Top 10 Most Disappointing Albums Of 2011

For all the awesome albums that hit all the high notes and deliver on the hype, there's always some that just can't deliver on the hype that proceeds the album's release. Some of these albums aren't bad per se, but they certainly did not live up to the expectations I had for them.
10Memory Tapes
Player Piano

The band's previous release, Seek Magic, was a fantastic LP and this one held a lot of promise. I even really liked the song "Wait In The Dark" on the album, Player Piano. Sadly, the rest of the songs couldn't avoid sounding like half assed afterthoughts from their first album. Oh well..."Wait In The Dark" still rules.
9The Rapture
In The Grace Of Your Love

Though I really like The Rapture's previous releases, In The Grace Of Your Love just seemed to be going through the motions instead of enhancing the sound of their previous releases. Sure, you don't necessarily have to do something completely different than previous releases, but The Rapture really should have done something to make this album less forgettable.
8Moby
Destroyed

I haven't heard a Moby album since Play that was as fun as it was inventive. No such luck here with Destroyed. Oh well, you can't really expect Moby to deliver an album as good as Play anymore.
7 Jane's Addiction
The Great Escape Artist

After a super long wait, the latest Jane's Addiction album had much hype behind it, but failed to deliver. Why? Because it played it too safe and the band just seemed to be going through the motions instead of expanding on their sound. Oh well, any release from Jane's Addiction is better than none...I guess.
6Wale
Ambition

Wale's debut album, Attention Deficit, was a very solid release and showed off some serious potential from this rapper who also dishes out awesome mixtapes like no other. Unfortunately, all that talent succumbed to a sophomore slump and Ambition was certainly ambitious, but the mediocre quality of every aspect of the album, especially the forgettable production, left much to be desired. Maybe third time will be a charm for this talented rapper.
5Lil Wayne
Tha Carter IV

I'm not a huge Lil Wayne fan but I do have a liking for Tha Carter III. In hopes that it wouldn't be as awful as Rebirth or as forgettable as I Am Not A Human Being, Tha Carter IV left me disappointed. There were some stand out tracks that made it better than his previous two releases, but the lyricism and production just didn't come close to fun nature of Tha Carter III.
4The Strokes
Angles

To be fair, Angles is not a bad release by any means and is at least better than the band's previous release. But when the album was being hyped to be on the same level as Is This It?, one can't help but feel a bit disappointed with the final product that settles for being good instead of great.
3Justice
Audio, Video, Disco

Okay, I did not hate this album by any means, but after their fantastic release (Cross), I expected a more focused and consistent release. There's some solid tracks here, but there's also tracks that just sound so insincere and half assed that I feel like Justice shouldn't carry on with the whole rock influence shindig.
2DJ Shadow
The Less You Know The Better

Endtroducing... is an amazing album and a classic of the genre and people have been waiting for ages for another release from DJ Shadow that can compete with it. Sadly, fans are still left waiting since The Less You Know, The Better lived up to its name and delivered poor genre mash ups and was instantly forgettable. The less people know about this release, the better.
1Lupe Fiasco
Lasers

I love Food & Liquor and The Cool with a passion and the long delayed Lasers was sounding good before it's release with solid singles "The Show Goes On" and "Words I Never Said." The actual release however, was a total mess. The solid rapping was completely crushed by awful production and attempts at hooky and club friendly songs. It was a shame to see such a talented rapper succumb to what the studio wants and compromising what made him so great in the first place. Lupe himself spoke against the album but that doesn't stop his album from being a total fiasco itself.
