Slightly Overrated Albums
Albums that I think are really good, but aren't quite the classics people say they are.
|1|| ||Dream Theater|
Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
Doesn't measure up to I&W, Awake, etc., especially lyrically; the story is a little too literal at times, and could use some better metaphors. Still quite enjoyable.
Album has great variety, but almost too much variety. Songs are great, just listening to it front to back is a little tedious.
A few songs drag on too long ("Wedding Nails"), and this is coming from a guy who loves long songs.
Unfortunately, I can't listen to "One Step Closer" anymore without thinking the "shut up" part is cheesy, instead of awesome. The band have done better since.
Viva La Vida
Started the art rock phase of the band, which I love, but the sound was more fleshed out on Mylo Xyloto, and a few parts get a bit boring ("Reign of Love").
VERY strongly disagree about 3, see where you're coming from with 1 but I can't say I totally feel you on that seein as it's one of my favorite DT releases- everything else, I agree with.
4 and 5 agreed. 1 and 3 definitely disagree.
Going to have to agree with this entire list.
Slightly, only slightly =P
Might as well add this one, since people appear to be fighting about it: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/48721/Rest-Rest/
everything on this lst sucks
you are stupid
I'm commenting again because 3 and 1 are so fucking good. Even though, as I already said, the lyrics for 1 aren't the best.
agree with everything except 1 and 2
