Opeth - Live 10/1 At The House Of Blues Orlando FL

Alright so I saw Opeth at the House of Blues in Orlando tonight and it was pretty fucking rgreat. A lot of people in the crowd were really pissed off that they weren't playing anything rwith death growls but going into the show knowing that they weren't going to I enjoyed their rset a lot. The band was in top form, especially Mike, who delivered a stellar performance. rrrKatatonia were also great and rprovided a good opening set.
1 Opeth
The Devil's Orchard

Knew they would probably open with this. It sounded much better (and much
more loud) live then on the record. Great stuff. The "God is dead" part was
awesome. Their new keyboard player knows what hes doing thats for damn
sure.
2 Opeth
I Feel the Dark

My favorite track off of Heritage so I was glad they played this. The part where
Mike whispers and that menacing keyboard comes in with the heavy riffs ruled.
3 Opeth
Face of Melinda

Really interesting to see this live. Still Life hasnt been one of my favorite Opeth
albums (not that I dont like it, I just don't listen to it as often as the others) but
Face of Melinda was great live. It would have been better if the crowd wasn't
yelling for heavier material the whole time.
4 Opeth
Porcelain Heart (with Martin Axenrot drum solo)

This one was especially great because of the drum solo. Axe is such a great
drummer and he got a chance to show off a bit here which was awesome.
5 Opeth
Nepenthe

Another Heritage track. This one was great, sounded better than on the album,
and it was really cool to see the picking techniques Mike uses on the Heritage
songs, which I really noticed on this one.
6 Opeth
The Throat of Winter

I had never heard this song at all until I saw it tonight. I never looked it up on
YouTube or anything. It sounded pretty cool though, especially towards the end
where the band did this cool jam.
7 Opeth
Patterns in the Ivy II

I was really hoping they would play this and they did. Such a great song.
Beautiful vocal melodies from Mike and an instantly memorable performance. This should have been on Blackwater
Park.
8 Opeth
Closure

For me, this was the highlight of the show seeing as its my favorite track off of
Damnation. Closure was every bit as epic as it should have been. The band
launched into the classic jam at the end in spectacular fashion and the keyboard
interlude before it right after the "in the rays of the sun I am longing for the
darkness" part was unexpected but really interesting.
9 Opeth
Slither

This really got the pit going after they had nothing to mosh to all night. I wasn't
particularly fond of this song when I heard it on Heritage, but live it sounded
better in concert.
10 Opeth
A Fair Judgement

This sounded massive live. One of the best songs on Deliverance so I was
hoping it would. The band slowed down the heavy ending and made it ten times
as epic. So good. Mike and Fredrik nailed the solos in the song perfectly too.
11 Opeth
Hex Omega

This one was great live. Watershed isn't my favorite Opeth album but this is one
of the best tunes on it and live it was even better.
12 Opeth
Encore Song - Folklore

An interesting song to play as the encore, but nonetheless great. This song is
one of the most proggy on Heritage. The band went out well with this one.
Mikes riffs on this are great.
