World Cup Game Changers (last 16)

My musical taste is the Jules Rimet and these bands have made it past the group stages.
16Hundred Reasons
Ideas above our station

Complete surprise package. This is their first and only World Cup, but what an
outstanding team. 'Falter' was our song, for an ex, many ex's ago.
15Reef
Replenish

Surprised they made it out the group stages? Yes, they are too. Happy to be here,
but look more like surfer's than football players

This team are better than your team. Always an exciting team to watch, especially
the interview in the tunnel after the game.
13At the drive in
Relationship of command

All the pieces are there to make a great team. Unfortunately they try too hard to
show off, rather than playing to win.
12The Offspring
Smash

Hyperactive kids want to show the world what they are made of. Lots off pace, not
much skill.
11Knapsack
Day three of my new life

They don't look or act like athletes, but they've made it this far on pure emotion.
10 Tool
Ænima

Tool survived the group of death to get here. So many bands do what they do, but
the vocals are too divine, the video's are too disturbing not to make it this far.
9 Public Enemy
Apocalypse 91... The enemy strikes black

The only African nations team left in the competition. I used to love hip hop as a
child. The coach's decision to bring on Anthrax at the last minute is the reason
they are still in the tournament.
8Converge
Jane Doe

Just made the top eight by slaying the competition. They have the attitude and the
talent to go a long way.
7Sublime
Sublime

The cool kids. Every possession is effortless. It's like they don't try hard enough,
but still do well at every tournament.
6Slipknot
Slipknot

This squad is deep. They intimidate the opposition. They thrash good teams on a
regular basis. I've been trying to see California, but unfortunately I do not posses
Marlon Brando's eyes.
5Mastodon
Leviathan

Always a solid performer, but never quite able to take the next step into the semi's.
Every member of the team is a star in their own right and they work well together,
but struggle on the big stage.
4Minus the bear
menos el oso

The beautiful passing game of Spain is a joy to watch at times. The technique is
outstanding on this album. Pachuca Sunrise gets me everytime.
3Pantera
Far Beyond Driven

The bad boys of the tournament, have managed to get this far using aggression
and the flair of their superstar Dimebag Darrell (RIP). They have picked up the most
red and yellow cards of the tournament and other teams have complained about
the trash-talk. Most likely team to 'John Terry' your wife.
2Beatsteaks
Launched

Germany always makes the final (7 times, joint with Brazil). I stumbled stoned into a
tent at Reading festival and was blown away by this band's song writing and
energy.
1Soundgarden
Superunknown

Chris Cornell as Pele, Matt Cameron as Franz Beckenbauer, Kim Thayil as Diego
Maradona and Ben Shepherd as Johan Cruyff. This album arrived just at the right
time for me.
