The Procrastination List

I don't feel like studying for my impending Psychology midterm, so instead I'll make a random list and possibly be trolled by users who disagree with my musical taste, which obviously means they're music taste is better than mine, and I am a musical peasant. Come at me bro.
1The Color Morale
My Devil In Your Eyes

One of the best metalcore albums I've heard, and I'm seeing these guys in two days. I'm pretty pumped.
2Memphis May Fire
The Hollow

Listening to this right now. Also one of the best metalcore albums to come out recently.
3Converge
Jane Doe

Okay, I never understood why everybody is so enamored with this album. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent album and I most certainly enjoy it, but I don't really think it's as fantastic as sputnik makes it out to be.
4The Crimson Armada
Conviction

Here's where the battles begin. Yes, the album is painfully generic, and poorly done, and some of the songs are god-awful, but I don't think it's a tragedy. I actually enjoy the first four songs on the album. Beyond that, the album is below average, and it makes me wonder why they dropped the Guardians sound entirely.
5Woe, Is Me
Number[s]

This album was pretty damn good in my opinion. Despite getting repetitive towards the end and the fact that the songs were hard to distinguish from each other, I thought that they formulated a damn good debut. That being said, the new song is SO FUCKING TERRIBLE. It's like six breakdowns separated by more breakdowns with a couple clean sections mixed in. And what's with their weird ass punctuation anyway?
6Brand New
The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

I absolutely hated these guys upon first listen (partially due to immature music taste at the time) but the more I listen, the more it grows on me. This album and Daisy too. I imagine that soon they will be frequent listens.
7Norma Jean
Bless the Martyr, and Kiss the Child

My first ever favorite metalcore band. Once my tastes exploded and began including progressive and indie and everything else I now listen to, they were swept under the rug and forgotten. Until I saw them at Scream the Prayer a couple months ago and I got to see Josh Scogin and Cory Brandan perform "Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste" side by side. One of the most intense performances I've ever seen.
8August Burns Red
Constellations

I really hope they include more of the jazzy, proggy stuff on the next album. Leveler as a whole wasn't as good as Constellations, but damn some of those songs were great.
9Between the Buried and Me
Colors

Favorites, hands down. Loved them from the moment I heard the opening notes to Colors. Go ahead, tell me they suck, it's not gonna change my opinion of them at all.
10Asking Alexandria
Reckless and Relentless

Fuck this band. How they became the most popular (or one of the most popular at least) metalcore bands out there while musically talented bands like some of those listed above remain unknown and underground is beyond me. The day this band breaks the fuck up will be a good day.
