Awesome Psychedelia

Some psychedelic rock albums I think are really awesome. Tune in and drop out.
12Screaming Trees
Dust

The single best album of this psychedelic-grunge band (featuring Mark Lanegan on vox). Fantastic for a rainy day.
11Vincebus Eruptum
Blue Cheer

This speaker busting debut is essential listening for any fan of psychedelic rock. Jim Morrison called them "the most powerful band [he's] ever seen".
10The Wild Orchid Children
The Wild Orchid Children Are Alexander Supertramp

This band out of Seattle (featuring Gatsby's American Dream and Kay Kay's Weathered Underground members Kirk Huffman and Kyle O'Quin), blew away the rest of the Seattle scene last year with their debut. Their super-energetic hybrid of psychedelic rock and hardcore punk could become a new trend in rock.
9 Acid Mothers Temple
La Nòvia

Mixing droning eastern folk music with droning psychedelic rock, Acid Mothers Temple were the first significant psychedelic rock band of the 21st century.
8Pink Floyd
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Pink Floyd's best and most psychedelic. The first album to take psychedelic music to space.
7Bardo Pond
Bufo Alvarius, Amen 29:15

Bardo Pond's just all about drugs, and their music (a sort of stoner-shoegaze sound, to give an approximation) definitely shows it. Awesome album.
6Jimi Hendrix
Electric Ladyland

Not much to say, other than that it's Hendrix's most ambitious, most stunning, and overall greatest album.
5The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground & Nico

Maybe not the most psychedelic album on this list, but it's still a trip. Doesn't hurt that it's one of the greatest rock albums ever.
4My Bloody Valentine
Loveless

Never heard of 'em.
3The Red Krayola
The Parable of Arable Land

This album is five songs separated by "free-form freakouts". The songs slowly rise from the cacophony, materializing only for a few minutes before dissolving into a wash of sounds again. Highly reccomended
2Fushitsusha
Live I

One of the greatest guitarists ever explores the infinite possibilities of psychedelia. The solo with which Keiji Haino closes the album is the most beautiful guitar solo I've ever heard.
1Hash Jar Tempo
Well Oiled

This collaboration between Bardo Pond and experimental guitarist Roy Montgomery is basically everything psych rock rolled into one album. And then some. If Pink Floyd's music is lunar, Hash Jar Tempo's music is intergalactic.
