| The 5's | 1 | | AFI Crash Love
Though often hated this is easily my favorite AFI album, and for good
reason; it's the first entire album I heard from the group. Though I worked
my way back through their discog nothing brings the memories and smiles
like this one does, I can pretty much sing along line for line. Yeah the cover
art might such a bit, and Davey has lost his makeup (R.I.P.), but this is still
AFI. | 2 | | Amia Venera Landscape The Long Procession
Remember when this took the website by storm? Happened to be when I
was going through some personal issues; this is the soundtrack to an
entire month of getting up at 5am to walk in the 20 degree weather to
donate plasma, only to return to a seemingly empty room filled with
introspection. Walking music, memories, great times. | 3 | | Assemblage 23 Meta
I dislike a lot of Assemblage just because it's played at the club here so
often, but this album is the exception. Tracks like "Sorry" feel like they were
written in regards to my past, while "Madman's Dream" is entirely too
relevant to working low wage jobs you hate. A summer of riding my bike to
a workplace I despised, this album is that soundtrack. | 4 | | Equilibrium Sagas
It only took one listen to make this a classic, and man is this great to throw
on when you need to study for college exams. One of my favorite folk/metal
albums, it makes me smile. | 5 | | Panic Lift Witness To Our Collapse
Though I still can't put to paper a review of this album, Panic Lift helped
shape my tastes in industrial when I first started DJ'ing. Great for roadtrips,
this album remains unique in both its cover art deception and lyrical poignancy. I'd love for more albums to sound like this. | 6 | | Phutureprimitive Kinetik
A god-damn dub/dubstep shockwave. Makes me want to watch Ghost In
The Shell, upgrade to Linux, learn to crack ICE ala Neauromancer... this is
just filled with emotional attachment. Though I normally don't like
downtempo this album keeps coming back, it's one of the quickest 5's I've
handed out. Plan on reviewing it, once I know how to describe it. Also this
guy is touring with Sphongle, next month might go see them. | 7 | | Soundtrack Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
Before I listened to industrial, and man does that seem like a long time ago,
an old girlfriend of mine bought me this on a whim. I didn't enjoy much of it
then, but in the coming years I began to realize how awesome of a tracklist
they put together. Many memories tied up in this album, and many more to
come. Also has one of the BEST Combichrist remixes around, bar none. | 8 | | The Birthday Massacre Walking With Strangers
First heard this on VF, just beginning my college career. Bought it, and
many years later still love it. Helped through my last breakup, you know the
one that is always long and drawn out because you're both young and
naive? Yeah, this was a good release during that. | 9 | | The Cure Disintegration
Other than being a classic? This was my go-to jam in the homeless shelter,
would write in my journal and read to this. Though it paints a sad
landscape I was hopeful, because I knew I'd be going to college soon and
there I'd hopefully find people like me. Didn't happen, but was nice to get
out of the shelter all the same. | 10 | | The Presets Apocalypso
The first album was great, but the flow was lacking. This picks up those
shackles and shatters them, the band shines here. From playing this in the
club to driving to it this album doesn't get old, makes me smile, and has
some of the most upbeat moments in recent memory; I love this band. | 11 | | The Prodigy The Fat of the Land
Another classic by most people's standards. Really started my branching
out from straight industrial, and a blast to drink to. | 12 | | Wumpscut Blutkind
From the dancy to the more minimal this album/anthology is something I
can count on to have what I need. The B sides can drag on if you're not in
the mood for them, luckily I normally am. | |

04.08.12 | 12, more than I expected. | Trebor.
04.08.12 | I hate 1 a lot | Acanthus
04.08.12 | I'm holding off on re-rating AFI's work, because otherwise this list would have a drastic increase in 5's.
I didn't grow up with AFI, no nostalgia for any of their work. | SpiritCrusher2
04.08.12 | 2 and 11 fuck yeah | bloc
04.08.12 | Now this is what I like to see: a whole bunch of unique albums I'd never expect. But of course I'd know it be like that just because it's Cant's list ;)
Interesting choices of 3 and 5. 10's weird as hell haha and 8 is just mandatory! | auberginedreams
04.08.12 | ughh 1 is so bad. | Metalstyles
04.08.12 | ditto to what bloc said :) | Acanthus
04.08.12 | @bloc - 8 IS mandatory, first heard TBM albums are always 5's no?
@Metalstyles - thanks sir, I don't get around to rating everything I have/love but it's fun breaking out of the 54% industrial shell.
@auberg - I can understand but disagree completely. | TheArkitecht
04.09.12 | Listen to 6 atm, holy shit this is fucking awesome. | Acanthus
04.09.12 | Isn't it? Dev said it was "just ok" but damn it's good. The previous is more dub and more laid back,
but still good too. | bloc
04.09.12 | Dev is dum | TheArkitecht
04.09.12 | It's exactly the kind of stuff I'm into atm, I'm really digging this! | Acanthus
04.09.12 | I'd imagine that he's heard so many artists that being critical is second nature by now, I've not gotten into his preferred dubstep sound before this so it's new(er) to me. | Acanthus
04.09.12 | I can see where you're coming from, but I really don't know what more I would want from it atm | TheFonz123
04.09.12 | i demand a feature! | Acanthus
04.09.12 | Pshh please, only had 1 list featured ever and even that was a mistake. This isn't feature worthy, just fun to read. | auberginedreams
04.09.12 | i'm surprised that the downward spiral isn't on here. isn't that supposed to be like the holy grail of industrial music or something? | Acanthus
04.09.12 | I hate it for personal reasons, but Reznor isn't a huge influence when it comes to my industrial
taste; I like his early EP's more than his albums.
Edit: If you look at my ratings you can tell that I am really critical of the mans work. | pizzamachine
04.09.12 | Whoah 6 is just the kind of thing I like! :O Actually most of this list is haha. | MalleusMaleficarum
04.09.12 | afi is on this list, therefore it is good.
| MalleusMaleficarum
04.09.12 | http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=426410 | GreyShadow
04.09.12 | i respect you for 1. 2 is awesome as well | Acanthus
04.09.12 | Thanks everyone!
@Malleus - I saw your list sir, and though my ranking differs I confess to having a door sized AFI wall banner as well as a poster, CD's, and shirts. Oh, and pins. | Acanthus
04.09.12 | @Grey - I already knew it'd be a touchy 5 for many, but I love it so. | Deviant.
04.09.12 | 6 really is pretty average | SCREAMorphine
04.09.12 | 9 is great | HBFS
04.09.12 | i love 10, such a fun album | Parallels
04.09.12 | Very interesting list. I can see the concept behind 1 too. | Acanthus
04.09.12 | @Dev - any specific band recs (non-Devstep list links) that have the same computer produced but rather organic vibe? |
