Good Show Last Night
So apparently someone decided to merge the Thrice and Manchester Orchestra tours here in rSalt Lake. Seven bands, only two I hadn't seen live before. It was long, it was awesome, and I rwant to tell you about it. |
| 1 | | Moving Mountains Pneuma
I missed the first song of their set, but the rest of the songs were decent, I don't know if they lived up to the hype of
this album though. |
| 2 | | O'Brother The Death of Day
I've seen these guys 3 times in the last year and a half and each time they get better. This night was no exception.
They were the highlight of the show for me until Thrice played |
| 3 | | O'Brother Garden Window
I'm super excited for this album. Every new song I hear of this album is better than the last. |
| 4 | | The Dear Hunter The Color Spectrum
I have now seen this band more than any other, a whopping four times, and not by choice mind you. They always open
for some other band be it Thrice or mewithoutyou, and they always leave me underwhelmed. There's always one or two
songs I really enjoy, but I don't understand the hype of these guys. |
| 5 | | La Dispute Wildlife
Here's another band I find completely overrated. Although I couldn't get enough of the frontmans dance moves. |
| 6 | | White Denim D
Nothing like a good ole jam band to get you hyped up for the headliners. |
| 7 | | Manchester Orchestra I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child
You can never question Andy Hull's intensity, but tonight I'm wondering about their setlist. I don't think they played any
songs off of this album. |
| 8 | | Manchester Orchestra Simple Math
And they didn't play "Simple Math" or "Pensicola" |
| 9 | | Thrice Major/Minor
I've been digging this album hard lately and really enjoyed hearing "Words in the Water" That song was epic. "The Earth
Will Shake" was also epic, as usual we had the addition of drums from O'brother and La Dispute and Moving Mountains
to make it even more so. |
| 10 | | Thrice The Illusion of Safety
They came back out to play "Abolition of Man" for their encore, and I loved it. After seeing them live a few times now I
feel like there is a special unity with the Thrice crew, it was funny to me that after Manchester finished all the people in
front of me were on average about 4 inches taller. I think it makes concerts better when you don't hate the other people
there, like the Brand New shows for instance. |
