The Definitive Metalcore List
Yeah so I don't have class until 2 P.M. tomorrow and I feel like
making a productive list for once. Personal rankings; dissenting
opinions will be thoroughly looked down upon. |
1 | Song |
2 | The Ghost Inside Between the Lines
Because WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?! |
3 | Shai Hulud Willing Oneself To Forget About What Cannot Otherwise Be Forgiven
THIS WON'T BE THE DEATH OF ME. This song ought to be considered iconic. |
4 | Band Song |
5 | Counterparts (You Think You're) John Fucking Locke
The Tides Will Carry Us isn't out yet, and this easily one of the best modern
metalcore songs outright. |
6 | Song |
7 | Band Song |
8 | Misery Signals Ebb and Flow
It's fucking Misery Signals. And there are fucking cleans. |
9 | Band Song |
10 | Stray From The Path Damien
Easy choice. If you only ever listen to one song by Stray From The Path,
listen to this one. |
11 | American Me Attribute of the Strong
All of Heat hits as hard as this song, but everything they have to give
stylistically is very nicely demonstrated here. |
12 | Band Song |
13 | Architects Early Grave
Hollow Crown is again, a fantastic album, but Early Grave is still the best on it. |
14 | Band Song |
15 | Song |
16 | August Burns Red White Washed
A very tough choice given the general quality of their work, but if you enjoy
White Washed, you'd probably enjoy the rest of their songs. |
17 | Hundredth Desolate
I just have a blatant soft spot for this band. Not even a little bit bothered
by that. |
18 | Volumes Intake
Volumes hit a very very sweet spot with this one, and it's still yet to be
determined whether they'll ever top it. |
19 | Song |
20 | Band Song |
21 | Song |
22 | Haste The Day Sons of the Fallen Nation
Kind of a big deal in the metalcore world. If for nothing other than the sheer
volume of quality (and questionable) work they've put out. This is just my
favorite. |
23 | Stick To Your Guns 3/60
STYG is STYG and does STYG things. This is one of those things. A good one,
at that. |
24 | Advent Set Apart
Remove the Earth is just a VERY solid and VERY underrated album. |
25 | After the Burial Rareform
In Dreams is arguably better, but this is far and away their most striking
song. The heavy djent is present, but so is the melody, and powerfully so.
Gets cheesy towards the end, but oh well. |
26 | Band Song |
27 | Maylene and the Sons of Disaster Is That A Threat Or A Promise
Southern motherfucking rock. And there's a goddamned cowbell. If you
don't like it, America doesn't like you. |
28 | Band Song |
29 | Song |
30 | Life In Your Way Salty Grave
Just listen to it. It'll all make sense. |
31 | Band Song |
32 | The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza Yippie Kay-Yay Motherfucker
Danza does it dirty, heavy, and really fucking well. |
33 | Song |
34 | Born of Osiris Recreate
The Discovery is Born of Osiris' peak, and this is just one of their most
interesting songs. |
35 | Memphis May Fire Quantity is their Quality
Kind of wished they had kept going in this kind of a direction. The Hollow
wasn't nearly as awesome. |
36 | Means Down To The Spark
Sending You Strength is just a lovable little mix of metalcore elements. |
37 | Your Demise Miles Away
ALONE ALONE ALONE, SO ALONE! ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON!
Song is catchy. |
38 | Song |
39 | Straight Reads The Line Pilgore
Top-notch musicianship can't quite carry this band any further. |
40 | Song |
41 | Band Song |
42 | Song |
43 | Song |
44 | Song |
45 | Song |
46 | Vanna Eyes Like The Tides
Not quite sure what Vanna became after Chris left, but apparently it sounds
like this. |
47 | Song |
48 | For The Fallen Dreams Perceptions
Holy fucking shit this band has an overpoweringly good drummer. |
49 | Oh, Sleeper Son of the Morning
Anything with even a little southern is great. Song happens to be decent as
well. |

69 | Inhale Exhale A Call to the Faithful
This song is kinda southern, so it gets 69 I guess. |
70 | Band Song |
71 | Structures Divided By
Really awesome at points, but kind of like Emmure at some other points. |

86 | Within The Ruins Invade
Chuggy and proggy get really drunk and have sex. This is what it sounds like. |
87 | Song |
88 | Kingdoms Split the Sky
This is kind of good, but rough around the edges. |
89 | Song |
90 | Band Song |
91 | Song |
92 | Song |
93 | Band Song |
94 | Veil of Maya It's Not Safe To Swim Today
Entry level, but an immensely gratifying listen. |
95 | Song |
96 | A Different Breed of Killer The Accidentist
It's kind of like As Blood Runs Black, but kind of better. |
97 | Song |
98 | I The Breather Forgiven
Guilty Pleasure. Typical Sumerian band is typical. |
99 | Broadcast The Nightmare Unsung Hero
Mostly a guilty pleasure. Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside is featured. I
can't help it. |
