FruityCatOfDoom
02.14.12 | Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
I can't hear individual notes but I don't want too. I want the sludge to crush my soul. |
SCREAMorphine
02.14.12 | Loveless was a work of art production wise |
FruityCatOfDoom
02.14.12 | Yeah it was. It's crazy how long it took to make. Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins is pretty interesting production wise. Billy put a lot of effort in to crafting the sound he wanted |
ChuckyTruant
02.14.12 | Architects - Hollow Crown
the production is really quite nice. And I think PtH gets some pretty guitar tones as well |
BugZoid
02.14.12 | Yeah it's really all a matter of preference. Some days I'm more into different styles of production than others. Today it's this stuff. Fed Through the Teeth Machine is just.. so damn heavy and calculated. But as for Loveless I will agree with that. While I myself am not a huge fan of that album the level of production cannot be denied. |
BugZoid
02.14.12 | @ ChuckTheMan - I was debating putting Fortress on here actually, so good call on that one. These aren't the only five I love, of course. |
Sevhead
02.14.12 | Scurrilous, definitely. also the remaster for Rareform by After the Burial |
renegadestrings
02.14.12 | ^
i agree, Scurrilous has excellent guitar tone. I'd also put System of a Down's first album up. The crunch factor. props for 4, the guitar on Miss Machine sounds unlike anything DEP has put out since. |
SpiritCrusher2
02.14.12 | list needs Left Hand Path |
TechieCore
02.14.12 | Needs Northlane, Substructure, Lifeforms, and Volumes. |
Evreaia
02.14.12 | I'm liking to guitar tone on NAMI and Fallujah a lot. |
Katechon
02.14.12 | Needs more Boris. |
turnip90210
02.14.12 | NEEDZ MOAR PHUZZZZZ
Try Dinosaur Jr - Beyond. The guitar tone is so warm and lush, I love it. |
MO
02.14.12 | nice 1 and 5, needs Animals As Leaders and Guthrie Govan's erotic cakes |
CrownOfMagnets
02.14.12 | mastodon |
TheBjornIdentity

02.14.12 | The more you play, the less you like this compressed bullshit. |
NightProwler
02.14.12 | Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and The Dominos is without a doubt the album with the best guitar-playing ever made. Eric Clapton and Duane Allman is a killer combination. |
BassDemon333
02.14.12 | Meshuggah have the best guitar tone ever |
jdennis31
02.14.12 | i love teppei teranashi from thrice's guitar tones in major/minor and beggars. specifically the opening tracks on both albums |
jdennis31
02.14.12 | 'The more you play, the less you like this compressed bullshit.' huh? |
BugZoid
02.14.12 | ^ Yeah that's what I was thinking. I thought this was an okay list. I guess someone had to be the douche to ruin the moment. |
EasyModeDX
02.14.12 | I agree completely with this list, specially 1, 3, 4 and 5. If I had to add other albums though (even if your list only counts up to 5), My first pick would be porcupine tree's In Absentia, some other potential picks would be A Wilhelm Scream's Career Suicide, Coheed and Cambria's Good Apollo I'm burning star IV or choke's Slow fade:or how I learned to question infinity. Some The Fall of Troy wouldn't hurt either. |
ChuckyTruant
02.15.12 | Also DT's most recent album has some sweet tone AND John Myung is actually audible. And I'm sure there's more I'll think of later |

It's a good thing it's Valentine's Day; being an enormous pussy would be frowned upon the rest of the year. |
BugZoid
02.15.12 | In Absentia would be a pretty good choice actually. And on Chuck's comment: YES. The new Dream Theater album.. when I could sit and listen to a song and actually point out the bass at pretty much any given moment that was a big selling point for me. Great album. |
ChuckyTruant
02.15.12 | Yeah, agreed. Super awesome album. |
