Maniac!
08.24.11 | That's pretty lame tbh |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | How much did you pay, Hep, if you don't mind me asking? |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | $60's not that overpriced for that, considering it's completely filled in. That takes a lot of ink, so I don't think you overpayed that much. |
Jozh
08.24.11 | Sexy arm you got there! |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | It's always nice when you have a friend that does ink. 90% of my work was done by a friend of mine, and I think I only paid for about 30% of it. |
omnipanzer
08.24.11 | I don't think $60 is too much either. I had a guy do mine for $50 but it was a style he really wanted to try so I just paid for mats and a little of his time. |

It's just the only two reasons I can think of that your religion would even matter. |

Not Jr. Jr., Jr. the singer.
That's bullshit!

08.24.11 | I mean, that tat isn't my style, but it's not up to me whether to say it's cool or not. Ink is personal. If you're getting inked up to impress, well, then maybe you shouldn't be getting any work done. |

08.24.11 | "Ink is personal. If you're getting inked up to impress, well, then maybe you shouldn't be getting any work done."
This so much.
I have 6 tattoos so far and got all of them at very reasonable prices. Planning on getting my half sleeve whenever I get enough money. |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | Let me do it, Hawks. |
Hawks
08.24.11 | Lol depends on how much you're charging. Anything over $200 and I'll have to pass... |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | You're expecting to pay less than 200 for a half sleeve? Is it all one color, or several different colors? |
Crysis
08.24.11 | Not a fan of it but if you like it that's all that matters |
AngelofDeath
08.24.11 | "You're expecting to pay less than 200 for a half sleeve?"

08.24.11 | And yeah no fucking way will you get a half sleeve for less than $200 and have it not look like utter shit |
Megadeth
08.24.11 | terrible |
Hawks
08.24.11 | Dude Pit the dude who does my tattoos prices are so reasonable, especially for how good he is. I think my half sleeve will definitely be under $200. |
Crysis
08.24.11 | I don't buy it. My side piece cost me $800. |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | I don't know anyone who pays less than $400 total for a half sleeve. When you're doing intricate work, it's never done in one session, so they charge by the hour(color is also a factor), and most artists charge between $75-$150 an hour. Well, at least the good ones do. My right arm cost me over $1200, and it was all by the hour. |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | "Dude Pit the dude who does my tattoos prices are so reasonable, especially for how good he is. I think my half sleeve will definitely be under $200"
I understand that. But even friends can't give you a MAJOR deal on a sleeve, whether it be a quarter, half, or full, because that's a lot of money. If you can get a deal, I guarantee you, from personal experience, that you won't spend less than $400. |

08.24.11 | Hell, for friends, I used to charge $125/hour, and that's considered cheap in Florida. |

I used to agree with this, but I saw a girl with a clothes hanger tattooed on her thigh and some anime girls on her shoulder yesterday.
Ugh, I'm too poor to get more tattoos right now... waiting on an interview and that may change, however. |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | "I used to agree with this, but I saw a girl with a clothes hanger tattooed on her thigh and some anime girls on her shoulder yesterday."
It's stupid, but hell, it might mean something to them. I always find the dumbest tattoos are the most original, because you have to know you're not going to impress anyone with that. |
AngelofDeath
08.24.11 | I saw this guy not too long ago with the busts of Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter facing each other in fighting stance on the back of each of his triceps. They weren't colored so it wasn't too over the top and actually looked pretty badass. |

Yeah, I agree no one should get tattoos to impress others, but people shouldn't be treating their skin like the inside of their high school notebooks either.
I don't quite believe that tattoos are completely personal, because if they're meant to be an expression of a truly private thought, you shouldn't need to have that idea anywhere but your own head. |
FrankRedHot
08.24.11 | "Yeah, I agree no one should get tattoos to impress others, but people shouldn't be treating their skin like the inside of their high school notebooks either."
I'll take that personally, thank you. lol
"I don't quite believe that tattoos are completely personal, because if they're meant to be an expression of a truly private thought, you shouldn't need to have that idea anywhere but your own head."
Who says something personal has to be a private thought? I have my children's names on the inside of my arm, and that's very personal to me. It's not a private thought at all, though.

AngelofDeath
08.24.11 | The best tattoos, in my opinion, have a perfect balance between personal meaning, design, and execution. I don't think you have to sacrifice aesthetics for sentiment. |

I said *completely* personal. Of course, every tattoo has personal meaning, whether it be deeply symbolic or light-hearted, but I hear too many people claim their tattoos to be solely for themselves. I just don't think that is true, since tattoos are, by their nature, public displays of a sentiment (even if that sentiment is not known to the viewers)... unless you get them where no one but you can see them.
Basically, I think some ideas, especially those people claim to be private, are better left un-inked, haha.
"I don't think you have to sacrifice aesthetics for sentiment."
Angel said it more concisely, lol. |
