My Best Of 2011
These aren't the best of 2011 because I haven't heard all the albums of r2011. There are still rso many that i need to get to. This is just a list of rthe best albums that I've heard from 2011. |
1 | | Incubus If Not Now, When?
This was very disappointing, but the last four songs really saved this for me. The
only real reason I bought this is because I'm a huge Incubus fan. |
2 | | Primus Green Naugahyde |
3 | | Cloudkicker Let Yourself Be Huge |
4 | | The United Sons of Toil When the Revolution Comes, Everything Will Be Beau |
5 | | Crash of Rhinos Distal |
6 | | The Odious That Night a Forest Grew
The description on this band's bandcamp page was death metal and jazz. So
needless to say i was confused and intrigued. Since it was free, i gave it a chance.
And it was surprisingly good, kind of trailed off towards the end, but it mixed the
metal aspects(more of this) and the jazz aspects pretty well. |
7 | | The Black Keys El Camino
A little worse than Brothers, but still a great release. Still gives me hope that they
will once again put out an album that consists of just guitar, drums and a shit ton
of blues. |
8 | | Death Grips Exmilitary |
9 | | Love Axe Phenomenomenons |
10 | | Love American Love American |
11 | | Trophywife An Innocent Orphan In The Post-Modern World |
12 | | The Weeknd Thursday |
13 | | Deftones Covers |
14 | | Thou The Archer and the Owle |
15 | | Embers Shadows |
16 | | Mr. Tough Mr. Tough |
17 | | Wugazi Wugazi: The 13th Chamber |
18 | | Iron & Wine Kiss Each Other Clean
I read way too much hate about this album. Who gives a shit if Sam Beam used
more than 2 instruments, went electronic, and used the big budget from his
major label to produce a damn fine album. |
19 | | Mother Grizzly Hunt |
20 | | Dispatch Dispatch EP |
21 | | The Mountain Goats All Eternals Deck |
22 | | The Antlers Burst Apart |
23 | | Toxic Holocaust Conjure and Command |
24 | | Black Tusk Set The Dial |
25 | | Orwell AVOHFASIH |
26 | | Young Widows In and Out of Youth and Lightness |
27 | | Battles Gloss Drop |
28 | | Manchester Orchestra Simple Math |
29 | | A Lot Like Birds Conversation Piece
This was, simply put, a very well written album. Everything seemed to be well
thought out and the album art is great too. |
30 | | Mastodon The Hunter |
31 | | The Weeknd Echoes of Silence |
32 | | The Weeknd House of Balloons |
33 | | Colin Stetson New History Warfare, Vol 2: Judges
The amazing things this man can do with a giant saxophone. And thats not an
innuendo. |
34 | | The Dear Hunter The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)
I love how all these Eps can stand on their own, and yet they fit together very
well. |
35 | | Giraffes? Giraffes! Pink Magick |
36 | | And So I Watch You From Afar Gangs
It's so awesome to listen to this band grow and mature. This album makes me
want to travel to the U.K. to see these guys live. |
37 | | Fucked Up David Comes to Life |
38 | | TV on the Radio Nine Types of Light |
39 | | Foo Fighters Wasting Light
Even though I'm a bit bias because I'm a foo fighters fanboy, I love this album,
and it was a great release. |
40 | | Thrice Major/Minor
I really thought this album was all hype, but man was i wrong. The production on
this album was great and mixed with great songwriting equals a great album. |
41 | | Russian Circles Empros |
42 | | BADBADNOTGOOD BBNG
If this is the future of jazz, I cannot wait for it to get here. This album has
inspired me more in one listen than another album this year. It has infected my
brain, and I am looking forward for when they release an album of all originals. |
