Poet's Songs Of 2011
2011 has been a weird year for me musically. I have pretty much rabandoned listening to artists I previously never heard of and just rstuck to the ones I knew. That along with listening to mostly metal rmade this a somewhat disappointing year for me....Whatever here rare my 10 songs of 2011 |
| 10 | | Trivium In Waves
Of All These Yesterdays: Again another album that wasn't that great, but
this song is infectious. I caught myself singing this song more times while
driving than any other this year. |
| 9 | | Opeth Heritage
Folklore: Yeah the album blows chunks but this is "soft" Opeth done right.
The last three minutes are breathtaking |
| 8 | | In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading
Ropes: This is a song I probably shouldn't have liked as it screams
Soundtrack and Come Clarity (which I can't stand). For some reason it stuck
when I heard it and I loved it. |
| 7 | | Dream Theater A Dramatic Turn of Events
Beneath the Surface: Drained me emotionally this year but I needed it. |
| 6 | | Cynic Carbon-Based Anatomy
Box Up My Bones: I'm COMING HOME I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE |
| 5 | | Fair to Midland Arrows and Anchors
Short Haired Tornado: I like to thank John Hanson for this one. I read his
review and was intrigued. Good thing I did |
| 4 | | Rhapsody of Fire From Chaos to Eternity
Heroes of the Waterfall's Kingdom: IN BETWEEN AMAZING LAKES AND
BREATHTAKING WATERFALLS!!!! |
| 3 | | Moonsorrow Varjoina Kuljemme Kuolleiden Maassa
Huuto: 16 minutes of the most gorgeous melody ever? Yes Please!! |
| 2 | | Amon Amarth Surtur Rising
War of the Gods: I remember where I was when I first heard this song. My
jaw dropped and I just stared at my computer screen. The end of the year
has come two weeks too late as this was by far the best song until..... |
| 1 | | Nightwish Imaginaerum
Song of Myself: I mean really having this band at 1 shouldn't be a shock but
after listening to this song every day for the past two weeks and still
finding something new every time makes this the clear pick. |
