MO 02.01.12	He has some really good ideas like how to save the economy (which no one will accept even though it's the right way to do it) and alot of policies that americans see as batshit. I personally doubt he'd be able to go through with alot of it but it'd be nice to see a good politician running murica.

EyeForAnEye 02.01.12	NASA is actually quite important. One main goal is to get people on Mars, possibly terraform it, and have people live there. The Earth is only so large and should probably start an interstellar civilization. That'd be cool.

MO 02.01.12	It basically comes down to him saying that businesses and banks need to realize the losses they've incurred, bite the bullet and accept the losses. The problem with this is obvious, no one (ie investors) want to see losses, so they'll pull their funds, massive layoffs, etc etc. Now in theory it works because it brings everything back to a "clean" slate with this debts not burdening financial institutions and businesses. So it sucks cause he knows what it takes to fix it in theory, but do you really think the american people would support "oh yea sure cut a shitload of jobs". There's alot more to it than that obvs, just summarizing.

MO 02.01.12	Nope, because the whole platform has been jobs jobs jobs spend spend spend. Nothing involving big bonuses to financial CEOs has been addressed. The main runners for the repubs seem to know fuck all about the economy anyway. "Just spend our way out of a crisis"...yea that doens't work so well.
Tyrael 02.01.12	But to get out of a crisis you have to stimulate the economy and that means you can't really cut your budgets as a government, isn't that what they mean?
omnipanzer 02.01.12	Republicans are unpredictable in all but their self interest.
MO 02.01.12	Kinda. If the government keeps increasing it's budgets though (basically debt ceiling), this leads to more money being printed and more interest on borrowing from other nations to finance the current ways which leads to more of the deficit which is basically totall out of hand. But the key to this whole thing is fixing(well attempting to) the economy/debt as soon as possible. In order to do this, spending has to be cut, again for the short term. But all the cuts Paul talks about, is overseas, foreign aid, welfare, military all that stuff. Again this is like the bare bones of the whole thing.

MO 02.01.12	Yea the EU is a whole other story, but in all honesty the US isn't too far away from another disaster similar to the EU countries mainly because of the amount of debt. Some of the countries had over 100% of their debt to GDP. Basically for every dollar someone made, the debt associated with that was the full dollar and then some, which is just nuts.
