TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Don't know any of these, I might check Chromatics and Swervedriver. |
DoubtGin
04.14.12 | Raise consists of hard-rocking shoegaze songs (ye, they are heavy compared to their contemporaries)
not sure if you'd like Chromatics (it's pretty long and the last song is bad), it's not that similar but you would probably dig it if you liked last year's M83
that Swans album really got me hard though
about to check out that Evergrey and Triptykon album, they sound interesting |
RunOfTheMill
04.14.12 | Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Opeth - Watershed
Raven - Wiped Out
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon ;)
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the Oath
Mayhem - Live in Leipzig
Iron Maiden - En Vivo
Faust - Faust
Dream Theater - Awake
Bang - Bang
Agalloch - The Mantle
I haven't figured out what I'm giving even half of these yet :P |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Will check that Swans album.
Yeah those are interesting albums indeed. If you loved Celtic Frost's Monotheist you can't go wrong with Triptykon.
Evergrey's In Search Of Truth is definitely one of their best albums and I really enjoy Englund's passionate performance. Cool power/prog. |
JamieTwort
04.14.12 | Nice! Good to see 14 on here, you should check out (Mankind) The Crafty Ape next.
One of my most interesting new jams this week was Mangoo - Neverland. Really good stoner rock album. I also listened to a bit of 13 but I haven't heard the whole album yet.
I guess I should check out 1 at some point. |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Some great jams there RunOfTheMill, specially those Opeth gems, Raven, Fate, Dream Theater and of course the best album ever made: The Dark Side of the Moon. Don't hesitate, The Dark Side deserves a 25/5.
Still need to check En Vivo. Good stuff? |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Yeah JT, Jethro rec me I, Vigilante last week. Enjoyable album indeed. Will check their last one asap.
Your Mangoo - Neverland is noted. I might check it next week.
Don't miss Atoma, I believe you will love it. Check also Toxic Holocaust, the album has that old school thrash vibe I know you love. |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | If you guys wish check Atoma's Hole in the Sky

At the moment my favourite song. |
JamieTwort
04.14.12 | Listening to that song now and liking it a lot. |
greg84
04.14.12 | 1 is a debut only by name. These guys played in a great doom metal act, Slumber. |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Yeah I need to check that Slumber album but I believe this is a different creature. |
DominionMM1
04.14.12 | good list but...asia? |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Yeah I rechecked that this week.
Let's say we can find way better prog in the 80's. Heat of the Moment is cool though.
|
KILL
04.14.12 | lol asia m/ |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Kill check Conjure and Command and Fire & Damnation, you will dig.
Atoma is great but it's not your kind of stuff I guess.

jefflebowski
04.14.12 | Swervedriver are awesome, though i prefer mezcal head to raise |
KjSwantko
04.14.12 | I'm gonna check out Mutter. And hell yeah for Evergrey m/, make sure you check out all those earlier albums of there's too bro |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | I know Solitude Dominance Tragedy. Solitude Within remains my favourite Evergrey track, however I think this one is more solid.
Mutter is one of their best albums, you will dig it for sure. Don't miss also Sehnsucht. |
KjSwantko
04.14.12 | Oh yeah this Album is far superior as a whole, but make sure to listen to Recreation Day and The Inner Circle.
Will do m/ |
RunOfTheMill
04.14.12 | @Notrap all the way up there :P
Yeah man, it was a good week for music for me :) I need to listen to Dark Side of the Moon again, though. I was working on something else when I listened to it, so I don't remember much :( I think I'll do like you said, loud and at night! I think I might check out 1 and what can you tell me about 14?
And En Vivo is really cool, nothing too special, but it has extremely good quality sound, and it's very exciting. I've listened to it a lot recently |
TheNotrap
04.14.12 | Trough the night and loud is definitely the best way to enjoy The Dark Side of the Moon.
Well, I, Vigilante is a retro-prog rock album. The music is good, specially Troublemaker and We Forgotten Who We Are (Burning Bridges is completely dispensable), but in my humble opinion most of these retro-prog bands need an additional modern layer to their music.
Don't miss Atoma's Skylight. One of the most promising bands out there. Album's really good. |
