Top 5 things to Overdo On A Drumset Nowadays

Just some drumming fads that have came in and are waaay overused due to popularity. If you are an aspiring drummer just follow these ideas and chicks will do you (lesbian chicks if you are a female). Despite the sexual glory, other drummers might look down on such simple cliche's, just to warn ya.
116th notes on a high hat

Thanks all to hell Jon Dolyman (SOAD). Now every single person varying from punk to metal feel that there has to be a continuous amount of 16th notes on a high hat to keep a beat. At least it sounds kinda cool, just waaaay too overused.
2Fast Trip-o-lets

These aren't incredibly overused yet...but I can feel it...they will be. Bands such as Wolfmother and The Arctic Monkeys are getting big and they both casually sneak in copious amounts of tipolets. Well, maybe Wolfmother isn't so sneaky about it...
3(bass) snare (bass)(bass) snare

Are you in a punk band that wants to get popular? All you need is this beat! I mean listen to Green Day and The Offspring, over 50% of their songs have this beat or a close variant, and they are super rich, so go right ahead, and not be creative.
4Open high-hat

Technically, these have always been a little overused, but Jesus. De-Loused (The Mars Volta) is absolutely riddled with these, but in a good way. Several punk and Indie albums overuse this in a bad way, however. (none just come to mind right now)
5Ghost notes

Another thing that will always be popular, but has became almost overpopular in recent years. How many times have you listened to RHCP and wondered, couldn't Chad Smith just hit the snare for real once and a while?!
