Omaha's Top 25 2011 Songs
These are the songs that I've enjoyed the most from the year; of course, I do admit that I rhaven't heard every single album released rthis year (blasphemy, yeah) so this is my rough routline for now. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have anything I may also like. I'm ronly picking one song by each artist, also. |

"Detour"- some very fun dubstep. This should get more recognition on
Sputnik; it's really fun stuff |

"Lion's Share"- the vocals really add something special to this song; I'm not
sure how often I'll be coming back to this album, but if I do this song will be
one of my main plays |

I'm With You
"Even You, Brutus"- the theatrical antics of this song make me so happy,
and remind me of the funky, sexy style of the BSSM days mixed with
Anthony's vocal style in Death of a Martian. Josh certainly fulfills his job here |

Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me
"The Great Repetition"- this album has missteps, but fortunately all the
songs are brief so they're short missteps! This song is one of the highlights
of the album, and fans of hardcore should definitely check it out |

"I Wish"- only a member of a great band would get married to Max Bemis.
During a recent obsession with female vocalists I had, Eisley really fit my
tastes |

"Words"- so yeah, this album does suck, but Words is fantastic at least.

"Feather"- eleven minutes of beauty, with the most fitting title possible |

Thursday
"Lonely Star"- I was going to pick House of Balloons/ Glass Table Girls, but
this song has really grown on me lately. Thursday isn't always enjoyable,
but this song really has a magic to it |

Major/Minor
"Anthology"- the first time I heard this, I could tell it would be a favorite of
mine by the band. Never before has Thrice so accurately conveyed so many
of its musical facets into a single song; it truly is an anthology of their work |

Bon Iver, Bon Iver
"Perth" - Very different from anything on the band's debut, and one of the
only songs on the album that does too much for me |

Empty Days and Sleepless Nights
"Warm Blood Rush"- a frantic opener, this track reminds me why I love
these guys' music so much. Some find the vocals grating, and I can totally
understand why but I adore them; they shine especially in this song |

Finest Hour
"All Yours"- the atmosphere of this song is just incredible, and the female
vocals really add something to the already great cross between dubstep
and jazz-style musicianship on the album |

The Collective
"Whales"- with an album that has as many moments as this one that are
breath-taking, one has to simply resort to picking the song that contains
the most of those moments. |

"Lindesfarne"- this album was quite hit-or-miss with me, but there were a
few songs that I found great. This song especially is powerful, and the
minimalism present really does add to the power of the song |

"Hair-Trigger"- this song is just infectious. I've listened to it so many times,
and I can definitely say that it's the album highlight for me |

"Trapdoor"- the Blue EP from the collection really speaks to me the most,
and trapdoor exemplifies perfectly why I enjoyed it more than the others |

"Primum Movens"- holy hell, how is this so great? A flood of emotion |

Era Extrana
"Polish Girl"- a tasteful expansion on the sound explored on Psychic
Chasms, and a very enjoyable one at that |

Sit Resist
"Halloween Pts. 1 and 2"- I want to now marry this woman. I would love to
be serenaded to with this lovely song every night, but you know, things
don't always work out |

Arrows and Anchors
"The Greener Grass"- the band finally write a great ending, and it's
somehow enjoyable despite being longer than ten minutes |

I Was Here For A Moment, Then I Was Gone
"Take This to Heart"- A gorgeous abbreviated post-rock track that makes
me quite happy |

Vacation
"Everybody That You Love"- the Pinkerton influence just makes me happy
as hell, and this song's just infectious |

Level 2
"Upload Complete"- this album consistently impresses me, but greatest of
all is its opening track. Technicality mixes with soaring melodies to create
something truly special |

"Never Dead" - beautiful lyrics, one of the most heartfelt songs I've ever
