Funeralopolis
03.03.12 | here's some great lesser known roms:
demon's crest (snes)- like a mix between metroid and megaman.
Plok!(snes)- really fun but hard side scroller
Pokemon Pinball- rules
breath of fire- great rpg often overshadowed
Mac And Joe (snes)- side scroller
I played some sort of pretty good completly unknown rpg a while back on the gameboy original and I can't remember it's damn name lol... it was one of the weirdest games I had ever played everything was made of food including monsters. |
VlacDrac

Bloodhail

Uranium
03.04.12 | The Breath of fire is series is amazing, particularly number three for the ps, which is phenomenal. Great cast and story. |
tsundereSCIENCE
03.04.12 | im playing through 2 right now (well, the PSN version). I'm only like an hour in but I'm excited to continue
any other jrpgs you could rec me? I've only ever beaten FFVII and Chrono Trigger. I really want to play ToS too |
Funeralopolis
03.04.12 | secret of mana might be my favourite rpg ever |
tommygun
03.04.12 | Secret of Mana is just incredible. Check out Super Mario RPG for the SNES it rules |
LifeAsAChipmunk
03.04.12 | Listen to TommyGun, game is awesome. I also played Earthbound and Chrono Trigger (oh duh), if you're talking about RPGs. |
LifeAsAChipmunk
03.04.12 | @Xeno, Coolrom has a good amount, Zophar's Domain but it's very limited. I think romhacking has a bunch too. Snes and GBA emulators are very easy to set up. |
Trebor.
03.04.12 | Fire Emblem bro |
LifeAsAChipmunk
03.04.12 | I can't believe I forgot those, lol. |
Bloodhail
03.04.12 | I really wish there were more traditional jrpgs out there for recent consoles but it seems everyone wants to take the elder scrolls formula. I'd take an emotionally charged narrative with loveable characters any day over Todd Howard's SEE THAT MOUNTAIN??!?! YOU CAN CLIMB IT LOL
|
Funeralopolis
03.04.12 | @xenophanes: you need both roms and emulators.
Emulator is like a program that acts as a game system on your computer. You can download them from various sites, just google like: 'super nintendo emulator'.
Then use coolrom and you can download roms off it, once you download and unzip the rom files open up your emulator. Go to file press open and select your rom. Have fun! |
Katechon
03.04.12 | You should try Seiken Densetsu 3 if you dig Secret of Mana. It's pretty much the sequel to SoM but it never got released overseas, thought there's a translation patch out there. |
Bloodhail
03.04.12 | I'll definately have to check that out. Love SoM so damn much. |
ApplicationToHeaven
03.04.12 | do you need usb controllers or anything to play them? |
Bloodhail
03.04.12 | No, you can just use the keyboard and it doesn't make too mug difference when it comes to nes/snes/gba games |
SCREAMorphine
03.04.12 | The early Suikoden series (I & II) are the best RPG of all time , the story for the second one is amazing. I've completed that game more times then I can remember |
Funeralopolis
03.04.12 | @bloodhail: this is not true you can use controllers on roms I use my ps3 controller. |
Bloodhail
03.05.12 | not really a rom but I just snagged the DnD Anthology collection off of Gamersgate foe like 7 bucks. Legendary RPGs in here: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale I & II, The Temple of Elemental Evil, and last but not least Planescape Torment.
I should be held over for like a year now haha. |
