03.28.12 | all of them are biased
I really only read politico and bbc anymore, but you're never really going to escape bias in the news |

03.28.12 | yea bbc is awesome |

03.28.12 | this study has its flaws (also: it's from 2004) but it's one of the more interesting / conclusive on the subject:
http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/polisci/faculty/groseclose/Media.Bias.8.htm
long story short: it measured bias of 20 of the most prominent media outlets and found that 18 of them reported the news in a way that was left of the average american voter |

03.28.12 | dude I'm no flaming conservative, but current is liberal as fuck |

03.28.12 | Most TV/cable news are biased left, and then fox is biased way right. So gg @ trying to get your views off the TV, need to do research elsewhere if you want to have a clue. |

03.28.12 | Well obamacare is a nightmare and should never be passed, idc if you're for or against obama
otherwise. "We're not going to government subsidize but we expect everyone to get it" ok.. you're
going to have to do so or incarcerate a whole bunch of unemployed people who won't be able to afford
it. But we already have jail overcrowding and the police already wastes its time on enough pointless
bs (e.g. chasing drugs) so GL with that.
This leaves you 2 options:
1) put the country in a much deeper debt hole than it already is
or
2) overcrowd jails even more/waste police's time
Sounds great. |

03.28.12 | "since he bitches about obama as much as he praises him"
yes, but when TYT get mad at Obama, it's about not being liberal enough.
Hence them being outrageously biased. I do however, enjoy watching them because they don't lie about it like Fox does. At least say that you're a liberal network. Current is owned by Gore ffs, can't really deny them being liberal.
Not saying it's a bad thing, but let's be serious here. |

03.28.12 | "obamacare is a nightmare"
Kind of an empty complaint considering it's nothing right now. |

03.28.12 | James Murdoch called the BBC a sinister organization. I don't know what to believe. |

03.28.12 | Lol James Murdoch. That's like the Daily Mail calling the Guardian out for being an inaccurate newspaper. |

03.28.12 | Being from the UK myself, I'd say the BBC is by far the best news source. The only problem is, it is a bit too liberal. It tries very hard to please everyone so it is never critical. Perhaps thats the point of news organisations though? To report the news rather than form an opinion on it?
|
ConsiderPhlebas
03.28.12 | Indeed, Knott. Pretty sure the Mail does that, amusingly enough. |
Knott-
03.28.12 | I actually prefer watching ITV News to BBC News broadcast-wise, because ITV are allowed to editorialise slightly and thus their news broadcasts have some teeth. But if I want to know what's actually going on, it's the BBC every time. |
ConsiderPhlebas
03.28.12 | A truly liberal agenda is always based around a critical attitude - but critical doesn't mean taking a side. I don't think the BBC news service tries to please everyone, how could they? |

03.28.12 | the fuck i did a report in high school about how the news stations were biased and my teacher gave me a d- and said it was a story no one would believe and that i needed proof |
Knott-
03.28.12 | The BBC is required to be factual in what it says, but it still has to prioritise stories and viewpoints - and that does leave it open to accusations of bias. That bias is at first glance less dangerous than most news outlets' but its umbrella of impartiality lends it a credibility that puts it in an unusual situation of responsibility. I don't see the bias many talk about, though - not a huge one, anyway. |
