01.12.12 | Thanks a lot man. Yeah, I have a friend in mind to do some drums. Hopefully that works out. |

01.12.12 | That's cool to have a good drummer nearby. When I was in a band, all they'd play was pop punk and, when feeling complex, one A7X song. Don't even imagine when I attempted to jam or write a song. |

01.12.12 | lol funny thing is the only band i've ever been in was a pop/punk/emo band. Yeah dude I got lucky it isn't too hard for me but does pose it's challenges. I just sit down try to apply what i hear in my head to the guitar and either build or refine it. |

01.12.12 | I'll check it out once I get home tonight so I can access youtube. It's blocked at work for me. I'm always excited to hear fellow artist who make music. check out my stuff at www.youtube.com/seedofnothing
I'm working on about 4 new songs that'll be up in a few days. |

01.12.12 | Thanks bro! Yeah I write and produce all my own music. |

01.12.12 | I use sony acid 7 for mixing and production.
Pod Farm by line 6 for pre-amps models
Line 6 ux2 toneport
That's pretty much it. All done on my laptop with my musical gear. |

01.13.12 | Nice set up. Reminds me how badly I need some software. Should be recording soon-ish though. |

01.13.12 | Yeah It's funny I was where you were about 2-3 years ago and was just a dude who loved jamming the guitar and writing my own stuff. I've always wanted to record my own stuff but didn't know shit for pickles. Then this dude at my job who was in a band doing covers for Iron maiden songs[much older guy] showed me everything I needed to know. I was like I don't have lot of money, and he was like you don't need a lotta money, just do what I say.
I hesitated on producing my own stuff because I thought it cost waaay too much money. After talking with this guy and getting direction I was able to get all my recording gear, which was the above listed things, a condensor mic, keyboard[I already had a guitar, bass and other stuff] for about $500 bucks which is a killer price to record your own stuff.
I ordered everything online from musicianfriend.com and have been immensly stoked since then. Now I know enough to accomplish my long time goals. If you need any advice I'd be happy to direct you in anyway I can. |
Trebor.
01.13.12 | Cool
I need a drum machine too |
seedofnothing
01.13.12 | Sup Treb. There's many different ones to choose from but I usually encourage individuals to use drum loops from a reputable company that produced them well. The best I know of are the ones found at
http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/
look into it. I actually have the one from the double bass mania series. You can get pretty creative with them. You have learn how to cut and chop them for certain reasons of creativity. But the one I got comes with several different tempos of riffs to choose from, fills and single and one shots. Much more convenient for writing music. The drum machine take much longer especially if you're playing metal.
The advantage the drum loops at the above site have, is they are recorded in a professional studio by professional drummers and sound great. They have tons of drum loop software for every type of musical style. There are samply recording on the site you should check out. They also post up songs from people who bought their loops on the site too.
If your really stuck on drum machine though, I don't really have any good recs for you on that. "Kill" might know of some though as I think he uses those. Hope this helps. |

01.13.12 | Ok fig I just heard your song. Sounds great! I like the spontaneity of the riffs used, especially the tempo drop around the middle. Nice guitar tone and technique. Like mentioned before it'll be great to hear it with appropriate drums and bass. It'll take more work but will pay off in the end.
I wouldn't mind if that song was 10 minutes long, at the creativity level you were going at, it would be fully enjoyable. I look forward to your future recordings. Subscribed. |

01.13.12 | Thanks a lot man. Haha then I'd hope it will please you to hear that that is the first movement in a
five part song approximating in length at about 30min. Also, I have a majority of an album written
which sums up to ten songs. Though I am in the process of weeding out some of the older material and
replacing it with more appropriate pieces. Once I get these things recorded you and my facebook will
be the first to know. :D |
jdennis31
01.13.12 | lol, are these your first recordings? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZgOfGWmD3U this is my first recording ever and it turned out so jumbled and i think i had a lot better equipment than you -_- goes to show skill > equipment haha |
