| Ranking The Color Spectrum
Got this pretty late after avoiding the hype train all of last year. It's got
some really great material though overall I have to say I prefer Act II.
It's difficult to compare this to the rest of their work though, to be fair.
The massive amount of material really only allows for fair comparisons
within the Color Spectrum. | | 9 | | The Dear Hunter Blue EP
It's pretty and soothing and all those "blue" things, but not enough so to be
exciting or profoundly moving. | | 8 | | The Dear Hunter Green EP
This is the only EP where I felt the color was too heavily reference. I get it, plant
life is often green, the constant lyrical references came off as slightly cheesy to
me. I had to find a complaint though because it's mostly solid, just inoffensive. | | 7 | | The Dear Hunter Orange EP
The EP with the ironically classic blues rock sound. Jamz hard for sure but while
it's completely solid in quality, none of it really jumps out and grabs me as a
highlight. | | 6 | | The Dear Hunter Red EP
Deny it All kicks goddamn ass. | | 5 | | The Dear Hunter Yellow EP
On first listen, I found the yellow EP to be almost comically jovial. But further
listens revealed it to be the most infectious EP of the bunch. It definitely
captures the brightness of the color without blatant references to the sun, or
piss. | | 4 | | The Dear Hunter Indigo EP
Your Who does Casey think he is, Will Bevan? | | 3 | | The Dear Hunter Black EP
If "Take More Than You Ned" wasn't so awkward, this could possibly be higher.
It's not necessarily a bad song, but the other three are easily among my top 10
favorites of the entire collection. | | 2 | | The Dear Hunter White EP
A fitting culmination to the concept as a summary of the entire project. The
choruses soar more than ever yet the band manages to stay relatively subdued
in their electronic wonderland. As grandiose as the Mona Lisa's rack. | | 1 | | The Dear Hunter Violet EP
Okay maybe this is the most infectious of the EPs. It's 16 minutes of cacophonic
bombast and saccharine vocal harmonies. Mr. Mallum and Lilliam...nguhh. | |

No hard feelings tho. I feel like Violet and White are deserving | Yazz_Flute
03.16.12 | Blue and Green just don't grab me right now, they'll probably grow on me when I get more familiar with them. Which one would you say is the weakest EP though? They're all pretty solid. | Yazz_Flute
03.16.12 | Also Orange should be higher than 7... | Funeralopolis
