| This Is Huh, Wow
Albums that blew my mind on first listen | | 1 | | The Speed of Sound In Seawater Red Version
Despite the fact it's only been less than a year since I discovered TSOSIS Red Version has easily become one of my all time favorite albums. | | 2 | | Happy Particles Under Sleeping Waves
A few weeks ago I was searching for some new slowcore and I came across this little gem from 2011; minimalistic and beautiful, this album is a great combination of slowcore and dream pop. | | 3 | | Sen Deni No More
One of my favorite screamo albums, these guys write some really epic stuff with post-rock influences. My favorite thing about the album in particular is the guitar interplay; these guys really know how to work off each other, rarely playing the same thing at once but with one guitar always supplementing the other into absolutely greatness. Seriously their chemistry is amazing. | | 4 | | The Hope and the Failure The Lights Are On But This Dance Never Ends
My absolute favorite screamo album ever; vocalist Ina (yes she is female) has some of the gut-wrenching vocals I have ever heard and I feel her pain in every single rasp she lets loose. Musically the album is just as good, featuring an abundance of beautiful clean interludes and really emotional overdriven parts. | | 5 | | The Offspring Ixnay on the Hombre
I was so young when I first heard this but it's an album that has stayed with me over the years. The songs hear are the perfect combination of pop and The Offspring's trademark grungy hardcore. | | 6 | | Opeth Ghost Reveries
The first Opeth album I heard. That pretty much says it all. | | 7 | | Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone
I don't care what anyone else thinks, I love Breaking Benjamin and at the time of my hearing this, it was one of first albums I've heard that bridges heaviness with mainstream choruses. | | 8 | | Violent Dirge Craving
Amazing when I first heard it and still amazing today. Imagine Cynic with a heavier emphasis placed on death metal. | | 9 | | Portal Swarth
At first just undecipherable noise Swarth has since become a landmark for black/death metal, but insanely technical yet hauntingly atmospheric. | | 10 | | Morbid Angel Covenant
Do I even need an explanation for this? | |

Hvis Lyest should also be on this but I forgot to make a space for it because it's late and I'm deliriously tired | GnarlyShillelagh
02.15.12 | cool list, the only album I can say this about is Mono's Hymn to the Immortal Wind. At first listen I knew it was a 5, which is weird because I'm really picky about 5s and stuff, but it was so beautiful and it just floored me. My favorite album of all time. | GnarlyShillelagh
02.15.12 | Also, been meaning to check out 2 but I haven't because I have no idea what slowcore is, I've just seen quite a few people praising it. | ohfoxxxycole
