thank god I wasn't the only person that thought it was awful. |
PistolPete
10.10.11 | fast five was actually a lot better than anyone thought it would be including myself, it was fuckin sick
x-men was hit-and-miss, good bad guy, terrible writing in parts |
Yozzy
10.10.11 | Dying to see Drive, 50/50 packed an emotional punch. |
Crymsonblaze
10.10.11 | I haven't seen that many movies I've liked this year.
SUPER is easily the best. I also liked Scre4m, Real Steel, and oddly enough, Green Lantern.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark were decent, and 30 Minutes or Less is by far the worst movie I've seen this year. |
Trebor.
10.10.11 | Oh yeah Rise of the Planet of the Apes |
Trebor.
10.10.11 | Super technically came out in 2010 |
IleftyspankedU
10.10.11 | Nice. Have yet to hear anything bad about Drive so continue to be excited about checking that one out. But Hobo With A Shotgun? Really? I'd have to replace that with Super. (That's Super, not Super 8) What about Hanna? Just caught that the other day and found it quite enjoyable |
IleftyspankedU
10.10.11 | I need to learn to type faster. Started my comment right after the 3rd on the list |
Crymsonblaze
10.10.11 | Yeah, but the US theatrical release was in '11 and it's the only movie I've really loved in years so I figured I'd count it |
AngelofDeath
10.10.11 | This has been one of the greatest years for music, but man has it been a shit year for movies. |
greg84
10.10.11 | I don't agree about X-Men and Hobo. Other than that, great picks. |
Urinetrouble
10.10.11 | x-men>Thor
not sure bout Captain America yet need to see it again. should've made this a top 20 list
also, i put Hobo here cuz i have a thing for trashy exploitation movies |
greg84
10.10.11 | X-men was definitely better than Thor, yet still slightly disappointing. Well. No on par with the first two flicks in the series.
Hobo was only decent. It didn't impress me so much and I'm also partial to exploitation movies.
Both Drive and 50/50 were great though. |
Trebor.
10.10.11 | Last year had so much better movies |
SHAKEandBAKE
10.10.11 | 2011 has been a fantastic year for music. Movies, not so much. |

10.10.11 | "fast five was actually a lot better than anyone thought it would be including myself, it was fuckin sick"
This. Super 8 was really cool, too. |
greg84
10.10.11 | Yeah. I liked Super 8, Horrible Bosses and Bridesmaids too. It is hard to disagree this year has been quite disappointing as far as movies are concerned. A lot of quality stuff, but nothing really mindblowing. |
Zorak
10.10.11 | I've been wanting to see 50/50 |

10.10.11 | Drive sucked. |

10.10.11 | anything with naked people and disturbing images
10/10 |
vmcoia91
10.10.11 | Oh and I actually thought First Class was great, although that's probably because it had Michael Fassbinder and Jennifer Lawrence in it and I love X-Men comics as well so I'm totally biased towards it. |
fulgrim
10.10.11 | Watched x-men yesterday, wasn't brilliant but was still alot better than most comic-book movies. |
Crymsonblaze
10.10.11 | I thought James McAvoy and Kevin Bacon were fantastic but that's literally all I liked. I thought Fassbender was rather dull as Magneto and literally no one else gave an impression. Love the first two in the series though. |
AndManyMore
10.10.11 | Anyone heard of "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil"? came out sept 30th but the closest showing was a 2 hour drive. So i said fuck that, i'll wait till it hits DVD and pirate it. |
vmcoia91
10.10.11 | People should also check out the Turin Horse, seeing as it's Bela Tarr's last film and it will probably go down as one of the better films of the year. |

Watching the Tree of Life tomorrow, way excited. Pretty much every single reaction I've heard is extreme in one direction or another. |

10.10.11 | drive was overrated |
theacademy
10.11.11 | yeah it was a good movie but not best of the year or even top 10 material |
rockandmetaljunkie
10.11.11 | This has been an awful year for the cinema industry and it will get much worse.
There's no originality these days just sequels and prequels. |
Goatlord
10.11.11 | I loved Drive. The film itself was not incredibly original (it borrows heavily for The Driver and some Michael Mann movies,) but it was very fun to watch; especially in the theater with an audience not expected all the blood and gore. I think 2011 truly belonged to the 4th season of Breaking Bad. Jesus Christ, what a great, great show. |

10.11.11 | omg gaiz lets post our pretentious opinions, it'll be so hipster of us |

10.11.11 | Fassbender owned as Magneto, nobody can deny that with that said A Dangerous Method will slay hard. |
greg84
10.11.11 | Ah yeah. Attack The Block and Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil were both much better than Hobo. |
IleftyspankedU
10.11.11 | know it's not til next year but what are peoples takes on the Total Recall remake? i'm a Verhoeven fan so i'm a little skeptical |

10.11.11 | 1st Class was pretty enjoyable. Magneto and Xavier owned the movie plus super hot bitches. However yeah the other mutants were pussies including that wind blowing faggot with the haircut. |
defjaw83
10.11.11 | Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Fucking phenomenal |
Wolfhorde
10.11.11 | "Last year had so much better movies"
Pretty much. TV and Music of 2011 easily overshadows any movie. |
Vesper
10.11.11 | "A Dangerous Method will slay hard."
If I had a dick, I'd have a continuously raging boner for the Fassbender.
Can't believe he's dating Zoe Kravitz, the fairy mutant. |

10.12.11 | lol wtf |

10.12.11 | The Perfect Host was pretty good. So was The Silent House.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned I Saw the Devil. It got it's American theatrical release in May. The scene in the taxi cab matches the elevator scene in Drive as the best scenes in film this year.
Tucker and Dale is this best comedy I've seen this year, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes the best summer blockbuster. Moneyball was also great.
I own Meek's Cutoff but haven't seen it yet but heard it's terrific.
Shit I haven't seen but am psyched to see: Tinker Tailor..., A Dangerous Method, 13 Assasins, Hara Kiri 3D (which may get it's US release in '12), Marcy May Marlene or Whatever, Tabloid, the spanish movie about the kiddknapping it may be called Kiddknapped but I ain't sure, The Ides of March, Take Shelter, and the movie about the guy who thinks he lives in the Mad Max universe and builds a crazy weaponized car to kill his girlfriend.
Shit I'll see but ain't too excited for: Another Earth, Melancholia, The Tree of Life (although the movie's set where I was born), and The Thing.
Worst thing I've seen this year: Fright Night 3D
Overall I think it's been a pretty good year for movies. |
AngelofDeath
10.12.11 | Just got done watching The Tree of Life.

10.12.11 | Drive is more than a little overrated. It's still very good, but the first half completely overshadows the second |
Deviant.
10.12.11 | "Yeah. I liked Super 8, Horrible Bosses and Bridesmaids too."
first 2 are shit, and the only truly funny moment in Bridesmaids is the part where she tries to get the cop's attention in the car |
foxblood
10.12.11 | cedar rapids, win win, and hanna were good. relative to the other movies this year at least. now i really need to see Midnight in Paris. bridesmaids wasn't bad at all, just not that funny |
Trebor.
10.12.11 | I liked Horrible Bosses |
foxblood
10.12.11 | yeah she was the funniest thing about bridesmaids. yeah the story was meh, but visually it was pretty impressive |
foxblood
10.12.11 | yeah i haven't really kept up with indie films recently. anyone else see insidious? shit was lolbad |
Trebor.
10.12.11 | I can't stand 90% of horror movies so I would probably hate it |
BallsToTheWall
10.12.11 | That one broad in Bridesmaids is smoking hot, the one who was also in First Class, |

10.12.11 | Tree of Life is bad. OMG DINOSAURS ANALOGY FOR HUMANITY xD 2 DEEOP |

10.12.11 | yeah source code was good. not amazing, but it was definitely enjoyable |
foxblood
10.12.11 | yeah darth maul listening to tiny tim was sort of the part that ruined it for me. the whole beginning of the movie was alright though |

10.12.11 | Ray Park? What movie. |

10.12.11 | "anyone else see insidious? shit was lolbad"
What? That movie was genuinely frightening; pretty much the only film to give me nightmares since the original Evil Dead when I was fourteen. |
foxblood
10.12.11 | it started out being scary because you didn't know what to expect i guess, and there were some pretty cool things about it, but it was totally ruined by the goofy and over the top second half and terrible ending. at least that's what i thought |
telebyrd
10.12.11 | SUPER 8 WAS HORRIBLE |
BlueW
10.12.11 | We should watch more classy movies considering how classy our music tastes are. Watch more Art House movies bitches, so far this year would be between Pina and Norwegian Wood.
This is the trailer to Pina, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXpFD7gi8R0 |

I think the reveal of the actual demon is a little much but I feel like the rest of the spirits made up for it in creepiness |
defjaw83
10.12.11 | "yeah but the timeline he was traveling to only existed to a certain period so the fact he went to live in it is a huge loophole in the plot of the movie"
Kinda the whole point of the ending right there |
thatoneguy726
10.12.11 | finished tree of life like an hour ago. was pretty ready for it to be over by the time it was, but in this short time it's grown on me a ton. it's like the impossible soul of the film world for me. while i was watching it, i couldn't decide whether i liked it or not. but now i know it was awesome. either way, it was really really interesting and different and accomplished it's goal: i've been thinking about life since the minute it ended. |
Alexcore
10.12.11 | Horrible Bosses was awesome. |
