03.08.13 Things And People That Make Me Want To 02.17.13 Top 15 Artists Or Bands That I Like

Top 15 Artists Or Bands That I Like

I was born in 1956.......so there!
1Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band
Darkness On The Edge Of Town

Hits all emotional hot buttons, consistency, writing, studio plus live shows.
2The Beatles
Revolver

We have heard it all before........
3Rolling Stones
Sticky Fingers

The period between 1968-1972 really has never been topped.......when they hit a groove it is pure heaven.
4Bob Dylan
Blonde On Blonde

Frustratingly inconsistent over the long haul, but the highs and influence cannot be overlooked.
5The Who
Live at Leeds

The first punks? "Live At Leeds" anybody?
6The Clash
London Calling

The "Beatles" of the late 70's punk movement.....too bad they could not keep it together.
7Led Zeppilin
Physical Graffiti

My favorite band growing up in the 70's.......lead me away from AM radio into more harder and bluesy territory.
8Elvis Presley
From Elvis In Memphis

I enjoy reading about and listening to his career go from innovator to bloated dead has been......."Trying to get to you".....one of the great vocals in the history of pop.
9Neil Young
Rust Never Sleeps

A vary spotty recording career....good Lord "Everybody's Rocking" for crying out loud! But when he's on it is always mesmerizing...."Powderfinger" is just one example.
10 Steely Dan
CountDown To Ectasy

Their wit and chops, not to mention their lyrics carried me through high school and beyond....I bought "Aja" the day my first daughter was born....and my wife's name is "Peg".
11 Elvis Costello
This Years Model

His first four albums changed the way I looked and listened to pop music.
12The Allman Brothers
Eat A Peach

"Mountain Jam"......first time I partook of the evil weed was to "Eat a Peach".......they were pure bliss when they hit on all cylinders.
13Mott the Hoople
Mott

Not much of a career, but they left their imprint on punk, especially The Clash......."Drivin Sister".........rock n roll, you know she's much to much on the clutch"
14 Jimi Hendrix
Electric Ladyland

Wish I could have seen the look on Clapton's face the first time he seen Jimi in one of those small venues in London 1967.
15Yes
Relayer

I have a deep love for Prog.......and these boys just barely beat out the Floyd and Tull. The "soon" section of "The Gates Of Delirium" off of "Relayer" is one of those moments that can bring a man to tears......just beautiful.
