I wish you were here Cliff sou you could see the downhill of your band.
You're the only person who could save them. |

09.27.11 | It's so fucking sad.
Musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Randy Roads, Cliff Burton, who all died at an early age never had the chance to show their true potential. Just imagine what masterpieces we could have seen from them. |

09.27.11 | RIP Cliff Burton, it would be ignorant to assume Metallica wouldn't have gone down a similar path sooner or later if he had lived, but they certainly were never as good as they were on their first three, and Burton was an essential part of that sound. Those albums need to be remastered with more bass volume.

If Burton were still alive and Mustaine never left than Metallica would've had a damn near perfect career. |

Sorry man, but Mustaine never worked in a studio album with Tallica. He may wrote some songs but he was never a part of that. So we will never know if this quartet would've had a "damn near perfect career."
I still believe that the line-up of the first 3 albums was the best. |

09.27.11 | That's fair, I just believe that Mustaine is far superior to Hammett. Kicking him out of the band definitely made him smarten up with his drinking which is what fucked his chances in Metallica. I'm just saying if hypothetically they would've melded well in the studio the quality of their music would've lasted longer than 3-4 albums. |

I don't understand how you base on that fact.
Mustaine in his career with Megadeth is a rythm guitarist.
Hammett has always been the lead guitarist of Tallica.
Thus we can't compare them imo. |

That's true but I find Mustaine's rythm work is better than Hammetts lead work imo. I also think he's the better song writter. Even though James and Lars did most of the writing on Metallica's discog the songs Mustaine did help write or wrote stick more to the thrash roots than say Black album or Load/Reload. So in my eyes if he would've stayed the song writing would've followed that and been more consistent over the years. |
