10.01.11 | Mo? Wow.
Kind of Blue is my style. |

10.01.11 | "Am rockin' an absurd amount of Miles at the mo. It's SO DAMN GOOD" what can I say. |
Athom
10.01.11 | In a Silent Way, Jack Johnson, and Bitches Brew is his holy trinity imo. |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | I was under the assumption it was common slang, but I've changed it to the correct syntax for your viewing pleasure |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | and yeah, Jack Johnson is so underrated it hurts |
Athom
10.01.11 | you should check out astigmatic by krzysztof komeda. it's really underrated. the recording is a little thin but it's some crazy good stuff. |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | if the album's as cool as his name, it'll be a classic! |
robertsona
10.01.11 | listen to bitches brew while driving really fast or something. record's great but took me a while to get into.
you should listen to the black saint and the sinner lady. really popular round these internet parts and for a reason
|
Athom

10.01.11 | it's a shame you can't get into bitches brew. bb is actually my favorite jazz album. i've always had this wish that there would be a jazz album that was dark, sprawling, psychedelic and groovy all at once, and as soon as I was 5 minutes into pharoah's dance I knew I had just found it. became my favorite jazz album after literally one listen. kinda weird how you have this conception of what you want to hear and then you listen to an album that fits that description perfectly and becomes an instant favorite. |
JesusChris
10.01.11 | bought miles davis headphones, came with a mastered version of sketches in spain specifically mastered for the headphones. it's a straight up eargasm. |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | Dayum, Sketches of Spain is so good. Miles could pretty much do no wrong in the 60s as far as I'm concerned |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | Also, the cookin'/steamin'/smokin'/relaxin' albums (all from 2 sessions) are probably the pinnacle of be-bop/hard bob in general, in all their apostrophized glory |
fulgrim
10.01.11 | ^Just what i was gonna say, his stuff with his quintet is really good. |
Electric City
10.01.11 | bitches brew goddamn |
foreverendeared
10.01.11 | Miles Davis headphones? For real? How are they? |
JesusChris
10.01.11 | fucking spectacular, really nice high and clean mids, awesome soundscape and pinpoint bass. I don't like monster products but these are really well built. |
foreverendeared
10.01.11 | Expensive for in-ear, though. In-ear buds break too easily to justify that price for me. |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | monster products, for all the flash and celebrity shit, are generally quality headphones, sound-wise |
MO
10.01.11 | Davis rules. You'll warm up to brew soon enough. Great record. |
jefflebowski
10.01.11 | Yeah, I'm sure I will. Still too much in love with Jack Johnson to give it a serious listen yet, but I'm not giving up.
On the Corner, on the other hand |
JesusChris
10.02.11 | they were expensive but they come with a life-time warranty, so even if i step on em, they replace them every time. |
JesusChris
10.02.11 | @jeffle, they've only made one good line of headphones, the turbines (which includes the Davis buds). Beats are godawful for any price over $40 |
jefflebowski
10.02.11 | the beats are alright, from what I've heard of them (ipod use, basically). They're overpriced, and won't measure up to sennheisers or beyers, but they're a cut above the fucking awful skullcandys |
clercqie
10.02.11 | Actually listening to Kind of Blue for the first time now. Kinda embarassed it took so long :/
Will get the rest/best of his discog soon! |
Chrisjon89
10.02.11 | ^ Bitches Brew might be good music for the open road but in my experience it's terrible listening in heavy traffic. I love that album but I reckon they'd have accomplished as much in 15 minutes as they do in 27.
Also it's funny how I consider myself a massive Miles fan but I have nothing pre-Milestones, and nothing post-Jack Johnson. Not a whole lot of his 60s material either. Lately I've been checking out more of Coltrane's stuff. Also Pharoah Sanders. |

10.02.11 | seeing wayne shorter tomorrow night be jealous |

10.02.11 | what an album |
jefflebowski
10.02.11 | and Chris, some of his pre-milestones stuff is fantastic, esp. Miles Ahead and the cookin'/steamin'/relaxin'/smokin' axis of awesome |
Fellow
10.02.11 | I bought Jack Johnson just for Right Off. Yesternow is a good track, but nothing beats Right Off.
Don't know about anyone else, but I really struggled to get into Birth of the Cool... |
TheArkitecht
10.02.11 | I've only heard Birth of The Cool and parts of Tribute to Jack Johnson, I keep meaning to sit down and go through alot of his more popular albums. |
jefflebowski
10.02.11 | you've basically skipped out his classic period then :P
Start with Kind of Blue, ESP, Miles Smiles and Milestones |
TheArkitecht
10.03.11 | Will do, my brother has a load of his albums so I'll steal them haha. |
jefflebowski
10.03.11 | awesome man, you won't regret it! |
