03.15.12 | re-elected AGAIN? |
ThroneOfAgony
03.15.12 | As of now I can hardly see Obama being re-elected this coming year |
Evreaia
03.15.12 | I'm not American (and i'm actualy pretty right-orientated too). But I can't honestly see how any one could vote for any of the monkeys of the republicans lol.
So yeah, vote for Obama. The guy actually did something. |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | Yeah right. Who blew 150 million on a green, environmental company that went under days later. At least he got some good photos (cost us all 150 mil though). Let alone the war in Iraq isn't over (people are still dying). And Republicans respect women, it's just a stereotype Liberals use to judge all Conservatives. |
MO
03.15.12 | sorry what the shit does 4 even mean? |
Aids
03.15.12 | obama is obviously going to win, the republican candidates are all terrible. I mean, they usually are (actually I kind of like McCain) but especially this time around. |
Maniac!
03.15.12 | Basically, conservatives (usually) are only against big government when it isn't forcing THEIR morals on everyone else.
Then it's ok, because "we have a culture war going on" |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | First of all, we got in this war (that we are currently in) for a pretty legit reason. People join the military to fight and protect our country, not for free money. They know the risks of joining and do it (better than people begging for money on wall street). And we aren't all racists either. I live in Georgia, have many black friends, and am the least racist person on earth. I respect women as equals as well (there are woman republicans as well). |
Maniac!
03.15.12 | "First of all, we got in this war (that we are currently in) for a pretty legit reason. "
which war?
what was the "legit" reason? |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | And the candidates are pretty weak this year. I'm all for Santorum, but Romney's gonna get the nom. (which isn't what most of us want anyways). |
Maniac!
03.15.12 | Also I'm more in line with social libertarianism than anything, but all positions have their flaws.
But open-mindedness won't happen in this country anytime soon. |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | Against Terrorism (It's no official war, but the Korean War wasn't either). And remember a little incident called 9/11. A decently legit reason. |

TheZehan
03.15.12 | Both... I think? We have soldiers based in both because there are terrorists in both countries. We are not at war against either country, but against the radical groups inhabited in the country. |

TheZehan
03.15.12 | I don't go around telling gays they are wrong or anything, but I don't have to like their lifestyle. Look up the 1st amendment. And 9/11 was pretty tragic. You just want to let people get away with trying to break down your country? (assuming your american) |

Bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda is pretty much non-existent. Bring all of out troops home and reduce our overseas presence by at least 3% |
MO
03.15.12 | "And 9/11 was pretty tragic."
you know it sucks cause yea 3000 people died, but man there are so many worse things that happen on a daily basis |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | Great, Bin Laden's dead. Ever heard of Martyrs? And I'm fine with America not policing with world, but we need to make sure we finish our job first. And no one can complain about troops dying overseas. That is what they get paid money to do. If I join the military, I'll have no problem going and fighting/dying for my country. That would be my job description anyway. |

TheZehan
03.15.12 | I'm perfectly fine with American minding it's own business. We should...but we can't let obvious attacks on our country go unanswered. I gotta go to class, so I'll be back later. |

I don't want to hear(read) your bullshit. I'm getting ready to join the Navy. I know what military service is, as my Dad served 20 years, as well as many other family members. 1. He doesn't look like a Christian, so the Islamic fundamentalists would either accept him, or they'd be afraid of him.

And I'd like to tell you a few things: "The Democratic incumbent has surrounded himself with conservative advisors and key figures — many from previous administrations, and an unprecedented number from the Trilateral Commission. He also appointed a former Monsanto executive as Senior Advisor to the FDA. He has extended Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, presided over a spiralling rich-poor gap and sacrificed further American jobs with recent free trade deals.Trade union rights have also eroded under his watch. He has expanded Bush defence spending, droned civilians, failed to close Guantanamo, supported the NDAA which effectively legalises martial law, allowed drilling and adopted a soft-touch position towards the banks that is to the right of European Conservative leaders. We list these because many of Obama’s detractors absurdly portray him as either a radical liberal or a socialist, while his apologists, equally absurdly, continue to view him as a well-intentioned progressive, tragically thwarted by overwhelming pressures."

I love the fact that people post blanket statements that someone else made like they are fact. Not to mention that even if every one of these things are accurate as stated (I think they actually are for the most part) it's never as simple as the little blurb implies. For example "appointed a former Monsanto executive as Senior Advisor to the FDA" do you even stop to think about the words you are posting? everyone not fresh out of school had to work somewhere... and he's Senior fucking Advisor... who gives a shit. |

TheZehan
03.15.12 | America is already known as the World's Police force (which isn't a good thing). America wouldn't need to destroy two towers, kill thousands, and attack their own economy/pentagon for some oil (which is what all those theories support). |

ConsiderPhlebas
03.15.12 | I rarely admit it but the South Park ep is what changed my mind, although I've always suspected it's because the alternative is too depressing for words. I've heard people I trust say the theories have been addressed quite thoroughly. I don't believe any act of terrorism warrants the invasion of two countries, because the very act of declaring war essentially transforms the original attack into an act of war too, when it was really a terrible crime.
It's interesting that you mention the Titanic. There are some very engaging theories surrounding the vast impact of both incidents upon the world, been reading about it at uni. |
TheZehan

TheFonz123
03.15.12 | @thezehan YEs, christie is worlds better than all the republican candidates. But, I still hate his politics. About the supporting thing haha.
A. I dont support ron paul, becuase Id rather support Obama any day
B. I wont have the oppertunity to support anyone formally seeing as im 15 and will not be legally aloud to vote
C.I do in fact know what a libertarian( i think that's how its spelled) is and Im not one. in terms of policy im very concretely liberal, but I was trying to say that a candidate can be on one side of the spectrum but can also cater to different areas of the spectrum, I think Christie only caters to a certain group of people and other poeple would be pissed.
D. Conspiracy theories are kind of annoying to talk about becuase most likely they will never be proven true and so just influences uncertainty and generates mystery and non-objectivism which I dont like becuase Im a control freak |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | Oh, Thats cool, I thought I was the only 15 year old on here. I'm kinda the opposite though. I'm conservative as all get out. And Obama doesn't meet anyone's spectrums but his own followers either. Libertarians would meet the most people ideals (being a split between both sides). And your liberal, as you said, so of course you wouldn't like Christie just like I wouldn't like Obama. |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | And Maniac!, the singers voice kills the music for me still. The instrumentals are great, but I just can't get past the vocals. |
TheFonz123
03.15.12 | In my humble opinion, The invasion of iraq was one of the most pointless things the U.S. has ever done becuase
A. 9/11 was not iraq's nor any particular countries fault. it was alkeada which doesnt warrant invading one of the countries that organization was hiding in.
B. Supposedly, there was a dispute over oil which I dont think is why we invaded
C. we were trying to help them as a country with their internal disputes over religion but it quite frankly wasnt any of our buisness and we just fucked up the conflict even more by getting involved.
D. Even if the above reasons were valid, you enter a war becuase you want to win. But how were we going to WIN? there wasnt a clear thing we wanted and so using the most powerful military in the world to invade a poverty stricken country was kind of asinine
|
ConsiderPhlebas
03.15.12 | I meant theories surrounding their impact on the world, not conspiracy theories.
I know very little about Pearl Harbor, but the attack was carried out by pilots in uniform, acting
under orders, explicitly representing a country that intended, one can only assume, to start a war
between your country and theirs. It was a monstrous act of war. The maniacs that arranged the
attacks on the WTC were deranged criminals. |
Maniac!
03.15.12 | btw Zehan. Learn to read.
"Sorry, I'm assuming the one we are in currently (the one Sonic says Obama ended, which he hasn't). The war on Terrorism."

Which, he did. Now gtfo |
TheFonz123
03.15.12 | "And your liberal, as you said, so of course you wouldn't like Christie just like I wouldn't like Obama"
I suppose that negates the point of discussing politics at all haha. but consider this, Obama is also the opposite of christie. Obama is passive, respectful, and he gave in to the pressure from the republicans more than once. He had ideas, he just lacked the bravery to really execute them. I personally think he was a dissapointment becuase he did very little becuase he tried deal with political part tension civally but there is no place for that in american politics right now. He wasnt agressive about what he wanted so he got torn apart. Christie is brave, aggressive, and does what he thinks is right and doesnt give a fuck what others think. The difference is I feel he has no ideas behind all that swagger. I think they could learn from eachother becuase christie needs to learn how to formulate ideas and obama needs to be less of a pussy |
TheZehan
03.15.12 | I agree Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan shouldn't be our targets, but we can't just stand aside and let the terrorists abuse us. And the 9/11 attacks were a declaration of war from the Terrorists, not Iraq. I agree we shouldn't try to change the Iraqis beliefs, and that's coming from an avid Christian. That would be pointless and I don't agree with that, but the "war" (if I can call it that) is just in my opinion. |
Maniac!
03.16.12 | what the fuck are you talking about, zehan?
Iraq HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 |
TheFonz123
03.16.12 | @plebas yeah nvm I know someone who always talks about how "george bush planned and was behind 9/11" and constantly tries to shove that crap down everyone's throats which is what I thought you and others were doing. I should have probably read the posts before I spoke lol :) |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | Yeah, politics and religion never make good arguments. The only thing I have to say is I think Christie has ideas, but people think that doing little to nothing (as far as spending goes) is a show of cluelessness and not a deliberate plan. |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | I know Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. I agree with that. All I'm saying is that we invaded the middle east to attack the TERRORISTS not the IRAQIS or any other arab. |
Maniac!
03.16.12 | That's not what we ended up doing, though |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | That wasn't George Bush's intentions at all. He didn't say "Lets go into Iraq and terrorize Iraqis". He said "We will find those responsible". Which are the terrorists. |
Maniac!
03.16.12 | No... going to Iraq was (theoretically) meant to dethrone Saddam from his dictatorship and to "spread democracy".
the "terrorists" were in Afghanistan. |
TheFonz123
03.16.12 | yes to maniacs comments |

03.16.12 | I'm not voting, but I certainly wouldn't vote for GOP candidates due to them being homophobic, anti-women, anti-secular, religious zealots. |
ConsiderPhlebas
03.16.12 | Fonz, I didn't see your post, but no worries. I think Bush might have been behind tying his own shoelaces, that's about it.
Zehan - it's one thing to want the monsters who threaten civilian lives to be brought to justice, and something else to let that justify multiple wars (one on an emotion) where a lot of civilians lose their lives. I know as an American this affects you more than it ever will me, but loving your country doesn't have to mean believing in the actions of the hard-nosed bastards who claw their way to positions of political power. Thinking critically and reading is the best thing anyone can do for their country. |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | Ok, good point. I'm getting my wars mixed up. Saddam was massacring his own people. You know we found him in a gold palace surrounded by his starving people right? And we finished the Gulf War (Iraq War) when we killed Saddam and his sons. The threat is gone, we can leave there. Our job in Afghanistan isn't done yet so.... |
Maniac!
03.16.12 | "Our job in Afghanistan isn't done yet so...."
uh...
yes it is.
The mastermind behind our attack is dead and his supporters ran away in hiding with nothing left to attack us with. |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | I actually likes Bush as a pres. (here comes the hate). I'll admit he effed up Katrina, but he did a better economical job than Obama, and got us in the war against terrorism (which I've said multiple times that I agree with). |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | Well, to counter that point. Obama wanted us out of there BEFORE Osama was killed. |

Because he was already dying and out of action.

TheFonz123
03.16.12 | I also agree with phlebas. Its more accurate to call his actions as actions by the "bush Administration" becuase really he was a puppet president, he often did what he was told to do by his administration.
and look im an american, but im also an intellectual, and i beleive that America's history has been plagued by the act of making risky decisions as a result of having little experience as a world power. I get patriotism and all that, but our country has made narcissistic and bullying moves towards other countries to the point where most of the countries in the world dont support us. I dont blame them. Also questioning authority respectively helps them to be better as leaders. Josh D.
03.16.12 | I don't think you can call yourself an intellectual. |
TheZehan
03.16.12 | We didn't know where Osama was though, so there was the process of finding him. And Fox news isn't nearly as biased as MSNBC is either. (hear me out). Remember when Obama visited the governor of Arkansas? The governor welcomed him kindly and respectfully when Obama got all pissy about her book and what it says about him. MSNBC interviewed her and wanted an apology for being rude to the president and not showing respect. I don't recall MSNBC respecting Bush too much. That's pretty hypocritical. |
TheFonz123
03.16.12 | Obama had to basically pick up after the mess the bush administration cuased. Bush and his guys destroyed the economy and then drove away in a helocopter.
