Oceanic
Wavering Radiant
In The Absence Of Truth
Celestial |
Ignimbrite
10.12.11 | Panopticon, no question. That album had more impact on me when I first heard it than any other music I've ever heard. Oceanic is great too, though. |

10.12.11 | "celestial...nah just kidding that album sucks"
lol it's has their heaviest moments there, it's well-written too. |
warrar1
10.12.11 | panopticon is reallyyyy good but forevers a pretty long time man....id get bored of it eventualy.
oceanic is more interresting so id go with that |
warrar1
10.12.11 | heavy doesnt equal good. their songwritting skills at that point pretty much blew |
Ignimbrite
10.12.11 | ...except that Celestial is a good album, but whatever. |
eternium
10.12.11 | There isn't a single thing Isis has done that is bad.
Panopticon, of course, is best. |

10.12.11 | glisten, collapse and crush, cft, deconstructing towers, swarm reigns I say are on par with songwriting with what's on panopticon and oceanic. |
Maniac!
10.12.11 | 2 |
warrar1
10.12.11 | not at all...they take one idea and pretty much milk it for all its worth. there is no (good) buildup at all on celestial. oceanic is pretty much celestial but with 4x as good songwriting |
Ignimbrite
10.12.11 | I also feel like people forget about SGNL>05 sometimes. Divine Mother (The Tower Crumbles) is one of their best songs. |
eternium
10.12.11 | Glisten is one of their best songs. |
Ignimbrite
10.12.11 | True, it's kind of dumb to say that atmospheric sludge isn't good because it has no buildups. |
warrar1
10.12.11 | idk i think they were trying to go for it but they didnt do a really good job. even if, sludge shouldnt be 8 minutes long per song lol |
Relinquished
10.12.11 | "sludge shouldnt be 8 minutes long per song lol"
do you even know sludge metal |
eternium
10.12.11 | That's the LOL comment of the day. |
warrar1
10.12.11 | what other sludge band has songs that long? other then some melvins songs but those are usualy more droney. |
ShadowRemains
10.12.11 | clearly not |
Ignimbrite
10.12.11 | "sludge shouldnt be 8 minutes long per song lol"

10.12.11 | down, acid bath, eyehategod, high on fire, crowbar, kylesa. some bands off the top of my head. 5 min songs tops... |
Relinquished
10.12.11 | jokes on you eyehategod has a 7 minute song, high on fire almost 8 |
warrar1
10.12.11 | basically my whole original point is that celestial's songs dont go anywhere to warrent such long song times. |
ShadowRemains
10.12.11 | not sure what crowbar album ur talkin about, but odd fellows rest has two songs 6 min+ |
eternium
10.12.11 | Eyehategod - Blank (7:10)
Acid Bath - Dead Girl (7:23)
Crowbar - Liquid Sky and Cold Black Earth (6:24)
Down - Bury Me in Smoke (7:04)
Kylesa - The Warning (6:26)

10.12.11 | idk I kinda would agree on the title track, but everything else you should probably re-listen to it well. structurally panopticon was limited too, it just had many layers on every section of the songs. celestial was meant to be heavy, progressive in the sections, and the build-ups weren't important. |
warrar1
10.12.11 | all those songs u guys listed are the exception to the rule for those bands anyways. for an album that has all 5,6+ minute songs youd expect for them to go somewhere with them. and they really don't(that well anyways). that was my original point |
ShadowRemains
10.12.11 | yes and ur secondary point was song lengths, which has been proven wrong |
eternium
10.12.11 | You should start listening to Corrupted and Earth. |
Skweetis
10.12.11 | Wavering Radiant |
InAbsentia
10.12.11 | Definitely Panopticon. |
Ire
10.12.11 | band chokes on dick |
InFiction
10.12.11 | Panopticon. But each album is amazing. |
Keyblade
10.12.11 | All I know is that the last 2 minutes or so of So Did We is probably the most amazing piece of music I've ever heard. That's why Panopticon gets the nod for me. |
pcar
10.12.11 | Panopticon's replay value is legit |
