08.02.19 | This well finish second (Liverpool) but further away than last season and closer to Spurs in 3rd than first. Origi is a legend for how he ended teh season but hes still simply not good enough to have to fill in for 5 plus games in salah/Bobby,Mane are injured which we got away with last season and brewsters a kid but IF we get Ox,Keita,Gomez back injury free this season the squads not as light as people think. Still surprised we didnt get Fekir for half price. Clearly Klopp felt we needed a 10 last season. Arsenal have done good business but will still be shite at the back. Spurs could probably do with another forward too but

08.02.19 | The optimist in me says Spurs 2nd but realistically we're getting 3rd unless we sign Lo Celso - if we lose Rose and Eriksen then we're out of the top 4, though.
City'll win, I guess Liverpool second (though I think they overachieved like crazy last year); I think Villa will stay up for sure, I see Norwich, Brighton and Sheffield going down.
The sooner this season starts the better, I'm fucking bored |
Pheromone
08.02.19 | There's been some good signings this window; Wan Bissaka, Haller, Pepe, NDombele, Everton's usual busy shtick. Seems a harder to predict season than the last |
Deez
08.02.19 | 'though I think they overachieved like crazy last year'
why? Best defence in Europe (23 goals) and Lost 1 game. Rode our luck a few times and a few decisions but no more or less than City.

08.02.19 | Villa's defence post-January after Dean Smith had a chance to add to the 1 CB Steve Bruce left behind was pretty stellar...and it only has improved
no seriously Bruce actually went into a season with just James Chester as a recognized senior central defender and thought Mile Jedinak would pick up the slack beside him. also permanently damaging Chester's body in the process. really happy the bastard is gonna take Newcastle down this season |
Jasdevi087
08.02.19 | Bruce deserves an absolute shocker this season for abandoning my poor babies Wednesday like that |
Deez
08.02.19 | Theres some good players in that team still but fucking Bruce....
I think theyll just avoid it but if they lose longstaff and a few others start wanting out in January they could will get binned

Jasdevi087
08.02.19 | they have like, zero attacking threat and a pretty average backline tho so I feel like their success last season was purely Benitez being a god |

08.02.19 | I don't see united or arsenal finishing above us tbh even with us losing hazard, we've looked pretty good in preseason with a less than first team squad |
Sinternet
08.02.19 | Also brighton should stay up I think, their defence is fairly decent, and they've made some alright signings. All depends on whether Potter can improve their attacking play. |
Faraudo
08.02.19 | Nicolas fucking Pepe.
If we get Tierney and a CB we could be contenders tbh. |
Deez
08.02.19 | No chance. Youd need all those to hit the ground running in their first season and even then. 3rd Max |
Jasdevi087
08.02.19 | fam you conceeded 3 to Reading, settle down |
Faraudo
08.02.19 | If we get a good CB and get rid of Mustafi I really can't find a weak link on the team. Holding is coming back, Bellerin is coming back, Ceballos will easily fill Ramsey's void for the season, etc. There is plenty of youngsters like Willock (The best of the bunch), Reiss Nelson, Nketiah, Martinelli and Guendouzi that can play the Europa League games/cup games.
I can realistically see Arsenal being a contender ONLY if we get a CB. Tierney would be amazing as well, but it may be one or the other, now that we've spent 80 million on Pepe.
Besides, I think that Ozil will have a great season, he's been looking pretty good on preseason and now he's got a potentially world-class winger at his disposal. |
Jasdevi087
08.02.19 | that and you've got a manager with a bit more experience in the arena (than chelsea) |
DoofDoof
08.02.19 | Think my beloved spurs might shit the bed this time - distinct lack of posi vibes coming from the camp and no signings yet again. They’ve still only replaced dembele - why always a window behind?
Unless that significantly changes this week I see 5th to 7th for spurs. Man U will be annoying and have a solid top 3 season. One of Chelsea and Arsenal will get their act together - one won’t. A ‘non expected top 6’ side will break the top 6 - I’d like to think Leicester but it could be someone else.
At gun point I’d go:
1. Man City (10 pts+ clear)
2. Man U (less than 2pts ahead of Liverpool)
3. Liverpool
4. Chelsea (6pts+ behind Liverpool)
5. Spurs (same pts worse GD than Chelsea lol)
6. Leicester
7. Arsenal (same pts worse GD than Leicester)
8. Everton (5pts+ behind Arsenal)
9. West Ham
10. Wolves
Relegation? Maybe Norwich, Brighton and not sure but Newcastle will flirt with that last spot. |

Man United has no coach to compete with Guardiola and Klopp, in my opinion. |
Sinternet
08.02.19 | no idea how i see top 6 turning out but i'd say burnley, sheffield and bournemouth are my relegation picks |
Pheromone
08.02.19 | Doof how do you see us out of the top 4? Arse, United and Chelsea all have a worse squad than ours even with the lack of signings. NDombele is Dembele with a final pass - the only way I see us out of the top 4 is if we lose both Eriksen and Rose with no big replacements. |
Pheromone

Sinternet
08.02.19 | i mean duffy and dunk are a good cb partnership, their midfield is fairly decent, ryan is probably the best keeper among the lower table teams. their whole season is really dependent on if they can play better attacking football, which hopefully under potter should mean that that's a priority for them. if they fail in that i'd def back them for relegation but if not i think they do a 12th/13th finish, and i have faith they will. |

joshieboy
08.02.19 | Arsenal are stacked up front and in midfield but have a bottom half team's defence. Reckon they'll be high up on goals scored but like 6th-7th in goals conceded. |
Keyblade
08.02.19 | apart from Ceballos and maybe Torreira, even their midfield isn't that good tbh |
joshieboy
08.02.19 | Xhaka is good on his day but yeah inconsistent for sure. Ozil, well, when he decides to fucking play, he can be world class. Defence is a shambles coz Mustafi sucks. Arsenal are just gonna be that team that tries to outscore everyone. That front 3 of Lacazette, Aubameyang and Pepe is pretty exciting. |
Sinternet
08.02.19 | gonna be honest i agree, i don't see an ozil redemption arc happening and laca and auba being clinical has saved them way too many times. I guess they may get better delivery this year with improvements to the squad, but as soon as you break arsenals pressure higher up on the pitch they unravel quite easily, as they did in the EL final |
Piglet
08.02.19 | mustafi is a bit of a scapegoat considering his ability. Hes great in the air and at set pieces, good marking and positional awareness, not the worst at tackling, just dives in too often and makes soyboy mistakes which get blown out of proportion. And for all this carry on about needing a cb, arsenal need a bluddy rb. i don't care what people say about bellerin he's the real headless chook at the back. They might as well play a sentient pea instead. |

Maguire is an ok player lol, nothing out of the ordinary. Even Ozil made him look like a Fidget Spinner last year.
|
Deez
08.03.19 | Hes much better on the ball than off it. Salah has had him off a few times by drawing him out and turning on him because hes very slow on the turn, Peps seemed to have gone for that tactic against Leicester a few times too, maybe cos of his 40 stone head I dunno. The price even though ridiculous, The Mancs can afford. If it makes them better its worth it I guess but how much better he will remains to be seen. |
Faraudo
08.03.19 | I wouldn't really take Maguire at Arsenal, he's way too expensive and I don't think that he's better than Sokratis, for example. Holding has even more potential, but his season got fucked by injuries.

08.09.19 | Spurs actually have a midfield now.
We got to the CL final without a midfield which was one of the strangest footballing feats of recent years.
We also now have pace from the bench as we won’t start all of Son, Moura and Sessegnon every game.
So two biggest weaknesses addressed. If we’d got a second forward I’d have said we’d challenge for top 2. As it is the biggest issue is we’ve got rid of Llorente and replaced him with a teenager named Parrott. Sqwaaaark! 🦜 |
Jasdevi087
08.09.19 | Parrott didn't look half bad in pres tho, he'd be perfectly capable in the cup matches and maybe even in some of the smaller away games

08.09.19 | Can't help but think utd will finish a distant 6th. That midfield is far too shallow and if Pogba is removed for any amount of time due to injury or suspension, it is completely without flair or creativity in the middle of the park. Has Matic got it in him to play 50 odd games in all competitions as well? McT is promising but Fred has looked out of his depth. Best defense they've had in years but you have to wonder if there is enough in the middle of the park to feed a very inexperienced attack. |

DoofDoof
08.09.19 | Everton are due a good season...but I don't really see them all that much stronger than West Ham, Wolves and Leicester.
Hate to say it but West ham probably have the tidiest squad and perhaps the canniest manager of that bunch. Could see them crash the top 7 |
Jasdevi087
08.09.19 | anyone wanna talk about the fact that Derby literally signed Wayne fucking Rooney? |
Demon of the Fall
08.09.19 | The only thing giving me hope that Chelsea can finish 4th is the potential incompetence of Arsenal's defence/midfield shield and 'Ole's at the wheel' Utd being shambolic akin to the end of last year. I'm more confident in the latter than the former, I think Arsenal's attack will bail them out just enough to snatch 4th. Also, Luiz may have his faults but he automatically becomes their best CB - why Arsenal? FFS.
Your predictions look closer than anyone else's (in the comments section) to me, mine would probably be very similar (although we might edge Utd, through their incompetence more than anything). |
Kiran
08.09.19 | Couldnt believe West Ham managed to lure Haller but players rate Pellegrini, he's a great manager. Should be a fun squad to watch at the least, managed to hold on to Rice and Diop as well |

Anthony Taylor FROM MANCHESTER should never be allowed City or Utd games its a farce. |
Deez
08.11.19 | Joking arent you? Liverpool and Spurs have a far better and settled 11 and both have quality on the bench now.
United will be 4th-6th There is a big gap in quality and how teams play between the top 3 and then 3-6. Its up to Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal to bridge that and I dont see it this year. Pogba was horrendous first half. Chelsea put those chances away hes getting slated first day of the season. Instead he pulls a few superb assists out his arse which he can do. Thin lines. |
zakalwe
08.11.19 | Shite |
Deez
08.11.19 | Under 2 different managers. I still dont see a style of play under the hobbit.
The gap is quite clear for anyone who watches how the top 3 harry and press and play without the ball as well as on it. To be honest I thought Chelsea looked the closest to breaking that at the start of Sarris season but no. The top 3 are miles ahead. |
Deez
08.11.19 | A better team than Chelsea goes in 2 up minimum. A team without 2 Championship players from last season might very well do the same. You can only read so much into first games of the season theyre always a slog but I dont see anything and havent seen anything from United for a long time. And definitely not in a 30 minute spell where hlesea fell in on themselves after being teh better team for 60. Theyll get destroyed by Liverpool, Spurs and City at least once. Pogba only shows up at 2-0/3-0. Theyre in the mix for CL for sure but nothing more. |
Deez
08.11.19 | hahah No chance in hell Pogbas getting 20 hahhaa |
Deez
08.11.19 | hahaha 8 of them were penalties! If he was on emotion strike last season whats he going to be on this already telling teh world its time to move on.
Hes no where near Citys quality. He wouldnt even get into our midfield. Hes an instagram player, A youtube highlight. Capable of insanse quality for a few moments a game but his lack of workrate and constantly looking for fouls because his flicks dont go right make him a huge liability in this league. He got a few great assists today because they were there but they could easy of been behind because of the amount of times he lost the ball in the first half. Thats Pogba |
Deez
08.11.19 | it's a new United defence - thought they showed some promise'
Chelsea had 7 shots on target in a game they lost 4 nil. Wan Bissaka is a great signing. Personallly I think Maguire will get found out without an Ndidi in front of him. Linelof the jury is out still and That fat bastard luke shaw will be injured withong 3 months. But hey...well see wont we |
Deez
08.11.19 | but I think he does have the talent.'
Oh absolutely no doubt about it man, Insane talent. |
Jasdevi087
08.12.19 | Wan-Bissaka was the real 80 million dollar defender. Chelsea looked way more dangerous on attack but I think it's mostly because Man United have no fucking midfield presence, you can see why solskjaer was so desperate for a midfielder at the end of the window
Lampard was naive af for thinking that playing Zouma was going to be anything other than a disaster |
Keyblade
08.12.19 | huge gap between the top 3 and the rest. united vs chelsea looked like a championship match in comparison
also, reading ppl talk about pogba you'd think he was sully muntari or some shit, put some respek on his name |
Jasdevi087

Keyblade
08.12.19 | lol chelsea and united aren't touching liverpool or spurs
the gap between the top 1 and liverpool was 1 point. the gap between liverpool and 5th place was 27 points. they're not dropping out of the top 4. that would mean chelsea, arsenal AND united would have to have near perfect seasons. that's not happening |
Keyblade
08.12.19 | i agree city is winning the title again, liverpool might run them close but not as close as last year. but liverpool and spurs are much closer to city than they are united/chelsea/arsenal who themselves are closer to wolves/leicester than they are spurs/liverpool |
Jasdevi087

09.22.19 | It will be interesting today abrahams on fire and weve been conceding despite largely winning apart from in the week and even then were in charge the whole second half until the pen. Chelsea played very well against us in the super cup. We should be to good for them at this moment but a trip back from Napoli on a heavy pitch lets see. Spurs are getting their spursy in early this season. |

09.22.19 | Im coming out (hopefully) of a pretty bad gambling addiction. Ive gambled all my life. Was doing matched betting which was pretty profitable for a year or so made like 15 grand but all that time youre rewiring your brain, Your reward system, Your addiction. Came out with a pretty horrible addiction. Literally tens and tens of thousands. It pisses me off how blahzey people are about it its teh highest suicide rates out of all the addictions. Not every one who drinks is a drunk of course but its a different world now. You can literally lose EVERYTHING you have while on your fucking phone. Kids can do it in secret without anyone knowing. Its real dangerous and a real problem.
This was also tied in to my working in the middle of nowhere though and spending a massive amount of time online. |

09.22.19 | I've never gone above betting £50 in one week, usually more like £25 - and I take long breaks (only just got into it again after eight years away from it - just forgot about it)
Overall from gambling I'd expect I'm about 20% up, had some big wins for little outlay - two fantasy football wins of £1000+ and I've only ever spent a couple of hundred pounds on FF max |
DoofDoof
09.22.19 | have a buddy who cashed out at £1600 on a 12 game accumulator...but then lost it all the same night.
that's fucked, I just asked him 'when would a win be so big you'd be satisfied?' and he couldn't answer
that's when you're fucked |
Deez
09.22.19 | Because you think youve just won 1600 so youll just have a little bit. Soon 300 has gone and youre more obsessed about losing 300 because gambling addicts het hooked on close losses more than winning which has been shown in brain research in relation to gambling addiction. Soon youre down to 1000 and youre just saying 'if i just get that 600 back ill stop ' instead of walking away with a grand you feel like youve lost. Probably place bigger bets at smaller odds maybe doubles or less and someone misses an open goal or a last min pen to give you it all back (the close loss which is really just a loss) soon youre down to a few hundred quid and you dont fucking care anymore so youre throwing it on luthanian 3 division. There is no win big enough. It never ends because theres not an end goal ( ok a few hundred grand or higher) my mate whos an old fella and bets every day said one 'you never really win you just get a temporary loan' worse part is i LOVE having a bet but came to the realisation ive got no control over it anymore |

Deez
09.22.19 | Tim cahill the little grub got it right on MOTD if your gonna be calling 1 mm offside then you need to look at exactly the moment the ball was played too. If youre gonna be that fucking precise then you have to look at that too. Honestly its doing my head in already. You can give an offside for 0.8mm but they won't change a penalty decision when seeing it wasntva penalty because its not a 'clear and obvious' mistake. So fucking dumb. It should be seen as a team effort to get the right decision instead its seen as undermining the ref. Bell ends |
DoofDoof
09.22.19 | 'after Son / Kane missing some routine shots'

09.22.19 | I blame Damon Albarn for making me sympathize with the Chelsea, even though I don't even follow their football matches. |
Deez
09.22.19 | Yeah exactly Key. I mean you either just settle for refs and officials that will get it wrong time to time or have VAR which will be painfully correct to the nearest MM BUT at least thats across the board so it will go for everyone its the law that needs changing , remember 'clear daylight'?? Pens are still not being given (and reds) because they dont want to undermine the ref in that case whats the fucking point? |
joshieboy
09.22.19 | Go fuck yourself Arsenal and go fuck yourself harder Emery. Our style of football fucking blows. Wide open in midfield, allowing players to run unopposed into the box, relying on Aubameyang to save us. Shit. |

But you gotta give him time still, he deserves it if any manager does. |
DoofDoof
09.23.19 | Poch is entering the Wenger frustration years - for his career/sanity he should prob move
Club is a disgrace run by utter cunts I’m afraid. Levy has said it’s the same old austerity for as long as ‘super yacht enthusiast’ Joe Lewis is in charge.
The promise of ‘bigger stadium equals more money for the team’ has already been broken! Not that anyone believed it. Instead you can spend easier on a comfortable stadium with pint glasses that fill from the bottom :/
Yes, supporting spurs is like voting Tory - all gentrification and austerity and money disappearing into anything other than the ‘zero net spend’ playing staff
Please someone make these chancers a deal they can’t refuse before they saddle the club with more debt. Also please make it part of the deal Levy and his successor (his son) out of the club as part of the same said deal. Wankers. |
Pheromone
09.23.19 | Fucking hell, Doof. We got Lo Celso and NDombele, and looked like getting Dybala for a while until image rights got in the way.
That's indication of at least a little (but actually a big) change in the usual tight pocket approach |
DoofDoof
09.23.19 | It’s no indication at all - Dybala purchase maybe would have indicated something.
The only reason it wasn’t zero net spend is from outside other clubs see the situation and are waiting for players contracts to run down/players like Rose and Aurier to agitate for moves.
If Levy could have flogged £70 mill of playing staff he would have. More probably.
Poor old Poch being taken for a ride wearing golden handcuffs (that is the one thing levy will spend on so he doesn’t lose him for anything less than some whopping compensation for a manager - though I think Man Utd or Real Madrid might have a set of keys... |
DoofDoof
09.23.19 | If you want to seriously compete then you don’t purchase a stadium without also buying the sort of players Liverpool have the last few seasons.
Liverpool have spent more on one player than our entire net spend of the last five seasons just about!
We aren’t serious and Poch is waking up to that. We are looking more like that sad team under Wenger after the stadium move
United spent more on Maguire than our five year net spend - I mean c’mon, buying Dembele’s replacement five months late, loaning a Poch signing so we can cut our losses if Poch scampers and a couple of ok kids (Sess was poor in a relegation team last year) is not too ambitious |
DoofDoof
09.23.19 | When your manager starts talking about we’re in this chapter of a larger project then he’s turned into ‘Austerity Wenger’ and you’re fooked |
Pheromone
09.23.19 | Spurs have never had that money. The stadium is a start. Plus who have Liverpool signed in the past few seasons that were more established than NDombele or Lo Celso - they're the same level players, it just payed off for Liverpool. Give it time.
Plus, Poch has always talked of a project in the works (of a larger picture) - it's not anything new. Right now, the mentality is worying, but we've not had a consistent full starting 11 for almost a year now. |
DoofDoof
09.23.19 | We spent a billion on a stadium - we could have spent £100 million (net spend!) on players each of the last five years, perhaps won a few pots, increased the number of spurs fans and ‘the global brand’, whatever they’re looking for.
Then buy a stadium partially financed by success (better sponsors, more fans, etc)
We’ve ALWAYS had that money. The TV money in the game is crazy now. We have had the lowest wage bill in the top 6 or 7 for a long time.
It’s not about winning - we are the next ‘Wenger trophy’ team. Owners want champs league money above any other ‘on the pitch’ concern’. Not replacing dembele last season was criminal imo and showed the true face of Enic. They fucked off that season as over, no investment. Then we reach the CL final which to their minds is just another ‘big event’ along the lines of a concert or NFL game at the new stadium - we have a shite knackered side with no midfield and Liverpool yawn, scratch their collective arses, barely turn up and win knowing there was no oppo in spirit.
Same under Redknapp - January window, sky was the limit...brought in ageing Saha and Ryan Nelson. They have previous with this shit. Austerity make and mend/patch and do. It wins nothing and only brings eventual disharmony and collapse. Owners and chairman are toxic.
Joe Lewis is PLENTY rich, he’s not a fan, cares not a hoot about winning anything beyond it improving the brand/his asset - he won’t take a speculate to accumulate let alone actually spend his money. No chance. |

10.20.19 | Spurs is just the end of the cycle - that’s why I went crazy about the CL final. Manager said it, he was set to leave if they won - that’s the pinnacle for spurs the way they’re currently run/financed. That was the big chance, all the Liverpool fans saying it was equally as make or break for them - no, that club is steadily investing in the squad.
Spurs fans are sort of invincible right now, there’s nothing to lose, rock bottom. The fans were much more invested in the team last season, there’s no team now - everyone’s waiting for the next cycle to begin. Poch almost certainly needs to go, as do half the first 11. It’s played out.
The pressure now should move to the chairman...and the fucking OWNER. Invest. |

Man U have amazed me at how average they still are though, expected a solid top 4 or 5 season from them this time.

Demon of the Fall
11.10.19 | Definitely a feel good factor back at the Bridge, I thought Sarri did a decent job but the fans didn’t really take to him. It makes sense to go down this road, we’ve had the best youth team in England for ages and they also generally do very well in Europe. It’s about time we used them. |
DoofDoof
11.10.19 | Chelsea are outgunned financially now in so much as there are a couple of teams ahead and a whole load competing for the same players, might as well have a youthful team to get behind with a few promising English players in the first 11 |
Demon of the Fall
11.10.19 | Yeah, we will still spend, but I’d rather go for a couple of big purchases and supplement that with youth, than sign the Danny Drinkwaters of this world... damn what an awful decision that was. Having a manager that’s patient with youth is part of that.

11.20.19 | 'Jose to Spurs has got me feeling a VERY wide range of emotions as an Arsenal fan'
eh, try being a Chelsea fan? Confusing af. On one hand I still love the guy, but I also dislike the fact he went to Utd and now Spurs, I mean c'mon Jose, all that unconditional 'love' you pretended to have for us feels a little meaningless now. I guess that's business for you.
From a footballing perspective, this will give Spurs some impetus in the short term, but may hamper them long term, which is what you get with Jose. Combustion on the horizon at some point, probably after numerous disagreements with Levy about the meager transfer budget, or whatever... if Poch was unhappy then you have no chance with Mou.
Unfortunately (being pragmatic for a minute, like Jose)... Spurs will be better this season and maybe next as well, they needed to freshen it up, as great a manager as Poch was this relationship had run its course and the players looked like they were at rock bottom confidence-wise. He will motivate them, set them up to defend/counter in the traditional Mou way, which honestly suits them rather well. He has plenty of fast and physical players at his disposal and guys who can be lethal in front of goal without needing a ton of chances/possession. This will make Spurs hard to beat, especially in the big games - hopefully they stumble when they're required to take the initiative themselves and break down stubborn resistance (especially if Eriksen fails to regain his form, his mind looks elsewhere already). |

11.20.19 | See if Levy has kept a stash of cash for Mourinho in January - if he actually backs him significantly Levy might just have me believing |
Demon of the Fall
11.20.19 | The best players rarely move in Jan, the remainder tend to be grossly overpriced... it'll be interesting to see what happens because presumably he got some assurances from Levy. |

11.20.19 | Will be interesting who he rates in that squad. Time of reckoning for so many wasters - Dier? Alli? Aurier? So much dead wood now |

DoofDoof
11.20.19 | We just don't know.
Is my point.
He hasn't played well for closing on two years. That ain't good. With Dier it's over two years.
Everything is up for questioning now - the only players I'd imagine will play most every game (if they are committed to the cause) are Kane, Son and Ndombele. The rest can't take anything for granted. |

Jose should be in his 3rd season by then and I wouldnt bet on them not challenging by then. Hes taking over a much better team than the mancs. Still needs to be seen if hes just a fucking dinosaur now or still got it ans he did but a lot of shite at Utd too. Think its a great move from Spurs if they were set on getting rid of poch anyway. |

I dont agree with decision to get rid of him and the snide way it was done its fucking discracefull but joses worth a gamble right now if theyd decided to do it. Footballs a fickle game the mancs hated him too...until he won them things...then they loved him..until they didnt again. I hate the cunt personally wouldn't want him anywhere near my club but Id put money on him getting spurs into a VERY good position for when Klopp and pep get off if they can plan ahead for it. Surely hes heen given insurance with transfer funds otherwise he wouldnt come in its not how he works

This says it all - heart was preferable to what came before (Sherwood, AVB) but we've done Redknapp and Poch...lots of heart, nice football, a lot of smiles
We're STILL seen as a soft touch joke club, the trophy cabinet is STILL empty.
Time to become the club everyone hates playing. If that means we are bored watching them a lot of the time so be it. The last two months have been rock bottom dreadful entertainment wise anyway - we haven't played steady 'good football' for nearly two years under Poch, the gung ho CL matches papered over the cracks. I want to feel the club is led by someone whose only currency is silverware now - I want to see us win something, Jose gamesmanship and negative football if we must, but tbh the bloke has presided over some great footballing sides (Chelsea, Madrid).
I'm fucking middle aged, I don't want to hear about 6 year + slow build projects, there are so few dynasties in football these days, we've had the moral high ground that we are a 'lovely lovely club' and 'spend not a lot and are so fair see' - everyone still laughs at Spurs, everyone still delivers the team talk 'lads, it's Tottenham'. Doubt they will with Jose scowling in the dugout. |
DoofDoof
11.21.19 | Have to say really enjoyed watching Jose as a pundit this year, think the chap is still one of the only managers in the game who has claim to the title of 'genius' - whether he's 'yesterday's genius' is up for debate.
Bloke is articulate, been watching a few documentaries on him, highly intelligent fella.
Poch, bless him, hadn't a lot to say off the field. Jose won't stop talking...for better or worse. Yeah there'll be weeks the press conference or after game interview will be more entertaining than the football dished up but whatever, should be intriguing shit however you cut it. Proper manager, highest profile one for decades at the club. |

Demon of the Fall
11.21.19 | The guy's a bit of a wanker, his insistence that he's never done anything wrong and nothing is his fault is admittedly grating after a while. He will eventually throw everyone else under the bus he parked because he's a terrible loser. The thing is when he's winning games and everything is going well he seems likeable, charismatic etc. and no-one could ever say he isn't articulate/intelligent.
At the end of the day results are everything, I loved Mou at Chelsea, until I didn't. You will overlook anything he says/does if you're successful. Just be prepared for a short-term project... but like Doof says I guess if he wins something that's all that matters for a club that's struggled to break through that seemingly insurmountable barrier. |
DoofDoof
11.21.19 | Sint - if any appointment can change that perception and mentality within the club it’s this one.
Might not work but it’s the right call.
Fat Frank will take him seriously have no doubt |
DoofDoof
11.21.19 | demon - don’t care if he’s likeable as long as results are good overall
Just in: I haven’t liked Poch much since he bottled the CL final before a ball was kicked, started freezing out players, serving up shite football and being a sulky cunt in interview

rockandmetaljunkie
11.22.19 | But then again there are many in the football community who believe Jose is kinda outdated in this year and age. What do you guys think? |

Demon of the Fall
11.22.19 | 'we'll just have to wait and see, Mourinho has been successful in the past with teams that had many years to win trophies.'
I'm well aware of that, like I said before he will probably be successful in the short term, whatever that means relative to Spurs... I guess ANY trophy and top 4 would constitute success over the next couple of years. He's not built for longevity, so WHEN it all inevitably comes crashing down, then it'll be interesting to see if he's still playing the nice humble guy who admits to making mistakes.
Tactically he has fallen behind a little imo, but this team are much better suited to his style than Utd were, so I expect the same competitive big game mentality when up against the top teams. Beating them with sucker punches where possible. Where he has fallen away is vs the lesser teams, I just don't see him consistently getting results against stubborn rear guards, that's where the game has left him behind slightly. Therefore I definitely can't see Spurs competing for the league, especially not in the current climate, but in cups they will likely do well.
Also, his old school approach to player management sometimes falls on deaf ears now, fragile millennial footballers need a cuddle not a rollicking I guess, lol. |
Demon of the Fall
11.22.19 | This will be the least amount of money he's ever had to spend comparative to his domestic rivals as well, which could be interesting. |

bournemouth stuck in a relegation battle, brighton have improved somewhat and their attacking play in general has been great, it's finishing that's been letting them down - good run of form and i think they'll start moving up the table, arsenal collapsing even more, man u below us.
