| Guitarists I'm Stealing From Lately
So, I've got myself a new band. Hooray, yah-boo, good times will abound! I'm sure that once we get everything in order and start some serious practicing, we'll make some recordings and give the Alt/Indie crew something to talk about (hopefully). Here are the guitarists I've been borrowing my sound from for this project.
Oh, we call ourselves Pillowfort. Isn't that nice? | 1 | | Yeah Yeah Yeahs Nicolas Zinner
Very straightforward, fuzzy sound that makes for really catchy Art-Punk licks. Simple lead lines meet and play back-and-forth with the vocal lines to great effect. | 2 | | Deerhoof John Dieterich
Bouncy, chaotic, wild, and yet somehow very organized. A true master of balancing catchiness and fun with boundary-pushing inside the limits of Art-Punk and Noise-Pop. | 3 | | Sleater-Kinney Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein
Punchy, rock-out riffs and simple, effective texturing. If you're not having a rockin' time while blasting stuff like "Rollercoaster" or "The Fox", something is wrong with you. | 4 | | Sonic Youth Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo
Bizarre tunings, blistering noise, blaring feedback - and, most importantly - memorable, interesting riffs. | 5 | | Dinosaur Jr. J. Mascis
This dude is a freaking BEAST. Full, spacious sound and noisy, robust solos put his guitar work front and center. | |
La Revolucion
06.02.07 | Alright. | ValiumMan
06.02.07 | What an unusual list. I expected a ton of wanky metal guitarists, actually. I'm probably, as a guitaris, most influenced by Lee Ranaldo outta these, assuming he's the one who makes all the goofy noises and Thurston is the guy who plays the actual "riffs". |
