4+ Bands That Were Created From The Ashes Of Another Band

Some bands come forth fully realized, other have to take baby steps...
1New Order

After the death of Ian Curtis and the demise of Joy Divison, the remaining
members recruited keyboardist Gillian Gilbert and then went on to produce
critically acclaimed albums that combined New Wave and Electronica.
2Fugazi

This band was formed as a punk supergroup from bands such as Dag Nasty
(drummer Collin Sears and bassist Joey Lally), Rites of Spring (Guy Piccioto)
and the landmark hardcore/straight-edge band Minor Threat (Ian MacKaye).
They would go on to release critically acclaimed albums before going on
hiatus in 2001.
3Oasis

Started out as The Rain but then Noel Gallagher became involved. Literally
that's it and don't complain in the comments.
4Peal Jam/ Mudhoney

Mudhoney rose from the ashes of Green River and became a landmark indie
band with albums such as "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge". Pearl Jam
came from Mother Love Bone, which included Jeff Ament and Stone
Gossard. Also Jack Irons, their one time drummer, came from Red Hot Chili
Peppers, but that's a tale for another day.
