL finals with (mostly) the same squad. Losing Mané surely didn't help morale either.
Fucking oil money. Newcastle as a club deserve a bit of success for sure, but it's going to be a bit nauseating seeing the title race come down to a wank off between Emirati and Saudi cash. |
Shemson
10.30.22 | I think it’s best ignoring where all football money comes from or football will make you sad. The money in the premier league nowadays means all clubs are run by shady fucks tbh, a vast majority of whom don’t know shit about football and don’t really care about the club they own, it’s just another asset. |
