01.26.12 | it's good if you wanna listen to stuff before you buy it/download it. |
theacademy
01.26.12 | it's bad for the industry and the artists but it supposedly works really well |
TheArkitecht
01.26.12 | That's all that I would probably use it for, or trying to find new stuff. |
JWT155
01.26.12 | Couldn't agree more with Cad, artists don't make shit from it but for the consumer it's a godsend. |
TheArkitecht
01.26.12 | @theacademy I download all my music anyway so that's probably even worse haha. |
TheArkitecht
01.26.12 | @JWT155 I'll probably get it then later. |
JWT155
01.26.12 | Artists do make money from it but it's like 0.000037 dollars per song play. Think Lady Gaga earns like $30 a month from it. |
jlech
01.26.12 | I really enjoy it. I use it at work all day long. It scrobbles to Last.FM |
TheArkitecht
01.26.12 | @JWT155 better than nothing whatsoever, but yeah that's pretty shit nonetheless.
@jlech I know it showes up on facebook but didn't know it scrobbled. |
AliW1993
01.26.12 | I buy music rather than download it and I use it all the time to listen to stuff before I buy it. Their database is pretty extensive too.
But yeah, artists make next to nothing from it. |
Sgian
01.26.12 | Premium would be cool because the ads are the bane of my life. Totally kills the flow of a record. |
bakkermaarten007
01.26.12 | "That's all that I would probably use it for, or trying to find new stuff."
I doesn't have the very obscure stuff. iTunes still has more. |
DeathByDaydream
01.26.12 | i like it. it's a convenient way of deciding whether or not you want to download something. |
ApplicationToHeaven
01.26.12 | considering it takes like 3 minutes to download an album i don't really see the point, plus the ads are annoying as hell |
AliW1993
01.26.12 | I really don't understand why people have a problem with the adverts. Yeah it'd be better without them but I don't find them that inconvenient. |
Willie
01.26.12 | I like it. I used the free one for awhile but transferred to the pay version so that I could have it on my phone too. It's awesome and so much easier than downloading shit from blogs when people make recommendations on this site. It's also cool because if I'm reviewing an album by a band I've never heard of, I can skim through their discography. |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | Spotify never has the obscure stuff I'm usually looking for
so meh |
Willie
01.26.12 | Damn. I've found all kinds of obscure stuff on there. At least stuff that I've never heard of before. I also like the last.fm integration so you can get rec's based off your scrobbles. |
iambandersnatch
01.26.12 | It's pretty useful. It's better than downloading every album you are even halfway curious about to
your HD. And it has most obscure stuff just not all. As its popularity grows the obscure shyte will be
on there more and more often. It's usually older obscure stuff that isn't on there for the obvious
reasons. |
greg84
01.26.12 | I've got the same problem as Tyraelxy. Not enough obscure stuff there for me. |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | Tried to search that new Nymeria album on there today
nothing
it was released in december cmon guys do I really have to get it off of youtube how gay is that |
Willie
01.26.12 | It did suck when a few of the independent metal labels pulled out. Especially Century Media. Like iambandersnatch it's definitely easier than downloading every random album someone rec's or that you're remotely curious about. |
greg84
01.26.12 | I actually prefer bandcamp to spotify. I know it's not exactly the same, but bandcamp is really useful when it comes to finding new awesome bands. |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | Finding new metal on it is a real bitch
it doesn't even have ash borer lol |
ffs
01.26.12 | Good treatment for acne, Fully Recommend. |
Willie
01.26.12 | I found like 80% of the doom stuff that was on some list here. I've also found a lot of the random death/black metal stuff that I've been rec'd (Most recently, Myrkskog) |
IAmHollywood
01.26.12 | it really doesn't have a lot of the stuff I listen to and it's annoying to use so I uninstalled it |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | Trey man I got Superior Massacre on vinyl somewhere |
Willie
01.26.12 | That's a cool album. I just heard it a few days ago... Through Spotify. |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | All right that's it, spotify doesn't even have the new craving
fuck this shit |
Willie
01.26.12 | Who the hell are they? |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | german melodic blackened death metal band but I can't find their new album anywhere |
Willie
01.26.12 | ... But we're going to blame Spotify anyway? |
pcar
01.26.12 | perhaps you could listen to more than just metal
just a suggestion |
Willie
01.26.12 | Hey hey hey. Let's not go too far. |
Tyrael
01.26.12 | 'perhaps you could listen to more than just metal
just a suggestion'
Have you even seen my 2011 list |
Willie
01.26.12 | I have seen it. It was way too predictable. |
Recspecs
01.27.12 | I love it, I get to shove indie rock down my facebook friends' throats. |
thatoneguy726
01.27.12 | It's amazing. This list is a reminder that I need to use it more. |
Recspecs
01.27.12 | The ads are a super cockblock though.
Especially if you are listening to something like Sufjan Stevens and a Nicki Minaj ad comes up ffs -_- |
bloc
01.27.12 | "I have seen it. It was way too predictable. "
oshi- Tons of sarcasm and bashing. I like this new Willie. |
bungy
01.27.12 | Spotify is great. I still buy the same amount of music as normal but now the artist gets paid at least a tiny bit and hopefully the amount increases as Spotify gets more popular. Fat Mike said in an interview that the artists get about a cent per song play and his label has received over $100,000 in royalties. Probably should be more, but of there's anyone we can trust it's Fat Mike right?
And the database is hit and miss but does have a ton of obscure stuff |
DeathByDaydream
01.27.12 | Especially if you are listening to something like Sufjan Stevens and a Nicki Minaj ad comes up ffs -_-
this is my only complaint with it. can't they tell by my music library that i am not interested in listening to the new taylor swift album? they already track what you listen to so why not implement some sort of target-advertising system.
but the artist actually gets paid much less than a cent per play, in response to what he said^
