Benjomatico: Bad Production Leads To Ear Cancer

bloc 02.23.12	I used to think the same about 4 actually, almost for all of their albums too. But it's something I kinda got used to, especially considering Abe is one of the best in the business.

jefflebowski 02.23.12	production and mastering are two different things though. however, 3's production is fucking irritating and Dave Fridmann is a rubbish producer. Also, most of the deftones albums are overcompressed to the max

sniper 02.23.12	yeah. you should just learn to appreciate the music despite the production if music is legitimately produced poorly. but that isn't even the case with public strain. music like that plays off the haziness of the production, you aren't supposed to be able to hear everything that's going on.

Benjomatico 02.24.12	I appreciate music on many different levels, production is just ONE aspect. Read the description, it tells you that I really enjoy all of those albums. It's just that the production doesn't add anything to the music, IMO. Some of the best recorded albums for my taste are what you consider "lo-fi". Listen to "Odessey and Oracle" or "Roman Candle", brilliant! And with the risk of sounding snobbish, I just don't get the "legitimately produced poorly" thing. I am pretty sure I am far away of having a "shallow" taste, my friend

Benjomatico 02.24.12	I could see that, sorry if I offended you. 5 has a very interesting touch to it and I can definitley see people digging the production, it's not like something is done sloppy or badly on here. But I just dont get some of those aspects, like the vocals being all muddy in the background, loaded with reverb. Maybe I will in time when I listen to it more often, i really like the music on it . I tried "bergtatt" for raw blackmetal but I'm not getting anything of it.
