10.04.11 | PLEASE NOTE: none of these albums were "breakout" releases (except maybe J Cole's since i have no idea who that is)... this is worth noting because breakouts have relatively unspectacular first week sales ALSO NOTE: these are U.S. figures only |
Liberi Fatali
10.04.11 | Who actually is J Cole? Any songs I should have heard? |
theacademy
10.04.11 | maybe he's one of those jay-sean-paul-taio-rida types |

10.04.11 | This is really weird, but the only reason I know who J Cole is is because it was noted that he was in the very front of the crowd during Dave Chappelle's Block Party (before he got big, obviously). |

10.04.11 | "maybe he's one of those jay-sean-paul-taio-rida types"
Exactly! |

10.04.11 | What about blink's older albums, for context (I'd expect huge figures for Enema/TAYPAJ/Self-titled) |
theacademy
10.04.11 | thanks omni
most of the context i was trying to provide came from the late 00's (except for the random megadeth albums that i only included b/c they were all listed in the same article)
enema is a breakout album, so it only put up like 110K (before going 5x platinum)
the other two were between 300-350 K |

10.04.11 | Interesting read. Thanks acad. |

10.04.11 | Any chance you could post the source link? I'd like to read the article. |

10.04.11 | Thank you sir. Edit: oh, I thought it was an article about the new Blink album. My bad. |

10.04.11 | Who the hell is J Cole? |
BrockCrutchfield
10.04.11 | How can a good band Megadeth sell so little while a horrible artist like Lil Wayne sells nearly a million? What is wrong with you America? |
tkxxx7
10.04.11 | J. Cole is the guy who produced much of Kendrick Lamar's Section 80. His album, Cole World, has been talked about for awhile |

10.04.11 | Talked about by who? 14 year old kids shooting hoops at a rec center? |

10.04.11 | was that supposed to be funny? |

10.04.11 | J. Cole's whole career is his hype pretty much. Don't worry, he's not important. |
newjunkaesthetic93
10.04.11 | Legit question. I've never heard of him, so i'm assuming he's some bullshit hip-hop guy much like Drake, but I just want to be sure. |
ThespianLesbian
10.04.11 | Poor Blink :( |
TechieCore
10.04.11 | Yep. The era of getting rich from CD sales is long gone. It's not like back in late 90's - early 00's where you could sell 2 million copies of a CD easily. Not it's a feat to even sell a million over a period of a couple years. |
DaveyBoy
10.04.11 | Ironic you did this list... As for the intro of my next review, I was thinking who actually are the biggest pop-punk bands (sales-wise & who had best infiltrated the mainstream). I wanted to exclude Blink on purpose as they have been on hiatus. The 2 bands that came to mind immediately were Fall Out Boy & Paramore. When thinking about a 3rd, the best I could come up with were Panic! |
ThespianLesbian
10.04.11 | Their first album is pop punk |

10.04.11 | interesting |

10.04.11 | J Cole is pretty huge at the moment. |

10.05.11 | I just saw that blink's number for last week was 155k. Are you sure about it being 76k? |

10.05.11 | fuck j cole he's a terrible rapper who uses a sickening amount of sports references and unclever one

DaveyBoy
10.05.11 | pop-punk, pop-rock... They're slowly melding into the same thing when it comes to the poppier side of things. |
theacademy
10.05.11 | wow they just updated the numbers to 155...
