11.02.11 | @InAbsentia: I prefer Mute actually.

Valerius
11.02.11 | that must mean eloy is good shit. |
Jethro42
11.02.11 | Less good than Pink Floyd, but in the same vein to some extent |
Valerius
11.02.11 | Eloy has been one of the few prog bands I have really liked so far. They jam. Need to check out more of their discography. |
greg84
11.02.11 | Thanks for so many recs guys. I'll be sure to check out some of those.
"Porcupine Tree - pre In Absentia" Yeah. I know that. |

11.02.11 | Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut
Darkspace - Dark Space III |

Jruined
11.02.11 | I've brought this up on other lists, but Captain Beyond's self titled would fit in nice right here. |
Jruined
11.02.11 | Jethro's recs too. |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | Sup Jruined. you got a judicious rec there. Kind of spacy Deep Purple. |
omnipanzer
11.03.11 | Love 11, thanks to Jethro. |
omnipanzer
11.03.11 | Whats the album you guys keep reminding me about... is it marillion? |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | It's always a pleasure to share music with my sputbuds, bud! |
TheNotrap
11.03.11 | Space Rock?
Nothing beats The Dark Side Of The Moon
but if you wish listen to:
The Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination and I Robot
You will fly Greg I guarantee
|
Jethro42
11.03.11 | I think so yeah. Marillion is especially coming from the insistence of our friend Notrap. Well at a minimum, get Misplaced Childhood asap. |
omnipanzer
11.03.11 | Getting "Misplaced Childhood" which I think was the one. |
TheNotrap
11.03.11 | Misplaced Childhood....masterpiece pure gold |
cb123
11.03.11 | Codeseven - The Rescue
Cave In - Jupiter
Orbs - Asleep next to science |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | Yeah, Marillion rule, and I could easily see you digging them, omni. Their heydays are from the Fish' era, but the band cannot do wrong. |
omnipanzer
11.03.11 | just got it so I'll listen to it tomorrow at work. ;^) |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | Cool omni! If you like it, just let me know. If you don't, tell Notrap haha jk |
TheNotrap
11.03.11 | Omni

11.03.11 | Oceansize discography (preferably in chronological order) |
TheNotrap
11.03.11 | Like Jethro said:
"Marillion rule, and I could easily see you digging them"
Today I listened to Script for a Jester's Tear...their debut...another gem
If you wish listen to Chelsea Monday, an awesome song |
sideburndude
11.03.11 | Try Nektar "A Tab in the Ocean". |
Jruined
11.03.11 | Marillion (I still can't stop listening to Script for a Jester's Tale) is on the money. French TV, Funkadelic's Maggot Brain, Miriodor, Guapo, and Bohren & der Club of Gore (even though it's doom laden) are all awesome.
Quest for Fire and Ancestors are great too.
Where does stoner rock turn into space rock into prog?
Mettallica's Orion is nice piece of space rock in my opinion as well. |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | @Jruined, if you like Miriodor, you might like this a lot;

kangaroopoo
11.03.11 | I've only just got into Hawkwind and really dig them. No wonder I like Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu and Kyuss so much. Their influence was massive on Monster Magnet in particular. Lemme sounds great. |
AsoTamaki
11.03.11 | Ayreon - Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer
It's beautiful. |
Jruined
11.03.11 | Jethro- I love Uzed. Great album. |
greg84
11.03.11 | In case somebody would like to listen to something that's actually on the list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99QhDruqYOY |
JamieTwort
11.03.11 | Nice list.
9 rocks hard m/ |
greg84
11.03.11 | Yeah. 9 is ace! Just as every album on this list tbh. |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | Agree for Supafuzz and the list in general. But save 2 or 3 songs, Demians is not that good imo. In the same vein, I prefer by far Gazpacho. |
greg84
11.03.11 | Not in the same vein imo. I can't stand Gazpacho or at least a couple of their tracks I've heard. |
Metalstyles
11.03.11 | I can't believe this, but I might actually have a rec for YOU in in this stoner rock department. What a moment this is for me haha. Anyway, try out Black Space Riders' self titled album, I hope you'll like it. |
Jethro42
11.03.11 | @Greg; Oh! Too late for me to compare both bands, I've deleted the biggest part of Demians. You've probably heard of 'Night' by Gazpacho. Album 'Tick Tock' is nearly perfect to me. Their music is inevitably getting better with each listens. Highly recommended to the fans of Genesis or Marillion. |
Masochist
11.03.11 | Failure - 'Fantastic Planet' |
Valerius
11.03.11 | 1971 Ash Ra Tempel - Ash Ra Tempel
I was listening to this again earlier, and was researching on it and saw it listed as space rock. It is a psychedelic/progressive Krautrock album that is really damn good. |
greg84
11.03.11 | @Metalstyles: Cool. I'll be sure to look into these guys.
@Jethro: I don't remember exactly which tracks I've heard. All I know they made little to no impression on me. I especially disliked the vocals. |
greg84
11.03.11 | @cb123: Codeseven - I haven't heard, Cave In - are really good I dig their latest album, Orbs - this is literally one of the worst albums I've heard. |
anarchistfish
11.03.11 | Faunts, Failure, Babylon Zoo |
greg84
11.03.11 | Jupiter is amazing as expected. Thanks for recommending this people. |
cb123
11.03.11 | you should dig codeseven man, its along the lines of jupiter more than the other, their last two albums are pretty good stuff |
greg84
11.04.11 | Youtube vidz somehow didn't convince me, but nonetheless I'll try to get on it.
@Jethro: T.2. - No More White Horses: Cool stuff if you ask me. The horns are great. |
Jethro42
11.04.11 | Ah I'm glad you like it, mate. A kind of Jimi Hendrix meets Crazy Horse, I'd say. Also reminds me of some Crosby Stills Nash and Young but in a more raw, more harsh way. Have you ever heard;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7GypLdOpws |
Jethro42
11.04.11 | Wishbone Ash are not necessarily reminiscent of T2, but are space rock nonetheless. |
greg84
11.04.11 | This one's quite mellow. I don't dig this so much. Check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvbfWh50exM |
Jethro42
11.04.11 | Quite a polar opposite, bro haha. Picked up from your last list I see. Sounds great! |
greg84
11.04.11 | Cool. Their music has been bombarding my eardrums lately. |
