Life
Congratulations, Edsel! Your band has been selected for the Fallout Awards! Really, what sort of band does THIS after F&R? 50% of this album is post-grunge, the other half is alt-rock. Both halves are full of softish romantic lyrics. [Insert NWOAHM666 crying here] | | 4 |  | Dope
Group Therapy
A reasonable return to harder music after Life, Group Therapy is still away from the dark aggro industrial sound of their debut album, but at least it's more pushed towards that direction. Sounds very nü-metal though. | | 3 |  | Dope
No Regrets

American Apathy
In 2005, Dope actually came up with something that was very close to their debut, although it had more variety. The industrial sound is proeminent although the band's roots in hard rock can be heard sometimes. | | 1 |  | Dope
Felons and Revolutionaries
(tl,dr warning) Okay, I've got an impressive obsession with this album as being a late 90s pearl. Well, here Dope were brave enough to swim against the current. The album follows a very dark, industrial mood, that's true. Some riffs are brutal (seriously), some riffs are catchy, the voice is excellent, the drumming is good and quite technical. However, that's not where I want to argue. Look at the album title. Look at the cover. Hear the lyrics in "Pig Society", "One Fix" and "America the Pitiful" (a.o.). What makes this album a masterpiece (IMHO) is that Dope brought America's underground and criminality into their music, very unlike what the norm was in the era of LB and Staind. Sure, it didn't make a revolution, but its anger, its criminal, anti-establishment mood, all of those factors put this album above everything Dope ever made. Oh, and of course, the music is better IMO. | |
