It's amazing what being emotionally detached can do. Honestly, I am so relaxed and peaceful with turning away at things like kony, the economy, dating, and rising gas prices. Ignore it, or make a parody of it like I do and you'll be fine. |

Tyrannic
03.10.12 | there is an established human nature. using nature, though, is a weird word cause it doesn't really have a definition that sticks well. so if you wanna talk about the nature, you might as well talk about human's function. the only thing that makes humans unique (from other creatures) is their rationality (although we don't even know if that's true, considering dolphins and whatever), so it would make sense that rationality is part of that function (in so far as we currently know). also, if i'm not mistaken, i'm pretty sure babies (upon birth) have rationality, so to say that human nature is empty from the beginning is just false. |

TheFonz123
03.10.12 | im a very cerebral person and dont have a huge respect for emotion but I view these horrible situations as problems that need to be fixed. sort of like a math equation waiting to be solved. Viewing things that are wrong as an oppertunity to figur out the puzzle and fix it both helps me cope and gives me a sense of direction. A challenge to overcome which gives meaning to my life and life in general. Then again, that might only work for me. |
Tyrannic
03.10.12 | no, i'm not insane (if you're talking to me), but you might be.
sitting by and being an isolationist (which your previous post implied) is what directly allowed those camps to go on for as long as they did. i don't give a fuck what the soldiers thought, because they were obviously following orders. but just allowing evil to exist elsewhere and ignoring it because it's 'inconvenient" or you're lazy or whatever is just as dumb. |

03.10.12 | @Auschwitz Actually, I have seen more arrogant "free thinkers" than anything else, shoving whatever ideology they have down everyone's ass.
As to my point of view about this senseless thread? I am trying to do well in college so I can get a degree and contribute to the solution of problems I can fix (not changing the political system, I am way too pragmatist for that). If I am not part of the solution, I am part of the problem. |

03.11.12 | The only thing natural about humanity is the animal reality we lose at the precise moment we're brought into the world of language and culture. Everything after that point, from the most extreme ethical abuses, to the most minor instance of common sense, is ideological fantasy. |
ncguitar
03.11.12 | Meh, politics is just a void cycle. Problems in humanity have always been the same basis, in a
different variation: An individual/oligarchy that controls the common fellow through a certain type of
slavery (military, economical, ideological, etc). Pragmatism ftw. |
ncguitar
03.11.12 | Nowadays we are controlled by an ideology called "human rights". Watch politics make $$$ out of concepts like "democracy" and justice. Wolves dressed as sheep. |
TheFonz123
03.11.12 | @considerplebas people dont often acknowledge that but its true. The good thing is, that indicates that things we consider "ideological fantasy" now might be possible. Becuase most of what we've accomplished as a society was once considered inane fantasy like flying. that's a really optimistic way of looking at it. |

03.11.12 | Dude, I wouldn't even know where to begin. The gross misreading of human history is probably the worst part, but every single part of it is romanticized tosh. He takes disparate ideas and jams them under the umbrella of empathy, as if it's some innate reality of our lives. Certainly empathy plays a role in human identity and social formation, but it's neither the defining feature nor the potential savior of the species. I could point you to a lot more reasoned, intelligent and worthwhile stuff, that isn't put forward by an 'ethical prophet'. Urgh. |

03.11.12 | The defining feature of human identity is misrecognition, a permanent and radical separation from the
Real through our interpolation into the symbolic order of language and culture. The realities that we
create, argue and war over are all completely invaded by, and born of, ideology. They all mask the
fundamental loss of our true animal existence. I'll find some videos and shoutbox you. |
