Monheim
11.04.11 | Pretty much what everyone has said so far and I'd check out Spokes - People Like People Like You if I were you. It's one of the best examples of modern post-rock, and is supremely accessible. |

jefflebowski
11.04.11 | You want Talk Talk's later albums btw, the early stuff is basically just synth-pop. Start with Spirit of Eden and then move onto Laughing Stock and possibly Mark Hollis' S/T.
GY!BE are pretty much the pinnacle of post-rock, but my personal favorite albums are:
Millions Now Living Will Never Die - Tortoise
Soundtracks For the Blind - Swans
Young Team - Mogwai
Spiderland - Slint |
foxblood
11.04.11 | listen to God Is An Astronaut's other albums, they're better i think |

11.04.11 | Of course it's soooooooo cool to not like Explosions in the Sky because they're sooooooo mainstream. Fact is, you need The Earth Is Not a Cold, Dead Place. |
BugZoid
11.08.11 | I really wish Sleepmakeswaves wasn't selling the hard copy for twenty bucks. That is so steep for a cheap ass like me. But damn that has some greats. |
BugZoid
11.08.11 | I enjoy them as well, but sometimes it just ends up being too tedious for me. I like my music to give me a thrill from time to time. I'm not always looking for an extended audio experience that needs to be studied. Don't get me wrong. It's great mood inducing music, just not always in my realm of taste. |

65daysofstatic - One Time for All Time
Immanu El - They'll Come They Come

11.09.11 | I started listening to GY!BE and nearly shit my pants. It's so good. |

11.09.11 | Immanu El - They'll Come They Come [2] |

11.09.11 | The amount of effort they put into their music is astounding.
It makes music I once thought good sound like a pile of garbage. |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | They make time fly by like nothing else. And once I finish listening to a 90 minute long album, which actually feels like 10 minutes, I feel my shirt completely soaked in sweat and my heart pumping like crazy. No other music does that to me. |
Keyblade
11.09.11 | lol sounds like you fucked the shit out of your cd |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | Oh trust me, I did. |

11.09.11 | Who doesn't fuck their Skinny Fists CD? |

11.09.11 | I use both CDs and when I'm in the mood for a more old-school experience I bring my vinyl to the party. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | Hahaha I have the vinyl too. It's unplayable though because there's too much cum on it. |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | Cum makes it sound more crisp and alive. |
Tikicobra
11.09.11 | I'm going to get torn apart for this, but I find post rock to be excruciatingly difficult to listen to. I can't bring myself to sit down and listen to a 12 minute long instrumental song, I just don't have the patience. |
zxlkho
11.09.11 | I don't know what else to say besides that sucks for you. |
InAbsentia
11.09.11 | Yeah. I feel bad for you, man. |

11.09.11 | @ Tikicobra
It was like that for me at first too. The genre is a grower. |
BugZoid
11.09.11 | @Tikicobra
One of my favorite post rock/metal bands is Rosetta. For me they just possess something that I have never felt from any other band. And they have a vocalist, buried deep in the mix, most times. Powerful stuff. |
