Year End List 2011

Some good listens from 2011. Still need to hear some other stuff, but who has the time to rhear everything?
1Arctic Monkeys
Suck it and See

This has been left off of many year-end lists. But the reason escapes me. The guitar on this album sounds bigger than life
itself. At some point, the strings make you spin with dizziness until they bring you out of the vertigo with crunching riffs. Lots
of intricate melodies woven with great rhythm arrangements. Irreverent, great and sometimes haunting..'Or an ip, dip, dog-
shit rock and roll'...
2Wilco
The Whole Love

Opening track is one of Tweedy's best efforts, albeit, with help from Nels. "Capital City" has a Magic Mystery feel. Bonus disc
has some nice additions. All in all, this album is not as good as "Sky Blue Sky" but is worth being up on lists across the board.
Listening.
3Radiohead
The King of Limbs

Did Radiohead forget that they already made this record? KID A revisited, York's vocals are a bit brighter on "King" and the
tracks are more upbeat, up-tempo and jazzier than the later. Has some good moments, but definitely not their best effort.
4Fucked Up
David Comes to Life

A blitz of hardcore punk riffs fill this album to the brim. It is complex and masterfully woven. Tracks 1-4 are a perfect. The
harmony of yells and beautiful feminine vocals are genius. The middle of the album falls off a little, but the final 2 tracks
really drive the point home.
5Bad Meets Evil
Hell: The Sequel

Some of Em's best work in awhile. A couple songs could have been scrapped though. I hate when rap albums turn into a
pissing contest of cuss words and disrespect to women. But when it shines, it is a beast of lyricism. Royce and Em shouldn?t
go this long again in-between albums.
6 Raphael Saadiq
Stone Rollin'

This album has so much promise. Then falls short. I wish the arraignments were more complex and songs were more
developed musically. A good homage to early black music, but could be much, much, more. However, one thing must be said.
Everyone should be dancing to ?Stone Rollin? track on New Years.
7Panda Bear
TomBoy

Sonically beautiful. Nevertheless, a little boring for my tastes. Makes me yearn for some ?Merriweather Post Pavilion?.
