Flaming Lips 30
Here's my favorite 30 Flaming Lips songs. Definitely the greatest band from my home state (OK!), I hope you'll enjoy it. Please leave some comments and I'm sorry if I offend you '80s lips fans (I don't think I have anything before In a Priest Driven Ambulance on here). Peace. |
1 | The Flaming Lips Fight Test
One of my favorite songs of all time. |
2 | She Don't Use Jelly
The song that made them popular and rightfully so. Perfect for a dreamy, slow, sunny afternoon. |
3 | Christmas at the Zoo |
4 | Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1
I wish all songs were this good. |
5 | Do You Realize??
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. |
6 | Race for the Prize |
7 | The W.A.N.D.
My favorite from At War with the Mystics. Great drums and my favorite use of the word 'motherf*cker' in song. |
8 | Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles
Not as well known as other Lips songs, but it has a phenomenal chorus. |
9 | Turn It On
Upbeat rock opener to Transmissions. |
10 | Slow Nerve Action
Phenomenal song. Impossible not to feel pleasantly sluggish after listening to this. |
11 | The Abandoned Hospital Ship
Superior opening to my favorite Lips album. |
12 | Placebo Headwound
Gorgeous and though-provoking. |
13 | Buggin'
Under appreciated I think by a lot of Lips fans. The heavy bass line is spectacular below the twinkling brightness of the vocals/guitar. |
14 | Bad Days
Often in my head when I wake up. Great bouncy rhythm. |
15 | Feeling Yourself Disintegrate/Sleeping on the Roof
It's hard not to tack these together. They make a stunning conclusion to a great album. |
16 | Halloween on the Barbary Coast
Epic. |
17 | Moth in the Incubator
Love how the song shifts multiple times. |
18 | The Sound of Failure
Great, longer Lips song. Very retro. |
19 | Lightning Strikes the Postman
Can't get over how good the guitar sound is here. |
20 | The Ego's Last Stand
Best song on Embryonic. Surprising. |
21 | Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell
Yoshimi fans should appreciate this one. |
22 | The Spark That Bled
Beautifully symphonic song. The quickened pace is the middle makes the somber finality all the more powerful. |
23 | Convinced of the Hex
Great bizarre minor key song, has plenty of Lips 'noise' going on. |
24 | Kim's Watermelon Gun
Another rocker, one of the many greats from the Lips' '95 masterpiece. |
25 | Unconsciously Screamin' |
26 | Frogs
Catchy chorus with some great backup vocals. |
27 | Five Stop Mother Superior Rain
Moving song from the earlier Lips. |
28 | The Sparrow Looks Up at the Machine
Great mysterious second track on the atmosphere-heavy Embryonic. The album doesn't have too many standouts but definitely still owns. |
29 | Pilot Can at the Queer of God
Straight up rocker. You really can't play this song without cranking the volume (as recommended on the back of Transmissions CD). |
30 | It's Summertime
Can't help but feel that it is when I hear this song. Great song to sit on the porch to. |
